Matt.Cross
yeah, thats why i'm saving bothering with a supressor till I build a 300 AAC or .45acp AR. way more fun to go totally silent :) puff puff puff I'm not that discriminative, suppressed is fun whether super/subsonic for me. Matt.Cross
Guys, be on the lookout, I was talking to my machinist buddy this evening, and we whipped up an incredible adjustable gas block idea. I gotta sit down and get it all drawn out and spec'd up..
shepp
What kinda drop in DB is that??
Matt.Cross
What kinda drop in DB is that?? Here's the generic numbers, because I don't have Ops Inc actual numbers at hand right now: .308 in 24" barrel = 156.2dB (per this reference) 85 db is considered hearing safe. So by the math, 156.2 - 85 = 71.2 db reduction @ minimum.
shepp
Do you happen to know what it is un suppressed??? Just curious Edited May 17, 2013 by shepp
Rsquared
I can't speak from personal experience for thte Ops Inc cans. But the AAC's (SDN6) are rated at anywhere between -25 to -39 db, depending on the round/load you're shooting. I haven't taken possesion of that one yet. Still waitin on the feds. But, my 762-SD (I think) was rated at about -30 to -35db. And I've run that one with everything from Federal GMM to the standard Milsurp 147 (Lake City) without hearing protection with no problems. Pistols are a whole other animal. That's where you start approaching the hollywood "thud". I think my Ti-rant (45) is rated at anywhere between -30 to -41, depending on if you run it wet or dry. I've never used hearing protection when running that one..........don't need it.

Matt.Cross
Here's some range footage as promised! Second round jammed, probably because we were running it dry, but all subsequent rounds fired without any failures whatsoever. Matt.Cross
Also, that is NOT me in the video, that is my coworker Richard. I'm much better looking than him. It can also be noted that with just one exposure to the rifle, he automatically wants one. The recruits will be rolling in soon, be on the lookout.
