The first words out of Giron's mouth at her concession speech was, "I'm a little perplexed". Don't be, it's called having your ass handed to you, shown the door.... The voters sent her down the road mumbling to her self. Awesome! <thumbsup>

So the recall effort succeeded ans Morse and Giron are out on their cans. The Dems outspend the challengers about 7 to 1. Plenty of outside money. But no match to constituents tired of not being represented. The efforts started right after the gun control legislation passed. But not because it passed, but because the Senate President Morse changed the rules of who can come to the floor. Only those considered "experts" could testify. He considered some guy from Arizona who's wife was shot a "expert", yet hundreds of Colorado crime victims could not speak to their own legislature. Giron is from Pueblo which is sort of union/dem... but they are also against gun control... but she didn't care. She voted for it anyway. So they are gone. Now... perhaps the majority of Colorado Sheriffs that have filed suit against the laws and say they won't enforce them will make something happen!

That is one legitimate possibility. And another legitimate possibility is you just painted a big target on your self and you will be the first shot.... and you will never have a chance. Now sure... if EVERYONE open carried, and most citizens were openly armed, well that would be a different situation... but that is not the case anywhere in the country.
-
Same here in Colorado. I did open carry briefly for a reason and tried to make it as un-noticable as possible. Ya... creates more problems than it solves. It's very very rare to see anyone open carry here. Not saying someone should not have the right, just that it isn't that great in practice. There was a guy a while back that would open carry into City Council meetings. Never did anything wrong, just did it because he could... until they passed an ordinance that you can't carry at all in city buildings. It made some nervous... which I thought was the point. :))

Well a friend of mine has a Wheeler FAT wrench and levels. So I will be taking it down and getting back to the range to sight it in. I'm not far off, but I was not happy where it was. Set zero and locktite everything down.
-
I'm pretty surprised myself.
-
Yes. For a long time now. :))

Ya, I leveled the rail, and then leveled the scope, and went back and forth... but it is still off a hair. Used the turret on the Vortex, but that does not mean it's level. I tried using feeler guages, but could not get a good set to use with all the variables. I was reading the thread in the accurizing forum and saw ther Segway. The mount has a level. My experience is the same as others... underneath the scope, there is no light and it is pretty hard to see. If they allowed light from behind, but it can't be done the way the base is. But I can see it and when I check, it's usually off, so then I get it level, and the hairs are off. I just need to do it all over again.
-
Make sense. I thought I might take the scope off here and there, but didn't want the QD. I might take it all off again, clean it up, and do it over. I think my cross hairs are off too, no matter how good I thought I had it. Things being off level REALLY bother me.

That's interesting you say that. I never thought of it. But on my mount, there is oil that has seeped out, and I never knew locktite to do that. Like I said, I used blue on my rings, but not the mount. But there is that little layer of oil forming. I thought it odd when I saw it. And I think I tighten stuff plenty tight, and I do use the proper sequence. But I was looking into things and watching people use torque drivers. Ya, that would be much more appropriate.

Yes, I have a Aadmount. And yes I installed it correctly. And yes I had them as tight as possible... with the supplied wrench. But heck, all my turret screws were loose too. http://www.aadmount.com/30mm/index.html
-
So, I'm sort of getting tired of my scope mount coming loose. I used a freinds scope, and that was temporary so I didn't mind. I finally got my Aadmount base and Vortex scope. Trying to get it set up, it loosened up on me. After sighting in, it did. Finally used blue locktite on the scope rings. I was down for a few months and finally got to go to the range yesterday. I wanted to start working on my groups. I finally figure out my base came loose. I get that tightened and go back to zero on my scope and the turret is loose. Problem is, I don't exactly know where zero is. I mean I have it shimmed, but I don't know exactly how many clicks from bottom to zero. So I guess, and a few boxes of ammo later, I'm back to square one. Do you have to locktite every thing on the gun? I was reluctant to do that on things I might remove like base and turetts. Is this uncommon on 308?
-
Looking to get mine in the next month. Not sure if I will change the sights.
-
Wow... I went to one store today and their cases were full. They had black rifles on the wall. But that isn't the amazing part.... they let me buy a 50 rnd box of 7.62 surplus, AND TWO boxes of 45 ACP!!!! Holy Crap... it's like Christmas!
-
Uh, damn. Ya, that's good to know. 500 rounds sound great. With .308 over the weekend... not so much. Hopefully prices and availability calm down.
-
Yes please do give a report. I will not be able to get to one until later in the year.
-
Woo Hoo. They shipped. At least now I'm covered.

I would try to adjust it down to the widest range, even if it is a little over gassed for some. The only reason I am considering this is to build a light weight carbine upper to swap out. I have a 20" bull barrel now with rifle length system, bipod and scope. I was thinking of a light weight 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system just from a short light stand point. Throw on some BIUS and a red dot and use it for fun stuff instead of long range.
-
I bought an Addmount too. But it's the only one I know so can't really compare. It is a very well built mount. Looks beautiful. I really like that it is very smooth. I thought the addition of the level was a nice touch, but in real life, it is hard to see. There is just no light down there and no back light. I do use it, but in low light... probably not.
-
Sweet. Nice looking rifle.
-
Thanks. It's been an interesting two weeks. But it has been pushed out another two weeks... so than means at least one more trip to the range!!!! :auto:
-
Maybe I will go with mid length to split the difference. I was just thinking purely from a weight, short carbine stand point. But sure, there are other reason. Regardless, an adjustable seems like a must to tone it down a bit.
-
Cool, I'll have to get one then and check it out.
-
Thanks bud. I just have to go to Phoenix to have some guy dig around in my spinal cord. No big deal.
-
So, sort of forgot. Thanks guys For a carbine length system, what are the drawbacks? I would assume you would need an adjustable block at that point to turn it down a bit. My thinking is just to have less "retational mass". You know, CCQ. Bring it around easier. Just guessing really. I also saw that less weight up front hurts follow up... in genral. just thought. If it is no big deal, then no reason to go out of my way... but a carbine length hand guard most certainly weighs less than a rifle length one. Trying to make it light.
