  1. First they tried that "fairness doctrine", which was implemented voluntarily, and tons of liberals got talk shows/talk radio programs. Fail. Nobody wanted to sponsor them, nobody wanted to listen. So now they want to implement the original plan of forced silence.
  2. Maybe…but low level corruption will soon kick in, when low-level cronies realize they can make bucks sneaking it out the back door.
  3. /\/\/\/\ Mikerized
  4. Yeah…FAL mags are the absolute best reason to own a LAR-8. Unless you like it being fully ambidextrous with mag release and bolt catch, then that's two more reasons. And accuracy. If you like accuracy, there's another reason. But if you want "this is what most others are doing" compatibility or "because it's the original (name bought by license and not related in anything other than that) AR10", then go with that. Count down to Rsquared getting butthurt in 3…2...
  5. I gather from the original post your son isn't looking for something to hunt bear with, but something to stop bear with while not hunting…correct? And in Iowa, we're talking about black bear. 10mm will serve him just fine. Especially if they are Mikerized 10mm loads! :hethan:
  6. /\/\/\/\ DAWN!!! Tom's holding out on you!! <laughs>
  7. Another AZ welcome Apache!
  8. What? The SCOTUS has done such a good job protecting our private property rights from eminent domain. Oh yeah…okay, bad example. But just look at our rock solid protections against searches and siezures. Oops…another poor example. Well…er…uuhhh... You can skip right through airport security if you wear a burkha! They have passed so many laws there isn't a person on this forum who isn't guilty of transgressing them on a daily basis. SCOTUS has rejected to hear the case about misdemeanor domestic violence forever stripping a person of their gun rights, retroactively to the 1968 GCA. It now stands they may add any misdemeanor to the "list of crimes making one a prohibited possessor". The people in government have devolved to nothing more than a school yard bully, trying to control everyone everywhere.
  9. Yeah…but those kids have to deal with all the other parents' scumbags.
  10. All the ones Rob listed will make a person wish they'd gone and cleaned outhouses that day instead.
  11. I've shot some of those rounds and the Witness grip makes them very manageable! Whatch'ya workin' on for the next meet Mike?
  12. Time to start tucking pants again.
  13. Maybe a .460 Rowland for bigger hole/deeper penetration effect. For bear shooting out of a handgun, a person is going to want a solid with a wide meplat that scoots along at a respectable speed. Who was that lady in Canada that killed a record grizzly with a .22 and one shot? It can be done but it isn't recommended. If you need an excuse, bears are dangerous: http://www.stiguns.com/nitro-10/ Edited to add temptation link.
  14. +1 My friend has a G20 he shoots with loads "WELL into the .44 magnum energy range!" It shoots very nicely. Mike's (Dane Armory) Witness is a hoot to shoot too! Of the two pistols it's a bit of an edge to the Witness for me.
  15. One for Robo and Edge, one for everybody!
  16. I can hear my wife now…"Why am I finding salt everywhere?"
  17. Part of the reason Ruger failed with the XGI.
  18. Me too in '86 seasprite…no M16, M14, shotgun quals, due to Reagan's budget cuts. People a few years before and a few years after got all the fun stuff again.
  19. Ron said so…can't find the thread now.

    NUBE

    Welcome from AZ Zecura!
  21. From what I've been hearing that's some truth in advertising right there.
  22. One of my instructors was invited to a party in Marana, suspect in a cotton field shooting with a rifle. Rifle was a .30-06, officers had their .40s and one shotgun with buckshot. One of the officers hit the suspect at 110 yards with his .40 pistol. After that, my friend started carrying slugs in his shotgun. Same dept was just out doing annual quals. 25 officers. On "patrol carbine" (M4-geries), 3 qualified on the first try. Dude copped an attitude when I said "You know, we do after work tutoring if any of your officers are interested."
  23. What kind of ammo are you loading? What brand of dies? What type of bullets? I have a batch of Remington .308 JSPRN for .30-30 that vary in length 0.015". I've seen other soft points like that too. Progressives or autopresses? The most important part of operating the press is operator consistency. This is magnified 100-fold with an autopress, as the linkage operates multiple functions at once. Oh yeah…how about some photos?
  24. Watched that NHS live. Got back from the ranch with the old lady, started channel flipping and WHOA!
