A couple of questions, for the experts here. AR-10TBNF...20 inch stainless heavy barrel 1-10 twist. New, never screwed around with or hacked upon, two stage nat'l match trigger. With Federal GMM 168grn or 175 SMK ammo, (or the equivalent) what can a guy expect for maximum repeatable effective range by an experienced shooter with 54 year old eyes...shooting bench rest with a bipod? AND Said person tends to like a little more magnification, wants a MIL/MIL scope with iluminated Mil type reticle AND If said person was looking to spend around $700 on glass and was willing to spend $200ish on a mount, what scope would you look for? This is the mount I am focused on...at the moment.. http://shop.aadmount.com/AADMOUNT-30mm-AADMOUNT30GII.htm My partner in this rifle is my son. He is 28. He has had laser surgery on his eyes and has beyond perfect vision...how badly is he going to whoop my behind when we are comparing targets...I already know I shouldn't bet him beers after our range day is done and we are home picking on each other, but will I have to cheat to avoid being embarrassed? :) <laughs> I look forward to, and thank you for your opinions.

Which/best Flip up sights???? HELP
SPBCTS replied to SGT45's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Sarge could you post the part numbers of the sights you bought..and maybe a pic or two of them mounted up...I need to do the same thing on my 10-BTNF -
The part that bothers me about it is that there are so dang many Americans who are just is ignorant as the politicos who are fooling them.

Compromise has a place in partisan politics. The problem arises when one party has the ability to define it...what it is, what it means....via a media who has lost it's impartiality...or even it's willingness to report both sides. That party then has control. Compromise is the art of working together without abandoning your principles and core values. The democrat party has moved so far to the left and taken the media with them that now, what we would call "the center" has been moved to the left. My Father passed in '83. He was a democrat in the proud sense of the word, but in 1980 he reluctantly switched parties and for the first time in his life registered as a Republican...1980 was the first national election I was old enough to vote in. I registered republican because it was the closest thing to Conservative" I could find. I won't forget what Dad said. "Son...you've watched and listened to me for your entire 18 years. I have not changed...my party has. My values, my core principles they are the same....but the party has left me...it is going down a course I can't abide with". He voted for Reagan.

Can you imagine what the MinuteMen would think? I wonder...

Yes, that could be... <lmao> But I gotta stay focused. :( My wife's P239 will be in next Friday, and I have got to stay focused on getting glass for our AR-10...but after my wallet recovers from that...well..ya never know!

Sheriffs Refusing To Enforce Unconstitutional Gun Laws Snowballs
SPBCTS replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
I have heard a rumor, but can't substantiate any of it, that 3 duly elected Sheriff's in a state back east have been notified by someone in the state .gov that they no longer have peace officer powers...I can't put anything else together on it but wonder...WTH? -
Well he had vision, that is for sure. Although my Father was a believer in that party, but he saw it leave him behind. He was a Union Machinist, born in 1927, died in 1983. "Son, the working man is the heart of this country, the soul that makes it good." After he saw what Carter did, and what was happening to his party, the last election he voted in he voted for Ronald Reagan. His last vote, my first... He would not believe how far we have fallen...

Holder Begs for Fast and Furious Docs Not to be Released
SPBCTS replied to Pappy1600's topic in Club House
There needs to be someone playing hardball with this. I'd like to see an effort put forth to demand the House defund Holder and his dept. until they turn the info loose. They are in violation of the House subpoena a House committee too. The only hammer we have is the House, and we need to demand that they start swinging it. -
That really looks like a nice deal...I think once the word gets out they'll have trouble keeping them in stock...a sweet alternative.

Now my suggestion makes even more sense. The Boycott group gets together, rents a big venue, puts on said show. -Media requesting credentials to enter will fill out a duplicate of the background check form a citizen wishing to buy a firearm would. These forms will be retained by the organizers of the show. Any biased media reporting...this information will allow the organizers to respond directly to the "reporter" by picketing his house. -At the door to the show will be a donation station, the NRA and the best charity available for getting cash to the victims of Sandy Hook will be stationed, together, collecting donations.

Yeah we are past the point of people "stocking up" there is some serious profiteering going on. I have no problem with guys making a buck...but when it gets insane...

Jessie is a complete package. Brains, beauty, and a smile that melts hearts. Her ex is a fool, and her new guy one lucky dude.

The insanity is just amazing. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we are picking up another Sig, a P239 in .40. For years I've been dealing with a retired cop who has an FFL and runs a small shop out of his home, it used to be a very small corner of his garage, enough room for a desk to do the paperwork and a small showcase. I stopped by because I know him as a friend, like to B.S. with him, and measure the "vibe" in the local community. I also had him order in a couple more mags for the 239. I was amazed at the people coming in that are just now, and I mean this week, thinking they may need to purchase a firearm. My pal is wore out. People are driving him nuts, and he is about ready to shut it down as far as the general public is concerned. In the 35-45 minutes I was there the crap I heard come out of peoples mouths confirmed what I learned while working is still true...the parable of the sheepdogs, wolves, and sheep is alive and well.

I sent $25 to the NRA ILA today. I know it isn't much, but it is what we had after the bills were paid and the groceries bought this month. I told my wife we can't buy much of the extras on our list with $25 anyway, and the NRA is gonna need it.

There is very little logic going on with this stuff...but that is SOP for this battle OP plan.

China: Our Anti-satellite Weaponry Is a ‘Trump Card’ Against the U.S.
SPBCTS replied to imschur's topic in Club House
In another lifetime, before I found there wasn't any work in the field, I was knee deep in a Forest Technology AS program. One of the classes was Public Land Survey, and we did it with the Silva Ranger...I still have mine. IT can be done if you know your pace...we did it all summer. Ranger and a topo map..and I still have both...:D And my textbook... -
Time for impeachment proceedings against the the lot. "representative gov't." isn't dead...yet.
