This state has minimum requirements for quals, it was 4x per year, if memory serves. Our logic was that reading the tea leaves of all officer involved shootings that led to civil suits('bout95%) the more quals on record the quicker that piece of the puzzle goes away. I've never thought of your scenario on the manufactures, but I do believe they are gonna go after the ammo at some point. I just hope things calm down long enough for me to get into reloading and stock up on supplies. I may be too late, only time will tell.

Boy that sucks. This is the wrong time to have to be spending $ on trucks...but you ain't gonna fix this one cheap.

There was information floating around last week that Walmart's sporting goods managers were no longer able to order ammo through their supply system. Schumer is as dangerous as they come.

What a class act. <thumbsup>

This doesn't surprise me. I don't belong to any of the cop only forums, guess I should. I know that when our rangemaster team put in a range day plan along with the number of rounds each sworn deputy/sgt./Lt./Capt. would be required to fire x the 110ish people on in the office, the bean counting piss ant of a admin. Sgt. would go nuts, then I would have to go around him and get it done, leaving him to hoard his flashlight batteries and dictaphone tapes...:D There is a major ammo reloader in my area who sells mainly at gun shows. Our Office bought his stuff for general training and our duty ammo from him.I know his family and they are telling me that the problem is the primary component suppliers. Primers, etc. The owner of this place has long standing relationships with some of those suppliers, and they have product..and plenty of it. What they are doing is sitting on it. Waiting for the price to go up more. If you think about it you know that greed is going to come in to play at some point here. It always does.

I think it is a great idea. Any American who is desirous of carrying a CCW should avail themselves of the opportunity, as long as they are not a felon or otherwise disqualified. I am proud of the LGS for putting it's core values out there for all to see. In times like these, doing the right thing is often difficult and unpopular, but that doesn't change the fact that the right thing to do is always the right thing to do.

I have one family member who is still active military. He spent several years at the extreme pointy end of the spear, and became if not the best, one of the handful of the very best there is at what he does. He is leaving the service next spring, but I won't be more specific about him...Anyway some point in the past few years he was invited to an event to compare skills with others who serve in the same field from other branches of the services and from all over the world. First prize was the rifle in the link below. http://pgwdti.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4&Itemid=6 He brought the rifle home with him and I was honored to be allowed to shoot it. I gotta say that it spoiled me forever, every bolt action rifle I ever shoulder will be compared to that weapon. It is unreal. I fired it out to 300 yards, and those three were bull, they could have been covered with a half dollar. His groups, naturally, are even better. Holes that touch each other. Always. For a few days I was so in love with that rifle I was scheming to try and figure out what I could sell to buy one. My wife conducted an intervention, LOL. But I still dream about it now and then.. :)

Very interested in this stuff but I will have to wait til I go to town and watch it there on my phone. One of the downsides of living in the sticks is the internet blows. We have satellite, which is light years better than dial up, but they throttle you back for watching too much video. I was talking to a phone co. lineman the other day and asked him when DSL was coming my way. He just chuckled. "Not soon. They are not in a spending mood these days and that whole stretch of line would have to be replaced... ::)

Yup, I figured. I sent some ideas to admin in a pm, nothing brilliant or earth shattering, but they might have an impact on issues like this. -

Yes, that is the rifle. My son and I are tickled to death. He is 28, our first father son project in many years...the rifle is "his" as far as the record goes, it is in his home and under his control. I paid for half of it, but have no room in my safe, LOL. We didn't pay anywhere near that for it. It was on sale at the time and we saved several hundred dollars. I found that ammo a few ago and posted it in the deal section, hadn't seen this post yet. Sorry....i did order 4 boxes of it. T <thumbsup> -

Power and hornet I didn't express confidence, if the unwritten communication in that post expressed it I didn't intend it to. I am a student of history and am very much aware of the long view, and the historical "life span and life cycle" of a republic. I did express hope. I have asked around and have heard from friends that their past few weeks have gone like mine, which has given me a glimmer of hope. My sons give me hope, my nephew gives me hope. If I am a dying breed, they are also members of the endangered species. Because they have been taught well. I posted up here to extend the look around into cyberspace. I know first hand what things look like when they get ugly. Real ugly. those life experiences have driven me to make the choices I have. You are right, Powerman, the public has been exchanging liberty for goodies from the .gov since the first part of the 20th century, when the economy was begining to throw off enough money for taxation to buy said goodies. As with all experiments in socialism found in history, we are proving that it only works until the .gov runs out of other peoples money. I believe we can reset without a CME or other extinction level event, but it sure as heck won't be a walk in the park. We are, as hornet said, living in very scary days indeed. For the moment, I will hold on to said glimmer of hope. I am a grandfather, I see it in the eyes of a beautiful little girl every morning when she crawls up in my lap and says, "Poppa, can we watch Bugs bunny?" -

I've looked at their 4x14 FFP for my -10, but just don't know enough about it. I know what to expect from other scopes in that price range, and don't think I'd be happy with them even as a temporary measure. I wish I know more...

We have a pretty good toilet paper fort. :D We've spent the last year helping our younger son get full custody of his little girl, our granddaughter. It was not cheap, but I would have sold everything I own for that child, to see to it she was raised in a house that is safe, and full of love...anyway... Really, truly, I need a scope for the AR-10 and ammo for it. I won't buy the glass til I have the ammo, it is sorta pointless as mine is a -10BTNF, no irons. I am going to have to wait until I can find some decent quality 168 grn BTHP ammo for a reasonable price. I am hoping the tax return will be able to fund the glass. If I fell into a decent deal on some ammo I'd find a way to make it happen. We will get there... <thumbsup> -
I think you made the right move. Many things sold today can be replaced easily down the road...but there is a huge uncertainty about whether you'll be able to replace that, and if so what the $ would be. Keeping it is a good move.

Good people, not sheeple. The kind that are 100% American, but are simply working too hard to have been able to pay attention to the news, and most have long since been disillusioned by the media so they just get up in the morning drink their coffee and go to work. They've been completely absorbed by the work involved in keeping financially afloat, or trying to help their families stay afloat. They were certain that America would wake up and that the 2012 election would prove that Americans and America were just fine, and a course correction would begin. They educate themselves at election time, and most, if not all, have never missed an election since they became of age to vote. They thought that this was an aberration, a hiccup, a brief excursion into the malaise of socialism in the light, and that America would now smell the stink... and sweep it out the door. When it didn't happen, their concern level went way, way up. They started to look around and listen to the propaganda the media was putting out, and the light went on. Many began buying things they'd put off, and the gun buying panic was to follow. It kicked into a higher gear after the tragedy in Connecticut. And my phone started ringing...and it hasn't stopped. I've never made a secret of my beliefs, and I have lived in this community for over 30 years, serving as a peace officer. There are only 100,000 ish folks in the entire county, and I know a lot of them. I keep a strong sense of "OPSEC", but my friends and family know I believe in the Constitution, and that I took my oath as a peace officer very, very seriously.... And the phone has been ringing off the hook. Most people just want to know what is going on. Many people want advice on the purchase of a gun. Some want me to come over and talk to their families. There is one thing for certain, theses people are awake now. I am certain that at least 25 new NRA members can be directly attributed to me, LOL. Here is the reason I am sharing all of this. If, by some chance, we dodge this Socialist Fastball that has been thrown directly at the heart of America, perhaps...just perhaps...between you guys, and me, and the other people like us, the sleeping giant is stirring. I sure as hell hope so. Anybody else sensing this, or am I hoping against hope?

Tough call. I have a boat I've been working on for some time, want very badly to finish it as it is close and everything else is waiting for the money tree. It is a restoration on a jet boat that has been in the family for many years. I had to do some serious soul searching when things got silly, and we put the boat in the slow lane to get the AR-10 while the getting was good. I know that the boat parts I need will always be available, but with the "situation" we are in, I couldn't say the same thing about the rifle...so, we went to the rifle. Sounds like you are at a similar decision point.

I am a car guy myself, I live and breathe them, have since I was pushing my Tonka Trucks around 50 years ago. The timing just sucks. If the car you are after is so special that it could change your life due to it's value in the collector world, or because you have plans to mod it it needs to come from pre-federal safety standards and if you can accomplish what you want it will represent a technological leap so large it could change your world, then maybe. A 1 of three Ferrari? Yes. 71 Triumph TR-6 you've dreamed of since your college days? No. Barn find original Shelby Cobra, one of the lost snakes, yes. A cherry all-steel deuce 3-window body on a original chassis with an unfired ARDUN overhead conversion built by Zora himself, yes. but honestly you haven't given us enough to work with.

Bank of America Freezes Gun Manufacturer's Account
SPBCTS replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
We dumped them 20+ years ago. My wife worked for them for 10 years. She never called in sick one single day, never was late, was promoted and was worked the "merchant window", etc. etc. Then one day my Dad died, and I needed her. She went to the manager told them her FIL had passed, and she needed a week off to help me out. They refused. "Not a immediate family member" She came home, I was crying, she was crying, and she told me what had happened. She thought about it overnight, and went in the next morning and gave her notice. They told her if she walked without the formal 2 week notice they'ed hold her paycheck for 30 days. We couldn't afford that. So my wife worked through the time we dealt with my father's funeral, etc. We live in a small town, it was much smaller back then. Word spread like wildfire and on her last day at BofA she spent the better part of the day closing accounts for businesses who were incensed with that had happened. By her count BofA lost 25 business accounts that day. The Mgr. was freaking out. I went in to escort her out that Friday, he starte to try to talk to me in the parking lot and I cut him off, and told him to go away, quickly, before I lost control. He did. One of the accounts she closed turned out to be her future boss, who hired her on the spot. So...BofA can kiss my butt on a bright sunny day. I wouldn't do business with them if they were the last financial institution on the planet. -

I understand completely. I sure as heck don't like it, but I understand it. Pure business decision that cannot be argued with.
