I also own a mas 49/56 but mine remains in the original 7.5 French caliber and the original stock. The caliber is very good and ammo is readily available online. I believe this is a fine rifle. And for you AR fans out there this rifle is a direct impingment design that pre-dates the AR platform.

Sometimes it pays to have high placed neighbors. I used to live two doors down from a Tampa City Councilwoman and two doors down in the other direction from an Assistant State Attorney. Our street received nearly constant police patrols and street sweepers once a week. TPD officers would often park at the end of our street on city owned property. Hell, city owned reclaimed water trucks would come down our street and water our front lawns twice a week. No charge. Even though we were only minutes from the projects there was almost never any trouble. Some neighbors are just good to have.

I often change the firearm I CCW, but, my favorites are my SA EMP in a Kramer Horsehide holster w/FBI tilt (inschur recentley turned me onto this one and I like it very much), my Kahr P45 in a Don Hume holster (very good holster) my HK45c in a Blackhawk leather holster (also very good) my HK P7 in a custom holster from Johnston's in Alaska (OK holster) and my S&W 340PD in a Galco (don't really like this holster). I'm going to get a Kramer for the 340PD.

As far as I've been able to determine it's a Belgian Nitro Proof mark. Means it's been proofed to extremely high pressure. PV in oval under crown.

Well, that problem's solved. It's been on the sales wall for about six hours and I just sold it for $1100.00 to the second person who looked at it.

I bought two for my twin neices and they're fine shooting little rifles. When they outgrew them we ordered adult sized stocks for them from the mfg. They make incredibly lightweight and accurate squirrel rifles for adults. You can carry them all day long without fatigue.

You'd have to give about 50 pints. Ouch...I feel dizzy.
