Zumabob I'm sorry for screwing with your JDM build thread thread, bro...
-
Well thanks for forgoing the firing squad I like this place very much. Just so you know I have been emailing with Dave a lot lately, well that's my business but it's not like I am trying to dis Dave. I plan on getting a GTR-3H lower from Dave as soon as I can get away with it, which should be pretty soon it's a great price from Dave for that fine Mega product. Well I didn't mean to start any poop. I like to share opportunities with like minded people. And the JDM forum is kind of obscure so I thought no harm, thought wrong I guess. Ok water under the bridge.

Yes he is but........ I thought I lived in America <dontknow>

Oh yeah, good point. Well you just have to put foot down. "Woman, were going to the gun show"..... :o Yeah your screwed!!
-
OMG BOB that's really funny!!! Today I went to a local gun shop to pick up some Slip 2000 lube. They had a LMT on the wall and I asked dude if i can see it. I fell in love with it. Was thinking i could have done this instead of my build for not much $$ difference. The LMT was .308 and had a $2890.00 tag on her and she was a 16". It was a quad rail, which I'm not stuck on having but she was an awesome machine indeed. She wasn't as heavy as I thought she would be either. My brother in law was with me, he pulled the BCG and thought it looked exactly like his SR25 BCG, yeah the finish of it and everything and I agreed too. But yeah she was a nice stick. Trigger was ok I guess, 2 stage...... Oh yeah your barrel. It's probably a matter of personal taste but I will tell you this, I'm doing 16" barrel and my hand guard is 14", I can't wait <thumbsup> I wish now I would have gotten the JP enterprises 15.5" tubular hand guard, seriously I love that look....

Is this a secret upper your wife doesn't know about about. Yeah i know what you mean though, this is her time. Oh Man, you have to sneak away for a little while, but how? I'm lucky, my wife's Bday is coming and she wants a 38 Special ;D YES I WANT THOSE PICTURES BOB!!! <thumbsup>

:o So this is what post 50 is going to be like ???

But at least JP just shipped out my Barrel & Bolt today <lmao> UPS email confirmation delivery date Friday 3/9/2012 :)
-
ok thank you. I went to youtube by now and yeah found stuff there but really nothing that matched up with my type of nut. I don't have the holes but the notches around nut to engage wrench with. I guess it's the same idea though. Only I have to line up a "notch" with gas tube hole, yeah?
-
See this is what I'm talking about because now this confuses me, for now. The next hole? Must not be talking about the hole in the barrel nut extension for gas tube because there is only one hole there, or is that just in my case? Must be talking about the holes or spaces for wrench engagements? 338 yeah I'll go check out youtube that's one thing I forget to do. Thanks!! oh yeah, pics of my barrel nut and extension (extension, is that what you call it?)

Hi guys, okay so sooner or later when I get my uppers stuff finally shipped to me, my barrel can be secured to the upper receiver, this much I know :o Yeah, now I went ahead with a lot of things without seeking so much advise from y'all, for one thing I think I ordered most of my parts before I even found this particular site. So before I prepare to do what I think should be the most important step in the build I guess I might as well pop this question. Well first let me state that I have never done this before. I have read as much as I can find about it, I understand what is involved and I think that it at least seems to me to be not so complicated, I mean really. I have not yet ordered the DPMS barrel nut wrench which is required in my case, nor the DPMS 308 Panther Receiver Claw and I have my very good torque wrench anyway to do this procedure. So the question is, before I make that tools order from JSE Surplus, should I do it myself? I feel confident and have this kind of aptitude anyway, I mean I am a long time robotics technician by trade I install them and troubleshoot and all that stuff, today I just tuned up my pick up and she runs awesome again & I have always usually had a sports car I work on like my 72 240Z all tricked out that I have right now ;D, you know? So I get it. I'm not worried about this but, seriously now, this is a very important process coming up so I wonder if there is something, anything I am amiss. I don't think there is but heck I never did it before and it IS a big deal, that's all. Any voodoo or anything that I should know about?
-
Bob, my brother you are well ahead of me now it seems. I still have no upper receiver or bolt & barrel. All on back order still. hopefully just a few more weeks out <dontknow> In any case I'm looking forward to your finale & range reports, AND PICS I love the pics of everyone's fine rifles please!!! <thumbsup>
-
Ohhhhhhhh!!!! ;D WOW i see the light now, awesome brother!! Hey that guy better get her one if he knows what's good for him. So where abouts is your gas block adjusted now? Yours probably acts different though because you are 6.5 Creedmore?
-
Oh okay <thumbsup> yeah that's right you were still in break in too, that matters much!!! I think I am going to go get Slip 2000 for my lube. lots of guys give it high praise. I like the idea of using a synthetic, after all, petroleum breaks down especially under the stress of high temps. Some guys are using mobil 1 or royal purple. I might not have ever thought of that if I hadn't read it here 1st. But yeah, why not? Andreas you are starting to make me feel better now <thumbsup>
-
Take these suggestions to the next local gun show and see what you can get there <thumbsup>
-
Andreas yes i just found it, it was on my own build thread, LOL!!! You said, "and man that was filthy after 60 rounds on the weekend. I seriously want to get an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning these parts well between firings. I also started to notice that it wasn't cycling completely every time after about 40 rounds, more gas didn't really help. It was pretty wide open already. I think my Tubb flat wire spring may have more compression force than the usual springs (But with that Slipstream grease worked in it is pretty quiet and I like that)." Now your saying the bolt wasn't rotating all the way, on the way back to battery you mean? Eh, or the other way during extraction, but it seems like you meant back to battery....
-
Twisted, Hi and welcome!! Just a heads up if you haven't yet ordered a BCG yet get on it now. They seem to disappear so fast these days, really!!
-
Hi Andreas, So did you once say that after like 40 rounds you started having extract or mag swipe problems because of fouling, and you think it is because of the LMOS Bolt Carrier being lighter? I remember that and keep thinking it came from you. Anyway you are using the Tubbs flat wire spring. I dunno maybe someone can chime in here because I don't really know any better yet. I'm waiting to see what happens because, as you know already, I went the JP LMOS route. I think it's because of what I read from you before (a few weeks ago?) that I began to worry. But I went different than you with the Slash's CAR-10 buffer. I'm worried that my system won't extract &/or swipe next round from mag reliably. I wasn't thinking I will have to worry about the bolt going back to battery though, unless of course there is a extract or swipe problem. Andreas can you summarize again exactly what is going on in your case?
-
My friends at JD Machine!!!! Very nice slick side they do have. Can't wait till they send me mine ;) Hmm but now that I think about it it still has dust cover so maybe not a good candidate <dontknow>
-
Yeah, pricey but all of these aluminum designs seem to be. I got mine at gun show in S.F., dude sold it to me there for 200 (regular 219 for 14") cash I guess since I bought upper and lower at same time. NoFail still waits for his upper to show up :o Also I was saying to JD guy at show that this is really nice stuff but I'm stuck on mega MATEN & that's what I am going to do. Dude said this receiver set $550 for you today. In retrospect I should have went with MATEN for 592 at Rainier. Because Mega gives you dust cover, charge handle, pins etc., and then I found out later about Bransen group buys and that is even a way better deal. Hindsight = 20/20..... I'm addicted now so next build will be Mega small frame set, maybe from Dave, to build around 300 BLK. Yes what JDM brings to display is very convincing, and light!!
-
Wow boolit button B.S. sorta takes away from having my beloved Phase 5 EBR..... ya' know? Still can't do a nice and smooth/fast reload transition.

Ding Dang, what a pain is arse!!!

My brother unforgiven, yes if you come to Kalifornistan, it didn't matter if you reside out of this state. You have to install the stupid bullet button before you travel here with your hardware. California is wonderful, but Kalifornistan SUX the big meaty one!!! Edit: oh but wait, not sure about that collapsable stock thing!! edgecrusher???
