on the upper of

The entire CMMG MK3 rifle is very well built, with only one catch - tighten the barrel nut before you shoot it. Not sure if it will apply to the newer RKM barrel nuts though, but no harm to check. The actual MK3 (.308) upper receiver is CNC machined very well out of billet.

If I were looking for another complete upper, I have no hesitation picking up another CMMG upper and sticking it on whatever lower.

BTW, the MK3 upper has no provisions for any forward assist assembly. Not like it's needed....

Just my prejudice $0.02

I'm not saying all CMMGs are bad, lots of guys here seem to have gotten theirs to work. I just point out that nearly every time someone posts an issue with their rifle, it's usually remedied by replacing/repairing/modifying a CMMG part.

EXACTLY you can do better......if it were me.....I would go to the LGS with my lower or to a gunshow

and "try fit" the two together.....and since its so easy and fun....why dont you buy a upper that you know fits great and build you another complete upper....so you could get a dpms upper and go from there.....resale will also be better with matched named upper /lower :) Wash

You're talking complete .308 uppers, which are almost unseen "in the wild" and I have yet to see any of them at a an LGS. You'll find complete .308ARs but the uppers alone are almost impossible to locate, so that leaves you two options - local gun shows, or buy it off the internet. :D

I know the CMMG MK3s have a spotty history but I think they have the majority of the issues fixed over the last year or so. Haven't heard of any problems with the ones that my buddies picked up.

....that said, I'd kill for a complete KAC SR25 with a 20" barrel....  :))  :))
