44Dave
OK, so I'm afraid that I sadly already know the answer but I'm gonna ask this anyway:I'm a big fan of the forward mounted scout scope. Is there a FF tube stout enough for me to mount a scope on the tube? Or would I have to add a cantilever mount off the receiver? There are some that are long enough, but I didn't really want to add the weight of that or a monolithic upper.Options?
edgecrusher
So you are looking to set up a "scout" style rifle setup? Check out Precision Reflex Inc. I have one of their tubes on my ar15 mk12 build, and I fully believe they could handle it, and they make ar10/ 308ar tubes! link to my buildhttp://308ar.com/forum/black-rifles/first-ar-15-build/msg37803/#msg37803link to their sitehttp://www.precisionreflex.com/Products.aspx?CAT=4211let us know what you think
44Dave
Yes, a scout style is exactly what I am wanting to do. You used that Gen III forearm then? It seems to weigh more than I would have thought with carbon fiber. Does it have any flex with the rail attached to the tube like that? edgecrusher
None, solid as a rock! <thumbsup>
98Z5V
No flex whatsoever - use the tube, and it's top rail, pick rings that keep your scope low. My 5.56 with the PRI parts:
Rsquared
What kind of barrel is that? Noveske?
98Z5V
Nope - it's a Wilson Arms-fabricated barrel, for Nordic Components. 18" stainless, rifle gas, 1:8 twist, with a .223 Wylde chamber. The thing is stupid accurate. :oLink to the barrel, but OOS for awhile now...http://shop.nordiccomp.com/Nordic-223-Wylde-18-Competition-Barrel-BBL-18R-223W.htm
