Those new lowers by Cav are very nice and fairly reasonable for what is included. If I weren't commited to my MAG Tactical lower, I would consider buying one. Ha..might still buy one.

Best Muzzle Brake/Flash Hider combo
jrtMA replied to eagle10's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
Crap, Robo! Now its JP, Troy, and BC...ha. Very nice product but the 7.62 is so expensive it might be out for what I'd be even willing to spend on a brake. -
It's interesting if that's the process. If the market does stabilize and prices drop a bit I would get something like that. However, someone is buying Nemo out there and I would have to imagine that sales would have to plummet for prices to drop anywhere near 200.

I did notice that after rereading but rarely see finish work like that with annodizing...very nice. My taste is expensive enough without taking it up another level.

Best Muzzle Brake/Flash Hider combo
jrtMA replied to eagle10's topic in AR-10 General, Technical Discussion
My biggest problem with muzzle brake/flash hiders is which one to pick. There are literally 10 that I could quickly come up with that I would love to have. I'll probably be going with a JP or Troy for my next build. I have little practical experience with anything but a standard A2 though. I hope to give a positive review on the PWS FC30 soon. -
I've quickly learned that this company makes some beautiful ARs but how durable is their finish? Many of their products are too rich for my blood but they are nice to look at.
-
Very nice. Those were so popular when I lived in CO. Great look to it.
-
I'm getting better. I only looked at it.
-
That's right up my alley! I like it. The lowers are not that unreasonable for what they are. I was like a kid in a candy store on their site.

I would just like to see if anyone has had any experience with Double Diamond Law Enforcement Supply's lower receivers. I'm bored and scouting stuff that will help me spend my money down the road. I'd love to see opinions on their 9mm and/45ACP lowers. They reduced the mag well size with a billet lower process. It's pretty sharp looking. http://www.shop.doublediamondsupply.com/main.sc

Just keepin my eye's on stuff

Very good point. -
I just stumbled onto him, "Mike," through a local overpriced dumpy gun store that uses him for stuff they can't handle. He only goes by word-of-mouth and is a very pleasant guy to talk and deal with. He's a certified cerakote tech or whatever they call themselves. He doesn't do any crazy Red Creek Tactical design stuff but will do any solid and create colors to your liking. I was impressed. Mike also mentioned that he specializes in Remington 700s. He used a bunch of terms that were over my head but he sounded like he could make a bolt action shoot the wings off a fly at whatever distance. We'll talk, Edge. If you need work and are willing to ship or whatever I can PM you his info when you have the extra $$$ to play with. I can get you a discount too.

AR 15 stripped lowers in stock for $119 at PSA
jrtMA replied to EasyEJL's topic in General Discussion
That is great! Love it! The SP15 is the Seekins that I already bought from JoeBobs. The SP223 is the one with the larger mag well...at least I think that's the number. -

The Seekins Precision SP223 lower seems to be one of the hardest to come by right now. -
I've already passed on all colors except the black, my only choice. All black on this which is why this is so difficult to finish. No one has it. I, of course, am not helping because I won't overpay...I already did that on the receiver set. I was pleasantly surprised by the gunsmith I used today. He's not listed but is talented and only charged me 35 for pinning the brake. He also does cerakote finishing and does precision work on long range rifles....my new best friend.
-
Definately but no range until Magpul starts filling their backorders for the 308 PRS...I can't wait!
-
The MAG lower that I just bought will supposedly have a matching upper in production very soon. I'm eagerly awaiting it. Hopefully that extra weight loss won't compromise it though. If it's too light and there are issues than I'm out.
-
Very nice. Looks like an anorexic stealth bomber.

Some of the machines that produce many of these parts can cost millions. This is more for the larger parts. A company as big as Armalite might just be buying more to produce more. Just a complete shot in the dark guess...or they could just be trying to make more coin. Who can blame 'em. People will continue eating it all up regardless of whether there's a small bump in price. -
The Troy sights have finally arrived and I'm very impressed with the quality, just like the TRX rail. The tritium sights are most likely an unnecessary option but it wasn't that much more so why not. I will be taking my "baby" to the gunsmith tomorrow to pin the brake...thanks Massachusetts, you're the best (vomit).

I'm used to saturating ARs in CLP from military days but have never heard of such an oversaturation. This is not to say that I don't see your point. Especially considering I've never broken in a brand new AR like I'm about to. I have Frog Lube but would like to try your recommendation with the motor oil. Right now my AR-308 sounds so grainy and rough when I charge it back. So basically you're recommending completely soaking the BCG but how long should it be submerged for?
-
The tough part is seeing a company that makes a really nice lower and doesn't make a matching upper. Specifically, certain companies have such a different looking design, aesthetically, that a plain jane typical lower or upper just looks a bit off when paired up. Not to mention that there might be the slightest difference in colors. Mega Arms makes such a nice set but there are plenty of others too.

Well "Official Enabler" I would expect nothing less. You know the torture of it is that I signed up for so much stuff via email notification and some of it is starting to come in. It's a daily torture test I'm enduring now. Just got a notice for a mega ambi set...see what I mean? Anyone have $465? lol -

I won't leave now that I'm hooked on all this. I just have to becareful and temper my urge to buy all the stuff I want when I hear or see it here. I'll apply and pay for the MAG lower to be turned into an ultra light SBR next year. Something to look forward to. I have to switch gears to AR-15s for a while before my 308 puts me in the poor house....wow, that made no sense considering all this stuff is expensive. Oh and who ever posted that link on another thread for an AR in 300 win mag is evil! -
People are getting too nervous about impending legislation. I am in on the buying to a certain level but many of the companies that produce these receivers are cranking them out nearly around the clock. I would have to believe that supply will catch up to demand in this regard. Either that or every gun toting American will continue hording (nothing wrong with that) and have a safe full of ammo and lower receivers. Lets just hope that an AR ban amendment never comes to fuition. Although most of the legislation that is being pushed is bad enough in its own right.
