Well I don't know, edge, I don't have a comparator and never looked thru anything like a high power NF or S&B or whatever. I know this one can't be anywhere close to those. This is all new to me though. I bore sighted it and while doing that I thought it's pretty nice for me. Seems bright, clear enough for me, I love the reticule. But I don't know how to review a scope. From deep in my garage I was bore sighting to down the street, to a telephone pole with reflector on it that I used. I know it's 105 yards away from where I was in garage. When done I just scanned the area, lots of colorful plants with flowers in the yards. Clear as a bell & bright on down the street which runs into my driveway. Then there is a hill overlooking, up on top a tree @ I estimate at 1500 yards or more. There was some mirage because it was still warm out. I put the parallax on max and it cleared up a little bit & focus got way better. But yeah real clear for what I got if for, short to medium ranges. I give it a <thumbsup>

Mine is a mid carbine, but it's the only AR anything I have ever shot, besides a 450 Bushmaster. But with the Slash's Car 10-XH it is very smooth and comfortable shooting off hand. But with no comp on the end and shooting prone or on the bench with the bipod the muzzle jumps more than I like. Oh but I shot an SR25 from the bench and bipod. That one is HEAVY with a 24" bull barrel no threads, doesn't jump as much if I remember right.

And another thing, if you do build there are few different ways to go. One way is do a build based on the Armalite AR-10 rifle. The other way is based on the DPMS type LR-308. There are some key parts like bolt carrier that can't be used both ways but you will learn all about that here so no worry.

If you build it yourself yes you are assembling yourself, and that essentially is what it is, assembling. And it's not really hard. This approach affords you many options for a custom build to your liking. In fact you can build your lower yourself and if you like you can purchase an entire upper to mate up with the lower you build. Many people take this approach, but probably most of us here who built our own did build the upper themselves, I think anyway. If you do build your own there are a few special tool you would need to aquire. A torque wrench, a barrel nut wrench which fits onto torque wrench, an upper vise block, a lower vise block, a vise is necessary. we can help you all the way and inform you on the best places to get these things. JSE surplus is a good place to get the vise blocks and barrel nut wrench, but when you know which hand barrel nut you will end up using then we can let you know which barrel nut wrench you will need. It is not as hard as it may seem and it is fun. I hope you decide to build yourself. Guys here know the tricks too <thumbsup>
