Tony Send it back and get what you need and change the brand of gas block...my suggestion would be to get and adjustable gas block while you are sending stuff back... so change brands of stuff too Wash

LOL so I went down to the bunker and checked a few ar308s that had exposed dust cover pins...yours seems to be sticking out beyond the upper..it needs to go back so its a tad lower than flush...and if you look real close you can see where the bozo that put the dust cover pin in marred the threads on that side .. run the barrel nut up and down with that anti seize to straighten the threads out Wash well crap the aero photo is too small but the pin is pushed back unlike yours

And if the detent pin/spring does not come installed in your upper....when you go to do it ...do it inside a giant baggie....cause the detent will vanish along with spring ... I can gurantee that...they do make a tool for that but thats too easy. Lol. Wash Gun tool prolly. Two things i see ...your dust cover pin is too far forward and will interfere with the barrel nut from what i can make out..... and your mag button needs to be screwed down a lil more Thats where the blue tape comes on on the other side...push in the button using a punch and turn the latch a few turns more. Wash The dust cover pin too far forward mabe an optical delusion on my part. Lol

Tony dont wanna bug ya...but...dont do anything in your build that you are not sure of...come here before you start sanding, freezing or torching any of your parts ...you got your claw ? your torque wrench...some moly type grease for the barrel nut?... your punches?you need some blue painters tape applied to the lower where the mag lever screws down...so it wont scratch your lower opposite side of mag button....and the small end of gas tube goes into gas block with the hole in the tube lined up with the hole inside gas block...and do not bend the gas tube pin putting it in...take your time Wash

Tony ...put down the parts and slowly back away the gas tube end that is belled out is the end that goes into the upper ....the small end goes into the gas block............ the .750 is the journal size of the barrel where the gas port is located..... the barrel slides into the upper and is loose till you tighten it down with a barrel nut..... Whoa whoa.... put up some pics of that stuff... lets take a look before the butchering starts Wash and you slid the gb to where the port is and its loose? whats your standard of loose...clamp on screw down? the gas tubes diameters are different on each end

RRS so okay ...your upper i guess is the high profile dpms? I think the lower ones arnt made anymore by anyone...there are guides on how to measure go look that up,but im pretty sure yours is the high....so go pick some out and post up...Wash Well damn the m5 is high profile !
