Heh!! I was wondering if I was going to hear from someone here about that <laughs> My garage is 60 feet deep, I was doing it at 40 ft deep no lights turned on inside, although it was bright sun outside you would have to really be looking with interest to even notice I was in there. Believe me, I considered it ;)

This are some great quotes. One of the ones I really is K.

Yeah, on my list, which is from the Hodgdon/IMR/Win guys, IMR 4895 is Slower at #72 on the list and H 4895 is #69. There are 120 powders from everybody. I'll try it though, I'll try the IMR too.

Thanks guys mil/mil, I love the reticule too. I took a dime size orange sticker and stuck it on the tele pole 100 yards up the street. I could see dot no problem and the hairs did not cover it. I'm going to like this <thumbsup>

That's the antithesis of what i would have expected as far as that velocity. All the data I too have seen says H4895 not as much velocity as the ones I mentioned. 43.8 grains IMR 4064, Win brass, 168 A-Max chrono'd to 2519 ave. with a 5 round group out my 16". Not so fast out of my barrel, but it had an ES of 23.7 & SD of 8.9 FPS. With 43.5 grains the ES was 7.6 FPS & SD was 3.5 FPS!!! That raises an eyebrow. I'm not done with the IMR 4064 yet and it's probably a keeper. It would be great if I can get some velocity out of the H4895 but we'll see. That's why I wanted to try the CFE223, Monday I'll be bringing some more loads of it to the range, but that one is slower burn rate than all the rest mentioned previously. I don't know now if that's good for my short barrel, maybe I'm paranoid.

Hi ipsick, I saw your bolt is a JP like mine. Not that it matters I guess but here are some pics of it. Pics aren't the greatest, maybe you'll gather something from them. My bolt has only maybe 300 shots pounded on it, if that.

Welcome aboard to the site, blwn99x!!! You will get plenty of advice here <thumbsup> For gas system you want at least a mid length on the 16". I have mid on my 16" and it's working out well it seems to me. What will you be utilizing your new rifle for? I would prefer to build my own upper. That way you customize for only what you wantmand not have to change anything you get stuck with on someones built upper, saves money that way if you can be disciplined. On mine I started out thinking I would be disciplined but coudn't resist going top shelf on lots of the parts and spent lots more than I had first imagined, so easy to do <laughs> In the end I'm glad for it though.

You will like the light one <thumbsup>

Jimmy here is a BCG in stock http://www.fulton-armory.com/boltcarriergroupcompletetitanincludesboltcomplete.aspx But I don't like that price, this one I think was less the last time I checked here, must be the times? What do you think, Guys? But if it came down too it I would do this http://www.fulton-armory.com/bolt-carrier-titan-chrome-with-chrome-key.aspx And then get this http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPBC-EB308

Darn it!!! <lmao> :D Jimmy, have you seen one of these yet? http://www.outdoorgearbarn.com/p-21591-magpul-ar15-afg1-angled-fore-grip-black.aspx Thanks for the site, Wash <thumbsup>

I forgot to ask, What color did you chose with the Magpul stuff? I've got the UBR and I love it!!! Don't listen to Wash he not know what he talking about <lmao> <laughs> Oh, but he's right the UBR is heavy but that does not bother me, it is very well built and is the only one that held up to a butt stock crash comparison drop test, all others broke, UBR did not. It's expensive too yeah? That doesn't bother me either, well not anymore anyway <lmao>

What you have ordered or have so far is beautiful. What the guys said about trigger. I can't speak for triggers except for the one I have. I think it's a great trigger. But everybody raves about the Geissele (spelling?) and they make lot's of models to choose from. They make a 3 Gun trigger that might be the one I'd choose right now. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/344901/geissele-super-dynamic-trigger-3-gun-version-ar-15-lr-308-small-pin-154-matte Then there is the AR Gold for .308. That is another I would have on my short list. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=45085/Product/AR-STYLE-308-GOLD-TRIGGER-MODULE I have the JP EZ trigger from JP Enterprises, comes with JP safety selector included in price and you can have that be ambi if you want for just a wee little more money. http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.8.1_ezt.php There are so many other trigger options, these ones are on my short list. Well I have the one but if I had another build going I'd likely chose one of the other two just to try a different one. Whatever trigger you choose, if you don't know already, it is highly recommended the minimum trigger pull weight for a .308 AR is 4lbs. If you go much less than that is said that the .308 AR can go full auto on you. That is because of recoil of the .308 if you have too light of a trigger pull the trigger can be bouncing off your finger and keep going, I think it happens something like that or other, however it happens it's not good.

Lee Double Disc kit, must go Midway or Brownell's and see what this is, I never heard of it... Watch I'll probably go there and buy something, anything <lmao> <laughs> <munch>

Managed to get a few pics. They are from my iPhone 4 (not 4s). Pictures DO NOT represent at all, but best I could do. Really looks way better in every way than these pics do. Took these at about 8:20 pm. I used a tree beyond my backyard, I estimate range to tree is about 300 yards. Sun is off to the right about ready to go into hiding, scope was almost useless about 15 or so minutes after this.

Edit: I was on another forum a few days ago and started a thread "Burn Rate to Barrel Length". My AR308 has a 16" barrel and I was thinking maybe I should try a faster burning powder than I have used so far (so far just 4064 & CFE). so the first answer I get is H4895, and he made a point to say "Not the IMR 4895 but the H4895". On my list of powder relative burn rates, the H4895 is just above the IMR 4895 in burn rate. The H4895 does not seem to get the velocities that Varget, IMR 4064 or IMR 4895 get, but it is supposed to be accurate to shoot with. H4895 was the very first smokeless powder that Hodgdon offered to the public many moons ago. It had been used by the military before that. I'm going to finish up what I'm doing with the CFE223 and make a decision about that. Then I'll probably get a lb of this H4895 and dabble with that. The IMR 4064 is slower burning than H4895 but I am not done with it and it is good stuff. I will do some testing with that one too, I have a few lbs of it and lots of rounds already loaded with it, just haven't tried to optimize with it.

^ It's just about competition. The big drug companies don't like competing with under the table narcotics. I don't think they, or in the end the govment, gives a rats ass about out health. Heck, if we were all healthy and didn't need drugs for real medical reasons then we wouldn't need big pharma so much. They need us to be unhealthy!!! I think the govment on the other hand plays the two card monte, in the least lobby money from big pharma & then with their other hand under the table deals, CIA drug running if you will.... This accomplishes a mentally ill society at the same time, I think they prefer that.
