  1. I like it! The Desert Eagle has always filled a kind of novelty niche. With the size of yours, it may give the wheelies a run for their money! Redhawk, Blackhawk, and the 29/629 are owned by a lot of folks that are fans of the .44 power, but not the revolvers. Jon
  2. Very cool! Anyone try the AR powder by Alliant (I think)? Jon
  3. I do see a need in some situations for unions but will relay why I don't like unions. As a youth here in Arizona, once again the negotiations for a contract were failing, so copper miners in Ajo (AH-ho) went on strike. A man who was on probation (and therefore unable to join the union and unable to strike) was being harrassed as a scab. A mob of striking union members did a drive-by shooting on his house, striking and killing his little girl. No one was ever arrested. None of the union members ever told who the murderers were. To me, and yes I know it doesn't represent most union people, I don't want to be associated with people that see it as "an unavoidable tragedy" that a child was murdered instead of a "scab". When working corrections the Fraternal Order of Police just reinforced my belief that current unions are mostly worthless. The local FOP officers were corrections administrative personell and didn't "want to make waves". But they'll take money from my already low pay to support the union. I'll pass. Jon
  4. Registered to vote? Get him on the ballot! Jon
  5. I got a strange email from somebody.someone@Brownells.com referring to an order number I've never had. Now I'm wondering if they have a virus or something. Jon
  6. I don't give a crap about seeing holes once I'm sighted in. If I can see zombie brain-spray at 600 or 700 yards in my rifle scope, that's just fine. <thumbsup> Jon
  7. Welcome from AZ Ncorry! Jon
  8. Welcome ErikS! Jon
  9. Brownell's must be BUSY! Got the order confirmation but still have yet to hear about shipping or processing. Usually they send those out one on top of the other. Jon
  10. That Barska looks exactly like a Winchester-branded spotter these dudes had at the range. The pop-out dust cover is pretty slick! Jon
  11. Welcome kerstingm! I have a RRA but I don't believe they are compatible with any other AR308 format. Your wife is a keeper! I'm sure you know that though. <thumbsup> Jon
  12. I've no experience with any of them but Welcome, Blksheep! Jon
  13. Unforgiven, like I say I didn't try it. I'll pay admission for the film if you do! I'll change the sights out, survivalshop. They are supposed to be on really tight on the XDMs. Doubt they could be more secure that Mini14 attachments from the factory, with that brown locker goop. Jon
  14. I have a Simmons 20-50x60mm. It came with a telescoping tripod. It works better than I expected, as I got it on sale and had a 20% rebate also. It can view .22 caliber holes at 100 yards, which is all I needed. Jon
  15. The ledge is nicer for one-handed racking. With those low profile sights, I heard you were supposed to (finger off the trigger) WHAM the slide into your crack, clench your butt, push hard. Never tried it like that though. Jon
  16. Okay, not free. Discounted! Discounted! With that awesome giftcard imschur put forth for the contest! It has been put to good work at Brownell's, granting me a $50 discount off of a Heine Straight 8 night sight set for the still-being-shipped XDM .45, and an extra magazine for the same. This discount has allowed me to apply other funds towards the now in route RRA Elite Operator, so (in a round-about way) it has gone towards a 308AR! Pics once they are installed! Jon
  17. Welcome marine24! Jon
  18. You almost got me caught in that little rifle too! Fortunately, I was able to find an Elite Operator to prevent me from spending the money on the TS! <lmao> Jon
  19. That there get's you to thinking! Decades ago, when I lived with this wonderful lady, we resided in an end apartment on a long building. There were four or five apartments, all with a common parking lot in front and a common yard in back, bordered by an oleander hedge for the length of it, with no border on either end. One night, Rita said "I'm bored. Nothing ever happens around here." At that VERY INSTANT, we could hear the sound of the Tucson Police's Jet Ranger slapping wind and headed our way, accompanied by the sound of several squad car sirens getting louder. Running to the sliding glass door on the back of the apartment, we looked out towards the other end of the yard. A Chevy Nova sped into sight on the side street, hit a dumpster, and disappeared towards the front. Rita and I ran the 17 feet to the front door and pulled it open just in time to see the Nova with the now dangling front right quarter panel skid up (barely missing plowing into her car), three squad cars skidding to a stop in the street, as the driver of the Nova bolts around the end of the apartment towards the backyard. Headed back to the rear sliding glass door, Rita yells "GET YOUR GUN!!" No. That's not gonna happen, me charging into the backyard in my underwear, .357 waving around screaming in spanglish for the driver to get down on the ground, while half a shift of adrenaline pumped cops see a target. Anyway, back to the sliding glass door just in time to see the driver running about as fast as a short illegal alien can run, jet past, with the first cop 50 or so feet behind and closing fast. Unfortunately for the driver, some of the cops stopped on the other end of the apartment building. One pumped up cop LAUNCHED from behind the short oleanders, closing on the suspect like a missile on a drone, caught the runner and SLAMMED him on the hood of the nearest cop car. Mind you, even though the excitement had stopped at this point, there were still three cop cars with sirens blazing 12 feet outside our front door. Once things settled down, and I got dressed, we asked the cops what happened. Murder suspect? Circle K robber? Kidnapper? Nope...the lit him up for a cracked tail light. Rita never again said "I'm bored!" Jon
  20. The Freedom Machine is my RRA LAR-8 Standard Operator, GB is Gunbroker, and NIB is New In Box. Jon
  21. Hhmmm...That little rifle looks familiar. <thumbsup> Jon
  22. God our Creator wants everybody with a working moral compass to own weapons in general, guns in particular. It is now a full-bodied thread. <thumbsup> Jon
  23. Haven't ordered one yet. Got the Freedom Machine off GB, NIB in-stock. Accidentally ordered an Elite Operator LAR-8 that was NIB and in-stock too. Sshhhh...wifey doesn't know...yet. Jon
  24. Sadistic would be to have a taser mounted to your shotgun. Shoot them with the taser, zap them until it looks like the battery is draining, then shoot them. Jon
