  1. Contact them & ask them that question . Is this one of the Barrels you had to open up the Barrels Gas Port ?
  2. I may have some Chrono data on Tac with 168 gr, Match Bullets , but I have went the opposite of most , I went to using a lighter 155 gr. SMK bullets . I don't have any where to shoot long range so , loading for it & not being able to test for it , to me is senseless , so I go for the 200yard range , since that would be all I need , as far as range. My testing has just began for this Powder ( Tac ) 4064 is a great Powder , just doesn't like to meter well , I use a my Powder measurer to get close & trickle charge ,to get the dead on the weight on the Scale . For the past thirty years or so I have used a pull down powder , WC 846 , which is gone & no longer available . I got great results with it in all my testing , in all Bullet configurations , but now having to get new results using Tac , is slow work , since I am using it for 5,56 also in testing . Tac meters very well in my Redding Powder measure , its very rare that the charge is more then a tenth of a grain off from charge weight , which I like .
  3. Probably conventional Piston systems as in a Browning BAR , some Remington semi auto rifles , for example , with no adj. of the gas available . Those Pistons get to full stroke & all excess Gas is expelled into the atmosphere , that may be a speedy piston travel . I would think that the Superlative Piston system ( and their adj. Gas Block ), with its exhausted waste gas system , might be a good thing .
  4. I use Tac . As said , plenty in the reloading section .
  5. You should still be able to adj. that or any other Gas Impulse signal with the adj. Gas Block . The issue there as with adj. for any one load is , it may not work with a milder or one loaded with a Powder that has different characteristics . It seems they went out of their way to mention Carbines & Mid-lengths , but also had to be talking about other conventional Gas systems , including Piston systems . No mention if the systems were regulated or not .
  6. With an adj. Gas Block , the Ammo or type means nothing , you can adj. for high or lower pressure ammo . The NIB Bolt or a HS issue because of it, would be the first thing to look at . I have seen tight tolerances when checking HS on some NIB coated Bolts , with some that don't pass . Sometimes working the well lubed BCG over & over again , wears them in enough to allow full function with loaded ammo . It may also be too much pressure from the SP Ammo , as was posted by 98 , just adj. the Gas Block as described in the instruction that cam with it .
  7. I have an Olympic Arms , preban Ar 15 & know of many more . All the Prebans are going for big $$ in the States that kept the AWB .
  8. What are the Spec's of the Barrel , length , Gas system , type of Gas Block ? May also be type of Bullet loaded in the Hornady ammo , not just the pressure of the SP Load . So as said , try mil spec Ball ammo , Fed M 80 is a good choice . You need to check Head Space or have it checked by a competent Gunsmith , just to be sure .
  9. & doesn't go full auto & dump the mag with out being able to stop it , ya never know . One round, then two, then three , then five, ten, & 20 . making sure everything works correctly. Use proper Barrel Break in as you are testing , if thats what you prefer . Run her wet !
  10. Too much or inconsistent NIB BCG coating by some manufacturers . Have you checked Head Spaced this Rifle ?
  11. It has taken almost three weeks to get them to send me a return shipping label , numerous emails & finally a call to Customer unservice , I gave the second bad Feeder to UPS on Friday , can't wait to see how their replacement works. I will not be buying their product agin & will most likely repair anything that goes wrong with this one , in the future .
  12. Good description of an inspection , I do have one issue with the old wife's tail , those are gas rings sealing a Piston type of assembly , show me one Piston assembly where they tell you that staggering the gas rings doesn't matter . Its common sense to stager them , will it work with out staggering , probably , is it as efficient in trapping gas impulse as it would be with them staggered , testing from many Piston ,Piston Ring manufacturers say , NO !
  13. I haven't used my SB RCBS sizer Die for a quite a while now , but all Chambers are not made a like , so I can't say "all "chambers don't need a SB sized case . I like that I can change Neck Bushings for what type Bass I'm working with. I'm saying its not about a particular brand of or that its a Bushing Die , I just believe a SB Sizing Die is not needed for most applications . If you feel comfortable with a SB sizer die , thats OK , I used one for over thirty years with out issue . The FL sizing Die's benefits are less trimming needed , which goes with less Case stretching .
  14. Got mine yesterday , thanks
  15. I used to use a SB RCBS Sizer Die myself , but seeing its over thirty years old , I wanted something new & went to a Redding FL Bushing sizing Die , because of using different Brass , I found that I can custom tailor the Neck tension dimensions to the Brass thickness . I have found that all Brass cases do not need the same Neck sizing for proper Neck tension . You can feel it seating Bullets when using different Brass , Commercial Brass needs more then the LC surplus ( or less , depending how you look at it ) I have not had an issue with four different 308 rifles,( three 308AR's ) . I was once one who thought the same thing about only SB sizing , but I have been using a FL Sizer for a couple of years now , with thousands of reloads & the only issue I have had was recently with my new MEC single stage press & it was my fault because I was not setting the Shoulder back to the proper set back . I had the same issue with the SB Die , when I tried it .There is a Thread on what I went through with the MEC in this reloading section . I see no problem using a SB sizer Die , hell , I loaded for M14's , 308AR's , Bolt Guns ,FN FAL's , with a SB & had no issues , but its a personal preference . I was just surprised at the difference in the two how they fit in my Trimmer Holder & now with your Photo's showing chambering .
  16. HEADSPACE GAGE INSTRUCTIONS The Forster Headspace Gage is designed to ensure accurate testing of chamber headspace. Headspace is the distance between the face of the breech and the base of the cartridge when the action is closed. Safety and accuracy are threatened when excessive headspace exists. For best results with bolt action rifles, remove the extractor from the bolt. The bolt must work freely in the receiver. It is impossible to have the proper feel for a gage if the bolt is tight or sticky. Insert the proper gage into the action. Attempt to close the bolt on the gage. CAUTION — Never force the bolt closed on a gage. A rifle with correct headspace should close easily and without feel on the GO gage, but should not close on the FIELD gage. If it does close on the NO-GO gage, but not on the FIELD gage, the rifle may still be serviceable. However, it is not advisable to use it for best accuracy with factory ammunition. CAUTION — Any rifle that will close on the field gage may have dangerously excessive headspace and should not be fired under any circumstances. Three lengths of Headspace Gages are available per caliber: GO length — This checks the rifle to see that the chamber will accept the cartridges made to maximum SAAMI specifications. NO-GO length — This is used by most gunsmiths as a maximum headspace gage when chambering a rifle’s headspace dimension. If a rifle closes on a NO-GO gage, it may have excessive headspace. If a rifle closes on a NO-GO gage, it may still be within the SAAMI Rifle Chamber tolerance. Next, it should be checked with a FIELD gage. FIELD length — If a rifle closes on a FIELD length gage, its chamber is dangerously close to, or longer than, SAAMI’s specified maximum chamber size. This is the longest of the three gage lengths. Custom-length Forster gages are available. A grinding fee will apply. Call, fax, or e-mail us with inquiries for special gages. GO, NO-GO, and FIELD length Headspace Gages are available in the following calibers: For rimless calibers — 22 PPC, 220 Swift, 222 Rem., 222 Rem. Mag., 22-250 Rem., 223 Rem., 243 Win., 244 Rem., 250 Sav., 25-06 Rem., 257 Rob., 270 Win., 6mm PPC, 6.5 x 55 SKAN, 6.5 x 55 Swede, 7mm-08 Rem., 7mm Mauser, 280 Rem., 284 Win., 30 Carbine M1, M1A1, M2, M3, 30-06, 308 Win., 8mm x 57 Mauser, 358 Win. For rimmed calibers — 219 Wasp & Zipper, 22 Rimfire, 22 Sav. H.P., 25-35, 275 Mag., 303 Br., 300 Mag., 30-30, 30-40 Krag, 32 Win. Sp., 32-40, 375 Mag., 38-55, 30 Carbine. Thank you for purchasing a Forster Precision Product. Please wear safety glasses. Forster Catalogs are available upon request. HG001-001 Rev. 2
  17. Are you using a NIB coated Bolt ?
  18. Surprising the video is " Unavailable " Couldn't help myself
  19. I have a L.E. Wilson Case Trimmer & the Holder for the Brass Case is not like a lot of the big name ones . It is a Cylinder cut to trap the Case at its taper ( on Bottle Neck Cases ) & when you put the case in , you give the base of the brass a slight tap to seat it , ore or less to keep it from spinning inside the holder . The Holder has a lever that cinches it down on the precision cradle for alignment , you then tap the case mouth to pop it out of the Holder . I noticed quite a while ago, the difference on how far the case goes into the Holder when using the two different Sizing Dies & just wanted to show how much difference there is between the two types & how much more the SB sizer Die sizes the case Base . These photos are not Chamber dimensions , but the difference in how much they go into the LE Wilson case Holder are interesting . Full Length Small Base I can see if you have a tight Chamber , SB Sizing may help , of course the brass gets worked more & service life of it will suffer . Whoops, how did those get in there !
  20. Really , you sound very familiar with them , any idea where in my area ?
  21. I have to admit , the combo of Press & Dies , sure make some precise Ammo , Out of fifty , only five were over 0.001" run out & they were between 0.002" -0.004" . I have never had a Concentricity Gage before , but measuring a vast amount of my reloads & Factory ammo , most are in the 0.004" or slightly above run out , this is just amazing to me . Now the trick is , will these dead nuts ammo out shoot various , out of normal or normal run out ammo , thats the real question ,but they may not show off at shorter ranges , I think , longer range they may have a better showing & I think I found a new 600 yard range close to me
  22. Well you deserve it for where the Bolt Catch is supposed Catch the Bolt , but Brownells sent me an AR 15 Rifle Buffer Spring ,when I ordered a 308AR one , sure glade they got the Buffer correct , never take anything for granted in the 308AR world . I discovered it while researching a Thread about Buffer springs & it was a WTF , I should have known better .
  23. I think your info is still in my PP also , I have to look .
  24. WTF
  25. I have always read about other reloaders having to do it , but never need it myself , well , until now . I reloaded that 70 some rounds & made a new Dummy round with a COL of 2.775" for the 155 gr. SMK & it had no issues with any of the 308AR's or the Bolt Gun , so now that I learned how to reload again , I think this Fodder is ready for another testing . I reloaded the same brass or what was left , that still had the way out , run out , a couple have over 0.0010" & all so far that are Made on the new MEC is all below 0.002" run out . Going back to the range Tuesday , with all the other old farts again .
