  1. now I'm going to ask questions... What type of gauges did you use? what is your rifle chambered for? where there marks on the casing after you got it out of the chamber? what ammo were you shooting? More questions to follow... pending on answers.
  2. one key note about checking headspace is... make sure you use proper gauge for the correct caliber. if your rifle is chambered in .308, make sure that they are .308 gauges. if your rifle is chambered in 7.62mm, make sure your gauges are 7.62mm. there is just enough difference between the two that using the wrong one, could lead to problems. just remember... you can shoot .308 in a 7.62 NATO chambered rifle, but you can't (not supposed to) shoot 7.62 NATO in a .308 chambered rifle. you may do it once or twice, but the end result will be bad. anything from a stuck casing to a ruptured chamber.

  4. Over time I will be building more information and comparison of the 2 different styles of the .308 rifle. Some of this information I had shared on other sites also. but if there is anything specific that you guys think I should cover... let me know.
  5. Now that had been a thought.... but... After going through the my settings page and looking through all 8 tabs... I did not find anything to change what is called the membership title. Why does it say "100" anyway?
  6. How do you change your members title?
  7. I found a set of plans for a reloading bench. I half assed priced it out on Lowes. Just for the lower portion bench, it would be about $201.42 in materials. Reloading bench.pdf

  17. I will start converting them to pdf files so we can put them in a library. But here's the trick question... where's the library at? and who has the key?
  18. Well actually, I'm in East Moline, IL. now. But like to ride the motorcycle where ever I can. I do have a sister in Newton, IA... if that helps.
  19. Anybody in or around this area?
  20. I still have some spare parts packed away somewhere. Let me know what you might need.
  21. sorry I've been gone so long... it is a good feeling to know you were missed. It really does make one feel better. As for the Tech notes, I still have copies of them and would be more than willing to put a library / list together of all the ArmaLite Tech notes by number and title for everybody's reference needs.
  22. Well ladies and gents, Let me start this out by saying I apologize for being gone for so long. It's been a rough patch for the past year and a half. BUT... in that time frame... I had lost my job, gone through a knock down drag out divorce :909:, moved (twice), and now just struggling to get by on a day to day biases. For a while it was real hard to find a job in the field I specialize in unless I wanted to go back overseas to work. After the last time I was there though and was in an IED explosion, I have decided I don't want to do that. So the search continues. I did manage to land a job in the private security world locally, it's not the best paying gig, but at least I'm employed. I managed to secure a good portion of my belongings before and firearms before everything else was lost. And now I think I'm in a house that I hope to be staying in for a while. It may be small, but I call it home. Along with that, I have a girlfriend that takes good care of me too. I'm still practicing working on firearms here locally and working on getting my name out there to be recognized in that field, but it's hard to land a job when half the gun shops don't have a repair shop on site anymore. Either way, I'm back and looking at helping in anyway that I can as rude and crude as I can be. :blahblah: :laughing4:
  23. I have not heard anything back from the OP on this.
  24. I understand that... just thought it was interesting and wanted to share. The only thing that I was aiming at is that they own both Remington and Bushmaster and both are in the same building complex... So they wouldn't be able to sell one without selling the other, unless they kick Bushmaster out to the curb... which I don't believe is going to happen either. and like you said, you cant get rich being stupid, so they would be dumb to sell now because the craze isn't over yet.
  25. Here is a news article that raised a few eyebrows... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/24/cerberus-gunmaker-divestment_n_3983104.html I think they overstepped and spoke irrationally, because they wont be able to sell off Bushmaster since they moved them into the same building as Remington. (?) thoughts? <dontknow>
