beachmaster Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Hi, I was wondering if the ace stock with its rifle buffer has any weight savings over a standard carbine stock. (Obviously with lighter carbine buffer system) I guess one would think this question would be simple, and although just looking at the weight of a standard issue buttstock or magpul Moe, and comparing it to the ace is easy, I thought the rifle buffer tube would probably be lighter since it is simpler. Then there is the (overall small) weight difference in buffers... So, is there anyone with personal experience who could tell me if there is any negligible difference in weight? Thanks!
Cali_Ed Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 My advice is i go into a shop and check out rifles with those stocks. It's something i did. To give you a comparison which i maybe a bit off since mine was between the acs and ace wasn't that huge but you could still notice the diffence. I felt the ace was more comfterable for me. Hopefully that helps.
Robocop1051 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Don't sacrifice comfort for weight. You might save a few oz with a plain carbine stock, but you'll hate shooting it. ACE is faaaaar more comfortable to shoot. If you really want a collapsible stock, the Magpul ACS-L is one of the most comfortable on the market.
beachmaster Posted February 16, 2014 Author Report Posted February 16, 2014 I have an acs lying around that i am not to fond of. I broke and repaired it. Im running Moe right now and i am pretty happy. But i really want to find a rifle with the ace stock. My buddy has one and likes it. But for now I will hold what I have got :-) thanks for the input!
shibiwan Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) ACS here too...becoming a standard for my 5.56 beaters. Tried the ACS-L and didn't like how the QD stuck out due to the smaller side tubes. Edited February 16, 2014 by shibiwan
