Yeah I just couldn't stand to wait for SWFA to start shipping their new SS HD 1-6x24 scope so I picked up a U.S. Optics 1.5-6x28 FFP w/JNG MOA reticle. I got it from the snipershide.com "optics for sale" forum. I was very lucky to have been browsing that forum when I was, I got a killer deal on this optic. I got scope, Larue SPR-1.5 mount, USO flip up lens caps & sun shade all for just $800. Glass is perfect and body is in great shape, taken care of. Can you believe that? I can't!! Yeah $800 <lmao> OK but anyway the guy was pretty local to me and he seemed like a pretty decent guy <thumbsup> So I'm done, I have finally crowned her today with a very nice jewel ;D Now to go shoot..........

heh heh, if you spend every day over at snipershide optics for sale forum the next few years you might be able to. This one I got, I mean will get from dude on Monday, was a big surprise. Has all my requirements except not illuminated, but can be upgraded. If not for the Larue mount & other goodies he is letting go with it it wouldn't really have been the good deal it is, the scope is 3.5 years old. I would have been happy with the SWFA SS 1-6x24 for $800 with the coupon code. I jumped on this USO because I really don't want to wait maybe 2 months or more for the SWFA.

Vortex Razor vs Bushnell vs SWFA SS
NoFail replied to Gregrachelle's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
Oh boy I have a new brother with all the JP goodies in his upper ;) -
LOL but brother Livnoutdoors6.8 you were looking for more power in a scope. The other day I almost went and recommended to you on your thread about needing a scope, I almost recommended the SWFA 3-9x42. I hear great things about that one and it goes for $599 at SWFA. 3-9 should get you somewhere out there way beyond a 6x. That is what I would choose for you if I'm shopping for your Christmas present <thumbsup>

For several months I have been frequently checking over at snipershide.com in the optics for sale forum. Today it finally paid off. I got a used USO 1.5-6x28 FFP moa reticule with moa turrets. I'll get it on Monday. The guy is about 50 miles away from me. But here's the deal.... http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3297851#Post3297851 I'm pretty excited now. Now to cancel my order for the SWFA SS HD 1-6x, but I'll wait till I have this USO in my hands.

I considered doing that. But as much as I would be shooting her between now and July, if I have to wait that log, it would not be justified to go thru that trouble. On the upper receiver rail I mounted a mini red dot reflex sight using a offset mount. The scope will mount over it, with red dot sight under the scopes ocular area. So I'll use that for now and practice using it first. It will still be amusing <munch>

Ok I hung in there and just ordered from SWFA their new SS HD 1-6x24 FFP. Used new coupon code just activated by SWFA. Got $200 off the price of $999.95. Now the wait begins for shipping which could take as long as 2 months or more...... Edit: by the way coupon code for SWFA 1-6x is "5000" Coupon code for the SS HD 5-20x50 FFP non illuminated is 4000, $250 off of that one <thumbsup>

Oh well I spent $256 on mine already. We'll see how it does. Hmmm my trigger kit did come with a lighter hammer spring I could try later. I think it's a 3-3.5 lb spring for the lighter recoil AR15's. Thanks Matt
-
Bob I dunno what to say about your hand guard, except that sucks...... Now what about trigger? Well I dunno much about triggers, I installed mine no problem but I don't know how to tweek them or anything like that. I like my trigger but I wish it could be lighter. It's 4 lbs pull but it is not advised to be any lighter on a semi auto .308.

Oh so u did decide to get Slash's buffer and spring. I bet u notice some good things. And yeah 120 for that & you wonder why. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.... So does this mean u will not cut the barrel, I take it? Oh yeah I forgot to mention also I just added JP thermal dissipator to my barrel and still it feels good, dissipator thingy doesn't way much but still.... Edit: wanted to mention about my bro in laws SR25 with 24" bull barrel. Now that thing is fkg front heavy and I don't like it. Shoots like a sumbitch bu no good to me for hunting or such, it's a fkg anchor you know? I've been telling him when he sees how accurate mine is he will want to get a 16" barrel for it. I hope I'm not talking out my a$$ because I haven't shot it yet. Waiting for the Final Finish bullets I ordered last week for break in. I have loaded some cartridges using Nosler and Hornady bullets and cases though for after break in. For starters I'm going with 168 gn Hornady A Max bullets and 168 Nosler Balistic bullets. Using Hornady Match cases with the A Max bullets and Nosler brass with both A Max and the Nosler bullets and see what happens. I'm using IMR 4064 43.5 gns. To start.

Yeah Bob me think if you cut it you will find you won't notice any difference anyway. I agree with Edge. I would keep that hand guard you have and put the dough in a new stock instead. Of course I am going to recommend the UBR since I live it. Somebody posted somewhere about a crash test they did with numerous stocks, dropping them from a ladder at 6'. The UBR was the only one that survived and they dropped it numerous times. They tested some of the other Magpuls too including the PRS and the all broke, except for the UBR.

I'm <munch> too

So it's a flash suppressor I thought u meant sound suppressor.... I not thinking straight.... But still why is it all that heavy? I thought you got one of the Rainier Arms .308 16" barrels the heaviest of which is 2 lbs 7 oz. My 16" barrel is 2 lbs 7oz. I gotta tell you I am very happy with how light my rifle feels. It is fairly balanced too but I have the heavy UBR stock too. And I have a 14" hand guard but it is pretty dang light also. I just mounted a new Harris bipod and still it doesn't feel over weight up front at all!! How does yours feel without the hand guard on there? How does it feel

This, exactly what I imagined by the looks of those dents.

Hi guys I'm thinking I should run this by you all. I had settled on waiting for SWFA to start shipping their new SS HD 1-6x24 FFP tactical scope that I would use on my LR-308. It looks like that is still about an3 month wait from now. I really like the specs of this new SWFA scope and had my heart set on it. But I don't know I wanna wait that long. I have also considered the IOR 2-12x36 Spartan with elevation turret calibrated for 168 gn .308 and illuminated MP 8 Dot, but it's non FFP. Also the IOR 1.5-8x24 looks very nice but I'm not completely sold on it's CQC reticule. I like how the SS HD 1-6 reticule works with the FFP. Should I wait for SWFA or chose another like one of those IOR's? SWFA will be a steal at $800 with coupon code but long wait. The IOR's are $1300 and $1330 if purchased also from SWFA.

Bob, you have a suppressor?
-
Bob, isn't your barrel already 16"?
-
Yep, just got home, I put away that $1000 in the safe <thumbsup>

Right now I'm riding shotgun on the way home from Reno. We went to this awesome store called Sheels yesterday. I bought a Harris bipod $75, a little Sight Mark Mini red dot reflex sight $89 & a Burris P.E.P.R. Scope mount w/30mm rings and qd levers, $99. Today on way out we stopped at Cabella's and I bought a Blackhawk offset rail mount so I can mount the Sight Mark on the upper rail under scope, $39, and another 50 bag of Winchester brass in .308 Win., $20.

Hahahaha!!!! I came to Reno, nevada to shop at all of the big sporting goods stores here and on Friday bought well well over $400 of reloading components for .308 Winchester. Got Nosler 168 gn ballistic silvertip boolits, Sierra 168 gn match king boolits, Sierra 168 gn game king boolits, Hornady 168 gn V-Max boolits, Hornady cases, Nosler cases, 2000 Remington large rifle primers & 2 lbs. of IMR 4064. Turns out I got it all for free. Turns out all of that & this whole trip is free as last night I won a $1043.65 jackpot :) YEAH!!!!!!!
