Took me long enough to report back here... I talked to 5 different people that day. Seems like a decent place to work. They make these little blood testing machines that are portable. I don't have a feeling one way or the other. My resume is good enough, one guy said I was first they they interviewed. I am rusty at interviewing because I had not done any in years. Last guy I talked to, who was an upper mgmt guy, said he is also gonna hire new engineering mgr in few weeks and said he would like to have me talk to him before anything else happens. I dunno if that was BS or not. Didn't feel warm or cold walking out of there. I think I better really start looking hard now <dontknow>

You mean it's not already? It's not IF he signs it. He will sign it on the 27th. The senate it set to confirm it.... I can see the day when we have guys with blue helmets riding around here in APC's and making their rounds in the neighborhood. I don't think it's Mr. Rogers neighborhood either. I remember the first time I heard the name "New World Order". I heard it out of George Herbert Walker Bush's mouth in 1989 or was it 90? Obama, Romney, does it really matter? AMMO, AMMO & and more AMMO!!!!

I wish I knew, bro. It was a nice clear day maybe 75 F. setup looked ok. The thing drains batteries like a 6' diameter sewer line though, especially when using printer. They have a IR sensor upgrade for this model. Could be sun angle I guess. Was acting stupid, lots of readings like 536 fps or 345 fps or mostly no readings at all. Pissing me off & helped screw my day and ammo with all work I put into it, & cost....

Yeah I know, I've been laying low since last time. I want to start again with the new brass. I'm thinking I'll try starting from 47.1 again but do the 3 shot groups like you doing. I already know I don't have pressure signs up to 48.1 so I won't do round robin. But maybe I'll load up to 48.3 or even 48.5 like you also suggested. Not sure I wan to go past that. I hope that chrono starts working well, it worries me what I saw from it the last time. I'll get new batteries for it maybe that was it I don't know. But it was a joke last time and I'm not happy with it right now.

It seems to me that Varget is just about the most popular for our .308's. I have been holding off on trying it out. I think I have to let my 4064 & CFE223 run it's course. I just can't focus on another powder until I'm convinced I have done all I can with the others, with the bullets I try them with. But I'll try the Varget sooner or later I know. EDIT: one thing is I read this thread to read about the XBR and like so many other threads everywhere it kind of drifted to Varget <dontknow>

Yes seasprite I ordered brass from Midway on Friday when I checked for it, it came in stock again. I ordered 3 bags of 50 I think $18.79 a bag something like that. That's a good buy for the Winchester brass. They had Hornady Match available now too, that was over $32 for box of 50, I just got the Winchester. I have a 100 box of 178 Amax now to work on later.

3rd try looks awesome for 200 yards, seasprite <thumbsup> Yes I've done reading some places and I suspect the cfe223 is temp sensative.

Yeah Survivorshop, I've been thinking about that. I think as I get more trigger time I hope I realize good things to write down. My bro in law has a notebook he records his faves in and even cuts out the whatever group and tapes it in there with pertinent data. As for now I just gots them printouts and you <laughs> Question: Lapua brass or Lapua Palma? Do you guys like the smaller primer in Palma? I just need to make a decision, Winchester, Lapua, Nosler or Hornady or what? How about Lake City? But I've found some Lapua or Winchester but all others so far out of stock, I keep looking.......... I know lapua more $$ but it's way better out of box and you get more loadings so it evens out against Win..... What I'm thinking but then again it's a gas gun.... I do have Hornady match & Nosler but those I loaded up awhile ago, why <dontknow> why I did that.

Because it's made in China? Well shoot brother unforgiven, oh hell yesterday I was drinking Red Stripes at BBQ when I posted something, LOL!!! Good thing I slept it off before reading this... I would tell you about CHINA!!!! Not their fault though....

Thanks Matt.Cross!!! Yeah I'm gonna go for it tomorrow, this one is up my alley. I hope our personalities mesh like syrup on pancakes tomorrow. I've been okay, for now, otherwise. Have a backlog of cash-on-hand if I need it, but I don't want to need it.

unforgiven, I love you.... I have lived a comfortable life here. Grew up with father who had a good business, never had to want for anything, always in good health. Still I feel as well as years ago, if this is 50 bring on 60,'I mean I fell good, could drop dead tomorrow but I'll feel good doing it. So you see, I have not your experience. I am spoiled and I am California. We out here, we are spoiled, stupid and ignorant, with exception to folk like Robocop. Just look at the state of this state, didn't happen because people here are smart. Idiots here vote in ish loads of commies and wonder why we so fkd up... Used to be a great state.... But anyway, you have dealt with your hand admirably, my brother, your character is impregnable. I have been given gifts in my life, lots of them, and squandered, not invested them. I am from California... Red Stripe beer is my goto beer by the way

^^^ okay guys, I understand what you are saying and why <thumbsup>

Thank you seasprite. There is a lot of great stuff coming from you that I, I think many of us never knew. I like it when Survivalshop throws in too <thumbsup> I never loaded a rifle cartridge until my AR308 was born (just .44 mag & .45 Colt). I have yet to shoot good with it. I have this fear that I will shoot right thru a load my gun loves and not even know it because I can't shoot for poop with it yet, and loose that load forever without a clue. Or maybe my loads so far are crap and it makes me think I can't shoot straight <dontknow>

Hey thanks you guys... I care about you guys, it's like family here now, the Internet is a good thing when used properly and without malice. I live a lot of my recent life here in this little web site and find happiness in it, it's because of ya'all. unforgiven, brother, you are a better & stronger man than I. Really, I would have quit or died, one of the two. Been working in air-conditioned modern buildings for years in the Silicon Valley. I don't know that I can handle an outdoor environment on a freaking hot day or a friggen cold one. I'm fifty and don't wanna find out anytime soon. Brother 6132Expert, God has a plan for you as does he all. We might not like it a lot of the time but its his plan. Don't give up faith, brother!!!

Yes 98', I'll call you crazy if you want, but yes indeedy I believe you must be right... Thanks <thumbsup>

Hmmmm, but what is the logic in round robin? What do u learn from it compared to other method of shooting the same 3 shot group all at once at target and then moving up the ladder with next group into it's own target? Doesn't it all come out the same anyhow? Thanks seasprite...
-
Round Robin. So you go around once like that and then when you get back to the first target you begin again with the starting, in this case, 46.6 CFE? Do you load for 3 of those Round Robin deals too?

Went to range with 25 rounds I loaded CFE 47.1 grains for bullet seating depth ladder test & another 25 rounds CFE 48.1 grains bullet seating depth ladder test. First 25 rounds with 47.1 grains CFE groupings sucked. Cleaned barrel and started with 48.1 grains CFE. Shot one round, shot next round primer came out of pocket. Fished primer out and at that time cease fire called. While waiting I decided to pack it up. I knew there was a few more primers that weren't as tight as normal when using the hand primer press. Thought it prudent to quit right then and there. Nothing was going right, chrono not reading right. When I broke it down I think I noticed I didnt have the sensors at the correct distance from each other, not sure though. First two groups of 47.1 grains powder I didn't use sand bags, realized I better use them cause I was shaky today. I'm going to pull all the remaining rounds and start over. I think I'm going to poop can all that brass and get new Winchester. I need a new bulk supply anyway. I have 3 & 4 loadings on those ones in question and I can't trust them after today. Should have gave up on the ones with loose primers in the first place but now I don't know which ones they were, so there is one mistake right there. Go ahead and stick with loose primer pockets, loose ones in your chamber. Loose one in your chamber, get a FTE/FTF. Get a FTE/FTF, mess up and loose the polymer tip of your incoming Amax. Mess up and loose the polymer tip of your Amax, go full auto if you decide to shoot anyway. Don't decide to shoot anyway and go full auto <munch> No pressure signs on anything I shot.

yeah, brother unforgiven, it's loads of fun too <munch> EDIT; "loads" of fun" <laughs> LoL no pun intended!!!
-
Ahhhh I see, I didn't think of checking that way, only thought of shoot some rounds out of mag and then remove mag and check the ones in bottom of mag. Yeah ok, duh!!!! :)
-
seasprite I didn't realize what I was asking. That must have been some work to write that down for me, thank you, Brother. I'll go through that 1st method it doesn't seem too hard. I'll verify whether or not by bullets are working out under recoil and then see about correction, but I can't mess with new sizer die it's only half mine.... So this is your Point Blank zero based on your load where it is now, the 2.790" with ave velocity of 2655. I was just messing around with new toy, all in fun... It is correct if your sight height is 2.75", I assume that it is.....
