  1. Thanks, that's good info!
  2. Nice looking pistol! How long is the SB-15 brace?
  3. Scope mount!
  4. Good reads. Thx 98. This is from the 3rd article. Great quote! "An AR chambered in .308 or 6.8 is about the most perfectly designed deer harvester since the invention of the Timber Wolf"
  5. Yep thank you sir. <thumbsup> Good grief, I'd like to laugh but right now I'm cursing you for the images in my head.
  6. What's the law say about putting a foregrip on an ar pistol? I've heard it's a no go, but I 've also heard an angled foregrip is ok but not a vertical one?
  7. Mine is solid. Still solid actually since I ran it over with my truck last year. It shouldn't be loose.
  8. Thanks for that. I finally picked up a Hornady reloading manual, since I shoot a lot of Hornady, and also since my Dad just bought a 6.5 Creedmoore. I haven't found any R15 yet, but with IMR 4895 and 4064 the Hornady load data for 155 Amax has been good at 40.5gr. I ran some 168 FGMM since everyone seems to say they shoot the best in their guns, but mine puked them out all over the place. Mine shoots the 155s real well and lately I've been loading some 180grain Sierra Pro Hunters that shoot very good. I'm also dialing in some 165grain Interlocks. Maybe I should try something at 175, that's one I haven't tried yet.
  9. Good stuff thanks Robo Not saying The Colony is a good resource, just that it might provide a little perspective even if tv.
  10. Don't want to hijack the thread but I'm interested in more about this. Any other criteria for a good bug out spot in an urban/ suburban area.? If you are interested in this kind of thing there was an interesting show called The Colony, I watched it on Netflix, it's about a group of strangers dropped off in a suburban area and trying to find a location/ resources to survive. Pretty interesting to see how the people prioritized, and what they thought was important to survive. They actually created some pretty cool things, large water filter, a gasifier where they collected wood gas that ran a lawnmower which powered an alternator which charged batteries for powered tools, and they built a pretty cool scout vehicle.
  11. Yep, goalzero makes several options
  12. Kerosene lamps are great but why not get some solar powered path lights? You could pickup a couple dozen for under $30 and have enough for a couple in every room in the house if needed. Set them out the next day and your good to go.
  13. ^^^^^ let me know what you come up with for the trauma bag. I'm looking for something that can fit in a 6x6 molle bag.
  14. A lot of good advice there. Especially about practicing.
  15. I gotta be honest man. I now feel dumber for having read that.
  16. IMO water will be top priority so I carry one of these http://www.campingsurvival.com/lifestraw.html Also your initial bug out food will be important don't skimp on this, calorie is king, you are going to be burning up a lot of energy. A first aid kit tailored to your area and needs. For example if you have a lot of poison ivy or oak around you take something like this http://www.teclabsinc.com/products/poison-oak-ivy/tecnu-extreme A good knife, 550 paracord and tarp. Also don't rely on one source to make a fire. I can make a bow drill set and make fire with it, but so what that is last resort. I have fire steel , waterproof matches, and several lighters. I will also spread them around between pants, shirt, jacket and socks in case I loose my bag or jacket I'll still have a way to stay warm. Expand from there if you have room or want to carry more.
  17. What year is the model you are looking at ? If I remember they changed to a 20" barrel in 2012. Mine has an 18" barrel and came with a miculek brake on it.
  18. Haha, just found this...man I'm dumb. Might have been drinking and typing.
  19. It's a gen1 dems and I'm guessing this is what's happening. I'll take a look at the bcg tonight. I haven't had an issue spooking an animal with the noise from loading up a round yet. Like I said I was just curious about the FA since I never use it. Earlier in this post Magwa mentioned that he uses his FA while hunting and I know he shoots a DPMS as well.
  20. Cut outs like on an Ar 15 bolt? I thought it pushed on the shoulder of the bolt. This rifle was fully assembled when I purchased it so I assumed the FA would work with the bolt, but I will have to check tomorrow.
  21. So this topic got me curious since I've never used the FA on my gun. Like its been pointed out it isn't necessary to use it, and hence I haven't. However while hunting I'd like a quieter option. So I loaded a mag with a PMC 147grain fmj which have always cycled fine in my gun. I pulled the CH back and then slowly let it forward. The bolt was about a half inch from engaged and I pushed on the FA several times and couldn't get anything to happen. What am I missing?
  22. Pretty impressed. Got a call today from a gentleman at Mecharmor Defense to verify my order, asked what upper it was going in, and informed me that he would build it tomorrow and ship it out. I couldn't here his name because I was running a skid steer when I first answered. Can't wait to check it out.
  23. Thanks, and thanks for recommending that trigger.
