  1. I apologize for the crappy pics... my regular camera decided to take a dump too. [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0047_zps5bddfe58.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0046_zps86c30516.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0044_zps0fff44b7.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0040_zps7d830996.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0039_zpsfaf171b3.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0029_zps54a695d9.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0028_zpsd4fe3cb3.jpg [img width=810 height=456]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMAG0027_zpsbcad4bca.jpg
  2. I thought the Armalite H3 is the AR-10 buffer. It's an Armalite H3 buffer for a AR-10
  3. I'll get pics when I get home. Fulton heavy barrel with dpms low profile rail gas block. Rifle length gas system. There is some black carbon/oil coming out a little bit in front of the block on the SS barrel. . The gas tube coming out of the gas block seems to have some residue on it. I did not notice any shooting, but it was real windy. Roads
  4. Thanks. I have no AR experience so that hurts. I have some gas coming out of the block in front and at the tube, but I don't know if it is normal. I have one piece rings so that isn't it. I will have to take a better look when I get home. The gas block was real tight going on and it is straight. I was shooting American Eagle 150 ammo.
  5. Brand new range opened up... totally awesome, largest in Colorado. Completely up tight and out of sight. In the 50s with light wind... well that turned into stiff wind... 20-25mph. My rifle was all lubed up for it's break in. I had not had a chance to put a rod down it and wanted to before shooting... Took out the BCG and it promptly got coated with sand. ERRRR. Got it cleaned up. So it got progressively worse. Put about 60 rounds down range. Would not cycle far enough to catch the bolt catch, sort of pick up a shell, sort of not. I used a steel mag, but then switched to a Pmag at the first sign of trouble. Both brand new. I could cycle it and it felt smooth and free, but it was pretty frustrating by the end of the day and the wind really sucked. My oly goal was to get my rifle broke in, so mission accomplished. I'm going to strip it down and get it all cleaned up. I do not know if sand had anything to do with it. I have a 7 5/8 tube. with a Armalite spring, and Armalite H3 buffer. What is my next move?
  6. You are over reacting. Righty tighty, lefty loosy. You just need to stick with DPMS pattern. Any gunsmith can do it, or you can just buy a wrench and vise block and do it your self.
  7. Anyone? Does anyone know of Nikon Tactical. I borrowed a 4-16x50 from a friend just to check it out. It seems to me like perhaps this was the forerunner to these M-223/308... no it isn't the new "tacticals" that go for ~$1200
  8. Wow, thanks a bunch, but I think 8 will do me for now. I even want to get a few 10s. I'm on back order with Brownells...if it goes it goes, if not I'll live... I think... it's crazy right now... like what kind of a moron turns down normal price Pmags... but I got to put the crack pipe down at some point. I still need a scope. ;D My LGS was charging the $29.99 limit of 2. I was going to keep going back until they were gone.... but I figured I would leave some for other folks... problem is the other folks were probably throwing them straight on line for $60-$75 bucks. Who knows. ;D
  9. It was a bit of a challenge piecing together stuff. What was available whole I did not exactly want, or it was way too over priced. I mostly paid retail. A couple things were a bit higher, but not too bad after it was all said and done. There were no "sales" running. ;) DPMS lower, LPK, FF tube and gas block Fulton Armory upper, 20" SS heavy Criterion match barrel (1/12 was all they had left), and bolt carrier. JP bolt, Geissele SSA trigger, Hogue grip, Harris bipod and ASC-L stock. Since I'm a lefty I got a MechArmor charging handle and ambi safety. Not sure if I will get a Troy mag release or not. More than likely I will get a Nikon M-308 scope after my credit cards stop smoking. :) I managed to get 4 steel CMMG mags, and 4 Pmags too from LGS... they only doubled normal price... not too bad. ::) I got about 500 rounds of American Eagle. My LGS got some FP GM SMK 168 in.. but they wanted $39.99 a box. :o I got one box and 4 boxes of 175 that were still only priced at $29.99. :) Heading to our new range this Friday. Can't wait.
  10. One "theory" is they do not have a desire to pass a AWB... well they do if they could... but they do not want a repeat of the 94 AWB. In that it cost them the Hill in the midterms, and then it cost them the WH. They will posture all they can, then they will claim the obstructionist Republicans care more about the NRA that children and pick up the seats they need in the midterms to pass what they want in other areas. I think people generally understand the loonacy of a AWB. Meaning "assault rifles" are used in a 1% of crimes. Now banning semi-auto weapons of all kind might make some happy, most understand the evil black rifle isn't the problem, and banning them isn't going to solve anything.... mental health restrictions, mag capacities, and universal back ground check have a good chance of passing I think. The way the AWB is written now... please. No other law has ever called for property to be turned over to the government upon death... and registering all semi-auto weapons (nearly) as Class 3 is completely ridiculous. That's the part that won't pass. We'll see.
  11. Did you build your 5.56? Do you know how to take it all the way down? It's not much different. Just learning the compatibility of all the different brands is the challenging part. I didn't have a AR but got my .308 together. I had a gunsmith install the barrel in the upper. Not because I did not understand righty-tighty lefty-loosy, but just because I did not have the tools to do it easily. :) Usually I much prefer to buy tools over labor, but I really needed to cut some expenses so now is not the time. I will get the tools I need to do everything though eventually. Someone else will have some suggestions for what you asked for I'm sure. Very helpful bunch here.
  12. You will make a good profit since you just bought that from me for $125 ::)
  13. I'll take that link too if things are still good. So how is the M-308 holding up after so hands on out there. I am looking for my scope, can't spend a ton, and I keep coming back to the Nikon 308. When I look at other scopes and what they offer, seems this is a good deal with the mount. I'm not sure if the BDC reticle is worth the extra. Any thoughts? Anything else to consider with what this has to offer against something else?
  14. The sooner you want to put it together, the more you will pay. At this point you are left with waiting for makers, or buying from private sellers or Gun Broker at significant mark up. LPK seem plentiful by privates. Generally $120-150. Who knows about Armalite, and you can give up hope getting anything from DPMS this year. Through out this whole ordeal of looking for parts... DPMS is by far the more popular/plentiful. Lots of Armalite stuff too, just not as much. Barrels still seem to be around. You can always go custom, who knows what their back log is. I got my barrel from Fulton Armory. They only had 1 in 12s left which I am OK with. I liked Ranier, but I do not know their wait. BCG are the hardest to come by right now They are going for big money. I have seen DPMS and Armalite BCGs go for $700 on GB. NOBODY has bolts. A DPMS bolt went for $300 on GB, and JP bolt went for $400. I thought I was silly paying $300 for my JP, but it was the last piece I needed. Fulton still has carriers, but no bolts. I emailed a few times with JP... they are out, and their focus is on getting rifles out the door, but the contact was fairly confident retail parts would start to filter out. Do a back order and wait. "Fairly confident" was the best I got, everyone else just laughed. I just saw a SI BCG group buy on here just the other day, and they were talking about getting the order. I got through to Young Man. and they said they do not even know when they will get back to making .308s... right now they are just doing .223. The above suggestion on waiting for a barrel is a good one. I got my JP bolt which is DPMS, and then I was committed to finding a DPMS carrier and barrel. Of course when you need a particular thing.. seems all that is for sale is the other stuff. Seemed like Armalites were everywhere. ;D Pieces parts are just hit and miss everywhere. Nobody has everything... you have to get this here, that there... and shipping on every little thing. It can be pretty maddening. You have to be diligent... but my rifle is complete. Needed new gas rings which will be here Friday and I'm done. $5 for rings. $11 for shipping. :)
  15. So do you guys lock tight your buffer tubes? I have a castle nut, but was surprised there was not some sort of pin or something to lock it in place. Or is tightening the castle nut all that is needed? Oh... 6 pos stock and magpul. I mocked up my upper, was waiting to put it together. I went to put the gas block on but it is quite tight. I did nt expect it to be THAT tight. Just making sure thats right. It's a DPMS block and FA barrel. Are the any good write up for safety checks, lubing it up and taking it out for the first time? I could not find anything looking around. Break in stuff. I also do not know how to break in my Fulton Armory SS hvy Critrian barrel. FA web site has been down for a while.
  16. Thanks Bud. It's a Rock River Arms.
  17. Just to wrap this up. Seller agreed to take it back if I could not sell it (but he didn't have it right now). I got it sold for $125. The whole ordeal cost me $80 in gunsmith, rings, shipping and difference. Not the end of the world. Everyone lived. Thanks for all your help guys.
  18. That was a chore to watch. No way I coul dhave taken a gun being pointed at me for so long. Several times he seemed like he was posturing up for a shot. Obviously, we do not have audio. It was obvious she knew him, and it was obvious that she was trying to talk to him and she had to have had signals that he was not going to shoot. I mean come on, she is a police officer. Sure she had justification and opportunity, but obviously felt she did not have to kill him. She was right for 13 minutes. We just don't know, but definitely a bizzare stand off. But anyway, back to the topic.... "More Guns" is not the answer!!! ;)
  19. I paid $150 for it which is quite reasonable for what DPMS carriers are going for. I'm going to try to deal with the seller. If not, I have it posted on another board now... if all else fails I will sell it for something, but it is $90 at RRA. Obviously, I would like to limit my losses. :) Anyone interested, LMK.
  20. Do you need a RRA bolt carrier? ;D
  21. Yep... that's exactly what it is. Great... now I get to dispute it with the seller. Thanks a bunch.
  22. Oh ya... he used a tiny chisel... chipped them out piece by piece through the gas port. No damage to anything.
  23. <laughs> So what the heck do I have here? This si side by side with my Fulton chrome carrier. [img width=810 height=607]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMG_8216_zpsf50fe70f.jpg [img width=810 height=607]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMG_8217_zpsa8ef68a7.jpg Here is my DPMS firing pin. You can see the relation to where it goes in the carrier. But it is very far recessed into the carrier from where the hammer would hit the pin... a good inch. Even I thought that was odd when the pin was in because it was so far into the carrier. [img width=810 height=607]http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f217/free2801/IMG_8213_zpsc7ca704b.jpg What the heck do I have. The bore is a 308. But the gun smith had no idea what it went in.
  24. I'll find out tomorrow. He kept calling them seals. I kept asking him if he took care of my gas key/carrier key.. but he kept calling it a gas tube. He seemed like a good guy though.
