Is it safe to dremmel down the Magpul precision rifle stock in order to accomodate the LAR-8 charging handle?  Anybody tried this with success?

OR

Is there an equivalent stock out there that fits the LAR-8...i really need to get rid of this Standard A4 stock.

Thanks for the help!

Safe to dremel the front of the cheek riser right off.  Common mod for LAR-8 owners.  Use the AR-10 PRS over the AR-15 PRS, and you'll have less of an "ugly gap."  <thumbsup>

Raise that cheekpiece up high enough, and the charging handle will hit the front of it. Your cheekpiece is probably low.

Now I'm curious.  I have the PRS on my LAR-308 and don't remember any clearance issues..?

From the pics you added, it appears you have a DPMS rifle. Those charging handles clear the AR-10 PRS, in stock form.

yep, from what I have gathered the LAR-8 has about 3/8 more charging handle to pull back (I think).  Not a show stopper for me really - I love that stock so I will just raise it to where I need and cut out a space for the handle.

Brownell's and MidwayUSA also sell a buttstock extension (DPMS make I believe), that pushes the PRS back far enough to work the cocking handle.

That is the way Spaniky's is setup...I think.
