  1. SHTF guns are subjective. The most important one you can have is your handgun, as that should be on your person and allow you to get back to the nearest and most effective long gun for the situation at hand. Lots of folks carry truckguns. These are usually a beater long gun that is easy-handling and will take care of most situations on a day-to-day basis. Popular ones I've seen are Mini14s and lever-guns in handgun calibers. For my SHTF it will be either a lever gun in .357 or .45 Colt, or my new Elite Operator, Liberty. Chances are for me crap will hit while I'm in a fairly urban environment. Accuracy is essential to 70 yards and not really much more than that. If the opportunity/situation mandates a relocation to a rural or wilderness environment, I'm packing lots of .22-caliber guns. More ammo, less noise. Jon
  2. Howdy from AZ pdc! Jon
  3. Welcome Team Helotes! Jon
  4. Welcome bigbore! I guess you like those Gasbusters alright. How is the leverage on them compared to a stock CH? Jon
  5. Us .22 shooters are a funny bunch. Almost to a person, we started shooting with them and then moved up to "serious calibers" and "serious guns", only to rediscover that .22s are what it is all about...fun, family, friends, shooting, and skills! I've had numerous students take classes with their "proper" guns, shoot .22s with the non-owner students, then go out and buy a new .22 in a couple of weeks. Don't lose the mystery! Jon
  6. Of the few people I've known that fired 3,000 to 5,000 a month, all reloaded that ammo, worked for sheriffs' departments here in AZ, and spent consdierable amounts of time on shift in the middle of nowhere, shooting. Jon
  7. RRA website says 1.1#s lighter than the 20" Operator, stock. Probably about 10.5 or a bit less, loaded. Due to the shorter length it sure is easy to move around! Jon
  8. Bro you are gonna HAVE to try my 16"er! Jon
  9. Voodoo MOLLE shotgun scabbard, roll pin punch set, several targets. Jon
  10. 10K rounds in .22 Long Rifle would be $400. In .308, if you're lucky, you would be at about $5,000. Not impossible...if you work at the Mustang Ranch. Jon
  11. A three-way tie! Looks like I'm committed to the LAR08 platform, with two in the stable now. Jon
  12. Welcome from AZ killshot! Jon
  13. Haven't tried that one but have a similar model. Maybe when you make it to AZ you can give a demo of that model you have. <thumbsup> Jon
  14. I did a sample squirt of the Master Lock stuff. It definately drys and does so fast! But it drys white and sploogy, er, splotchy. Might try it out on the Freedom Machine's BCG/bolt. Jon
  15. You never go downtown or to the university at ALL?! <laughs> Jon
  16. Welcome ericacp45! Funny. I had a key made and didn't have cash on me, so I bought a can of Master Lock Dry Lubricant, since they had a minimum charge. It says good from -80 up to 575F or somewhere thereabouts. Still a bit chicken to try it on any of my bigboys. Jon
  17. Thanks edgecrusher. Looked at Brownell's again, as I get a discount with them...same price as their retail. <dontknow> I like the reticle a bit better though. Jon
  18. I did, when I almost ordered it yesterday. <laughs> Curses!! I want it NOW Brownell's!! Jon
  19. Almost there, Springfield! I wrote them to request an 8-round magazine single-stack XDM, with the 4.5" would be ideal. I've also said quite often that the XD/XDM platform is begging...just BEGGING...to be chambered in 10mm! Jon
  20. I've been creative with limited ideas my whole life...but it usually gets me in some sort of trouble. :cookoo: Jon
  21. Chris! Glad you made it here. Welcome from AZ! Jon
  22. 98,are you mixing up licensing with cobranding? I don't remember the Holosight saying anything on it but Bushnell. This new one is supposed to say both Eotach and Brownell's on it. Jon
  23. Ultraviolet, welcom from AZ! You came to the right place! Jon
  24. Welcome from AZ! Jon
  25. (1) I like a two-stage trigger on anything. The one on my latest RRA is Da Bomb! (2) No input here. (3) 18" is good, excellent power and good accuracy. I'm digging on the 16" RRA. Jon
