D.R.D. Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 A 600 yard comparison would still be great, though!
Sisco Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Well it seems there are no 1K ranges around me , so finding what these rifles will do at that range is not going to happen, unless I come across something & that's got me thinking about my bullet selection . If I'm not shooting past 600yards( longest in my area , an hour or two away ) , why even work up any more loadings with a 175 gr. bullet . I'm going to continue with 168 gr. bullets if for any reason then I have already got load & target data for this bullet in both rifles & they have much better groupings @ 200 yards . Granted , I have not settled on a good load for the 175's yet & will take some new loads with IMR 4895 , which the Nosler data of 39.5 gr charge reads are the most accurate , we will see . I will be doing some Chrono data this weekend . Damn ! That is the problem here is finding long distance ranges. I am working up a hundred of each, 175 and 168 SMK's to see which my rifles like better. As they are two different barrel twists who knows until I do it.
survivalshop Posted May 29, 2014 Author Report Posted May 29, 2014 Thats what I have been doing , but with the same twist rate & different lengths. I have set up for both rifles & some just for a particular barrel length. I never load up too many when developing a load , pulled too many bullets when the load was not up to what I was looking for or in some cases , a little too hot . This is the next batch , different weight brass , different charges & different weight bullets ( 168 gr. & 175 gr. ) all ready for the Chrono .
