imschur
Is there any kit to temporarily convert 20 or 30 round AR-15 magazines to 10 rounds for a trip to a state that requires silly mag capacity limits?10 round mags appear to cost more than 20's or 30's
98Z5V
When's your trip? I can call up DNP and have him send you some in a care package - he's got plenty of them. <thumbsup>
imschur
Thanks, its not for me though. Its for a life long family friend who I took to buy his first AR yesterday.
draco41
If the state is NY, keep in mind the conversion has to be permanent. <dontknow>
98Z5V
Drew, I know LaRue is making 10-round 7.62 Pmags now, and the price is good. I'm not sure if they make the same thing for the 5.56, though. Worth a look. You know the customer service, shipping, and everything else would be fantastic through them. <thumbsup>

survivalshop
A cut down spring & wood spacer . You will have to experiment with lengths of both spring & spacer . ( I think now , it would be easier to just buy them )I have done it before for a hunt in a state that required a five round mag capacity & I took a scoped FN-FAL with an altered 20 rd. mag. I set up to hunt with .Didn't see a legal buck , but the following year I took a nice seven point with my scoped M1 Garand.

SWshooter
Actually i kinda like the ten rounders. They are handier off the bench and lighter and easier to carry when hunting. Anything that sticks around for ten shots was already dead when you started. I have a translucent plastic 10 rd that works quite nicely. mrraley
I have seen on ArmaLite's web site, that they have 10 round magazines. They look like a 20 round mag body but blocked for either 5 round and 10 round capacity. It's crimped so you can not get any more than that in there. EX0075 = 5 roundEX0072 = 10 roundEX0099 = 5 round (true 5 round, short mag)http://www.armalite.com/Categories.aspx?Category=9b3fa949-2de1-4e58-900d-d4b35534acd5
