I was detached from my ship in Toulon, France, and took a train to Nice, because that's where the international airport is located for the region, about a 2-hour train ride. In typical military fare, we weren't told where we were going until the tickets were in our hand. "Where the hell is 'Neice'? Is it close to this Nice place?" In typical coastal city fashion and layout, Nice is setup with most commercial/business along the coast line. Beautiful, clean city. The nightlife all happens along those main thoroughfares, slowiy curving the contour around the bay. An ideal amphitheater for fireworks on their national birthday. A perfect setup for the maniacal truck attack.
