  1. I would not be surprised if ill be shooting it for the first time in cold weather :-[
  2. I feel your pain brother, I ordered a RRA LAR 8 Elite Operator on 2-15-11 and still no rifle. I went through a local gun shop.. The owner told me 6-8 weeks <dontknow> I have emailed RRA several times with no response Let me know if you get yours in and I'll do the same...
  3. I ordered a RRA LAR 8 Elite Operator from Rock River Arms through a local gun store on February 15th. That was 96 days ago. The website says the lead time on a LAR 8 is 45 to 90 days. I have not yet received the rifle <dontknow> Anyone have any experience with ordering from Rock River?
  4. That from what I heard is a good press. but have you thought of buying components separately? I bought a kit similar from Lee. I know Rock Chucker is better, but I found that I did not like using the balance scale and bought a digital one, not using the powder measurer because it broke, and bought a more expensive one. just a thought. If I had to do it over again I would have just bought the Rock chucker press then shopped around for the other components..
  5. I started mainly because of cost. the shooting range I go to only allows soft tip or hallow point rifle bullets. with My .223, I would buy the cheaper steel case stuff. But when I got my first .308, and began shooting further distance I was not happy with my grouping with the cheap steel case .308. I reload sierra Match King bullets and my groups got allot tighter...
  6. survivalshop, I am fairly new to .308AR reloading, do you use a short base resizing die?? I was told it was best to, but I also heard it over works your brass??
  7. unless I've totally missed em these RCBS AR dies are new to the reloading market. The seating die has a taper crimp! I've been using a Lee factory crimping die, these will nix that extra step. http://www.cabelas.com/presses-dies-rcbs-series-small-base-die-rifle-set.shtml?type=product&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleBaseUSA&WT.z_mc_id1=1170689&rid=40&mr:trackingCode=FA41D3DE-3624-E011-8E88-001B21631C34&mr:referralID=NA
  8. I am waiting on my RRA LAR-8 from Rock River! They said six weeks, but could take 8 :( I am not a patient person!!....Anyway since you have mentioned, I have noticed that there is a lot of on line stuff I used to get with no issue that is now on backorder <dontknow> most of the items on Midway USA are on freaking back order?? WTF!!!
  9. Great find!
  10. No Lie.. seems like its supply and demand <dontknow> And they tag on 10 bucks for shipping.... Yah I got to re subscribe to Shotgun news...
  11. New to the .308 AR scene. Has anyone tried these mags?? http://whatacountry.com/fn-fal308magazine.aspx
  12. Thanks
  13. Sorry for a stupid question, but will these fit AR's that take FAL mags? The RRA LAR-8 I have ordered takes the FAL mag, from what I understand?
  14. Get this one RRA Elite Operator <thumbsup>
  15. Ordered my RRA Elite Opertor .308 from my local gun shop The other day. Good news, good price 1,430 out the door. Bad news its going to take six weeks for them to get it in from Rock River arms... I am NOT a patient person :-[ Any way, I hear these AR's take FAL mags, any good place to get after market high quality mags??
  16. Very nice but pricy..I bought a 450 busmaster upper for 499.00 on sale, and put it on a RRA lower with a 2 stage trigger, I picked up new at a gun show for $250. ammo not too expensive to reload, and makes a great hog gun...
  17. You loading the rounds to 2.80 length? I was thinking of using 43 grs of varget behind 168gr sie BT to start with??
  18. Thanks for all the replies on my first post. I have decided on an RRA 16" AR. I like the two stage trigger! BUT I am going to reload for this gun, and everyting ive read is saying 2.80 OAL, I also reload for .223 so I use Hodgen Varget powder. my question is is there anyone else reloding with Varget for this rifle, and is 2.80 working ok in this type of rifle??? <dontknow>
  19. Nice gun, fun to shoot, alittle loud, but been pretty much problemless
  20. Hey there, I have owned an M1a1 SOCOM,, and now in the market for an AR variation .308. I'm thinking the Rockriver arms operator, or Bushmaster ORC carbine. I reload, using the 168 gr sierra HPBT and varget powder, which I have used for my SOCOM, is there any changes in reloading data that I need to take into consideration, going to an AR .308?
