forend/forearm choice?

So one question I have, and this is a stupid question, but will a standard AR-15 forend/forearm fit a 7.62 barrel?  all the rails/forearms I look at and go, that's what I want are for AR-15's and I would feel pretty stupid if I ordered a AR-15 forend and it won't fit my .308 barrel.

The only AR-15 handguard that will fit on a .308 varient, is the Magpul MOE handguard... and that requires a little bit of modification to work.

 

The 308AR has a unique barrel nut that does not allow the smaller AR15 handguards to fit.

 

What are you looking for? Perhaps we can point you in the right direction...

I'm looking at something like the Samson MFG Evolution rail system.  Thank you all for the input on the barrel nut.  I dont necessarily want to build another ar-15.  I put more $$$$ into my first one than planned.

My whole build is waiting on that Samson. I'm considering just buying a cheap DPMS handguard so I can shoot it while I wait.
