  1. I understand the reservations everyone has about stone wheels and knives as do i, in the system i shown the wheels are cardboard, and one is covered with a fine grit, and the other a compound just to take the burr off, its simple and works for me, but you have to work with whats comfortable for yourself...
  2. I have tried everything under the sun, and for something thats works thats reasonably priced i use this... http://www.sharpeningwheels.com/ Do a search on it, theres a lot of info on it..
  3. I think what redbaron8's concern is that he has a rifle gas system and is using a collapsible stock, so its probably got a carbine buffer in there, correct me if i misread it, i am still on my first cup of coffee lol....
  4. Hi robocop, i think what happened to mine and possibly survivalshop was that we both had tumblers that were used with walnut and corncob for years and the thick rubber liner that the tumbler comes with got impregnated with rouge and other crap, ( i had to actually scrap mine wth a scraper after soaking it overnight) plus the fact that as you said about the media being stored and tarnished, contributed to the black water, but all is good now after a few tumblings the water is just dirty from the brass... I keep saying that its too much work but when you see that brass so clean inside and out and especially those primer pockets , i say what the heck wheres that next batch, lol..Thanks robocop for the research you did to help figure this out, i hope the wife is better...
  5. I had similar things happen also....I had my tumbler since the early 70's and it also has never seen water until i used the stainless media, and mine was very black, and i mean black...I think the stainless media itself was very dirty, and contributed to the blackness of the water...
  6. Okay now you got me on a quest... Try this guy, i put one in my shopping cart, and it didn't say it was out of stock... http://www.weaponoutfitters.com/products/aac-blackout-51t-7-62-and-similar

  8. http://www.advanced-armament.com/product.aspx?pid=493#pid=630 Click on the thread pitch for the 5/8x 24
  9. I just did some for the first time, and they come out great, nice and clean inside and out...The downside is the tumbler doesn't hold many 308's and the cleanup seems to take awhile between getting all the water out and waiting for it to dry, but i'll probably do it again... <thumbsup>
  10. Thanks Herk for taking the time to write that.....You have a nice writing style that made me enjoy reading it... ;D
  11. Very nice!!...... <thumbsup> And welcome to the site...
  12. This rifle will shoot calibers from .243 to .338LM and a few inbetween, kinda expensive but it seems to deliver what they claim... http://www.deserttacticalarms.com/guns/precision-rifles/test-group-product.html# Also here's that "russian guy" testing it, with .308 and .338LM.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHtHE_ukpug&feature=watch_response
  13. Thank you!!
  14. The 9mm buffer is a little heavier than the standard one, and i it slows the cycling down just a wee bit, and i find that it gives me better control on rapid firing...
  15. I haven't tried it myself, but i heard the the M1/M14 loader that Lula offers will work on Armalite mags.....

  17. Sorry for the long wait, i've been doing 2 at the same time, one 15 and one 10, and i was trying to get them to look and weigh as close as possible...The Ar10 is only 1lb more than the 15, and without skimping on the 10...The 15 is about 7lb 15oz. and the 10 is 8lb 15oz...
