Buffing isn't going to take off NiB... unless you're running it on a coarse wheel with a heavy abrasive. Even then, I'm sure you'd know if you went too far. I worked a NiB upper receiver with some 000 steel wool and never worried about it.

Does anyone know of any other 15 inch handguards that are compatible with the MATEN? I believe they have to work with the dpms barrel nut and with the high profile upper.

Samson

Midwest Industries

SWS

Apex

Right now I'm leaning more toward the samson or troy,

if anyone knows of any others, i'd appreciate it if you please let me know.

As far as quality goes... SWS and APEX far surpass the others.

Lancer and JP/VTAC both make 15" free float tubes.

I don't like the real cylindrical look. I like the angle and edges that the sampson has. But the troy does look really good. I'll look into lancer and jp. Thanks
