This is sounding like engraving a lower is a fairly easy standard thing. Is it really? I'd take mine in for a small engraving job, but I'm not sure where I'd go to ask for that.

Well like I said, we'd get a discount, the $600 would be for the collectors out there. Just imagine having a safe queen with the logo for this place... the envious stares at the shooting range "Dude, nobody has one of them anywhere!" And so on.

Good enough. If there's no fails from running as wet as you can manage, that's how wet to run during break-in. I even run air rifles wet. If oil comes out through and past the trigger inlet of the receiver, everything I've ever had gets along with that just fine. I know my DPMS settled down real nice once I started lubing like crazy -- like more than I'm used to. She leaks, but she runs like a Singer sewing machine.

So here I thought one .308 would be enough, and now you tempt me... You'll want some media behind this product release, which means a minimum price for a limited edition of lowers at somewhere around, say, $600 per. But of course we'd get a group buy discount, right?

Has any rifle ever failed due to excess lubrication?

Is the 'open carry' movement going too far?

I was not aware that there was a state where 65% of legal adults carried sidearms. Which state is this? -
Hm. When the Apocalypse comes, maybe the guys who have beer and toilet paper will rule.

But at the same time, be prepared for anything. Dang hard to do. Flame me, but as far as I know the only people who can successfully 'bug out' are Africans in Africa. The huts are mud. They have no tools. They might have some seeds for crops. Some sharpened sticks.

You can also go to a fabric store for the foam but all the women there will look at you kinda funny. It's almost as bad as shopping at Victoria's Secret.

If everyone did open carry, people would realize how few of us there really are. So with concealed, we could be present in any numbers, anywhere. Just a thought. -
And the guy who has been hoarding gold and ammunition, what does he carry? My guess is, he plans for a siege instead.

This setup is ripe for marketing, like getting 'em all to carry Glocks. -

I have to wonder if militias take part in civic parades. That would be a good environment for open carry, and come with a good rationale, and would send the right message, and be a lot more 'normalizing' than showing up at Target. -

Now it's Target... or 'Tar-jay', as some call the chain store. Here’s The Latest Major Chain To Tell Customers With Guns They Are No Longer Welcome - Western Journalism - July 2, 2014 Following the lead of several restaurant chains that have made similar pronouncements in recent months, retail giant Target recently informed shoppers that they are encouraged not to bring firearms into any of its nationwide locations anymore. In a blog post Wednesday, acting CEO John Mulligan said his decision on the “complex issue” of gun rights was made after careful consideration. “As you’ve likely seen in the media,” he wrote, “there has been a debate about whether guests in communities that permit ‘open carry’ should be allowed to bring firearms into Target stores.” While he contends the chain will continue to “follow local laws,” he seems to offer a contradictory statement in the following sentence. “But starting today,” he wrote, “we will also respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target – even in communities where it is permitted by law.” The text of Target's "open letter" can be found here. -
After I heard this was an issue, I tried to get the BCG and its bolt in my DPMS to stop before full battery. No matter how gentle and slow I was, it always went to full battery. Maybe I keep my rifle too clean, or maybe, it's a non-issue for civilians.

When two @$$|-|0!3s confront each other, the outcome usually isn't good.

'Zackly. I grease the lugs lightly, oil nearly everything otherwise. Still, there's gotta be a reason for keeping oil out of the chamber. That reason may explain the stuck brass, if there's lube in the chamber. Like maybe lube burns and after burning takes up more space. Chamber mops might be more important than advertised.

Look on the bright side. You have literally hours of shopping pleasure ahead of you, searching for the compensator you like the most. By the time you have five of them, you'll be able to settle on your favorite. If you want to go for the most recoil reduction possible from a compensator, I'd say it's the JP Recoil Eliminator. Bear in mind, it violates the 1" x 3" rule and therefore is not approved for nearly all competitions. All other compensators stand in its shadow, for that purpose, from what I've seen and experienced. Make sure you use hearing protection. A .308 is wicked enough, with a compensator the concussion is way more wicked.

Even for the wind, that's some dang fine shooting. -
No plans for the 4th, growing up, my family never did anything and especially not go to see the fireworks. My dad said it just sounded like Iwo Jima (WWII) on a slow day. And my mom survived fleeing ahead of the advancing Russian front through Prussia and East Germany (WWII), so she wasn't a big fan of fireworks, either.

Speaking of running wet, and brass sticking in the chamber, I've read in a couple places that there should never be any oil in the chamber -- that it should always be run dry. Any thoughts on that?

I don't want to start a flame war, far from it, but I wonder if ignoring the sign is better than boycotting the business -- something the business seems to be asking for, anyhow.

The stocks on a lot of .22 squirrel guns can be pretty 'assaultive'. Gunman Knocks Out Hotel Clerk During Robbery In Hershey - CBS Philly - June 29, 2014 http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/06/29/gunman-knocks-out-hotel-clerk-during-robbery-in-hershey/ Police are searching for a gunman who reportedly knocked out a central Pennsylvania hotel clerk with the butt end of an assault rifle during a robbery. Police say the suspect stole about $200 plus tickets to Hersheypark, a nearby amusement park, before fleeing. -
The other experts here could set standards for a 'range report' but for me, just thoughts and impressions on how it works for you would be enough.
