Fixed it, you can thank me later.

Good tunes all. But he was a total head.

As much as I shop online for goodies, I must say, I don't see lots of keymod stuff, and I gotta wonder if something like this will stop the standard from being widely adopted.

If you go to your local "home improvement" store, you will find an amazing collection of things you can spray out of an aerosol can. A fair number of those spray-on finishes will have various interesting surfaces, such as stippling, etc. You could even find that the final result is pretty good-looking. Rust-Oleum has a lot of stuff that I personally would consider if I was looking at your situation.

Wolfgang, Try pasting the text into NotePad or similar program -- and then copying from that program back into the .308AR reply block. I still think that there is so much formatting in the original MSWord file that the .308AR reply block simply throws up its hands. NotePad or a similar text editor should 'clean up' all the extra crapola and deliver pure words.

I kinda lost my sense of humor the other day, and so did about a dozen or so other grown-ups at the local preschool. I say, "grown-ups" because lots of the people who deliver the kids are grandparents, like me -- the kids' parents are either AWOL on parenthood, or, maybe, dead. Or in prison. Or busy smoking rope and perfecting their thousand-yard stare at pictures of Hendrix and Cobain. Anyhow, one of the child-delivery people showed up with the two kids he normally has, but one of the kids has a scaled-down Uzi replica and is having a great time going "pew pew" at everyone else. Everyone else is looking on, like, we don't want to be trapped in this building for a "security lock-down" and star in the evening news. The animosity was palpable. In the end, nothing happened, and all were glad to leave "the problem" in the hands of the teachers. Thankfully, there was no lockdown.

^^what he said. Even though 'black rifles' are first and foremost machines, there's beauty.

Are the main two elements from steel shelving, i.e., steel? You'll want some sort of coating.

Is that fully free-float? Looks like it might be resting on the gas block. Otherwise, it's got a unique appeal.

LOL For a complete list of all the things which are, or will be caused by global warming, check this out: http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/warmlist.htm 883 items, and it's not a complete list. For instance, it doesn't have the Democrats in the US House claiming that the climate could force women into prostitution: http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/house/296679-dems-warn-climate-change-could-drive-women-to-transactional-sex

When I first got my DPMS, it took a bit of a push to remove the retaining pin. 200 rounds later, it just falls out with gravity. But yeah, the receiver will keep it in place, no worries. Just make sure you're not standing over a sewer grate when you clean your rifle.

Comparing LR-308 Lowers
gnatshooter replied to MikedaddyH's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Not too long ago, I had a problem with making my iron sights work on my DPMS LR-308T and that was because the rail on the upper receiver was quite remarkably tall. I already had a DMPS lower, of course. Got a DMPS upper with a 'normal' rail height and everything fit together so well, it was like they were made at the same place. LOL and they were. I'm happy with the decision. -
In Europe, the "Left" is communism, and the "Right" is national socialism (neo-Nazi). Both are types of totalitarianism. Individual freedom is not really part of their politics, and that is part of why we fascinate them so much.

Need A Sling Point That clamps Onto The Buffer Tube?
gnatshooter replied to jtallen83's topic in Gear & Accessories
Hmmm, Merchant of Doubt... would you be making arrangements for a concealment holster for such pistols? ::) -
There is an old saying attributed to Robert Heinlein to the effect that "an armed society is a polite society". As far as I've seen in the news, people are not assaulting each other over the merchandise when the ammo truck brings the goodies to WalMart etc. Majorly sux that people double their money from the truck to the street. But given the scarce availability of ammo, price-jacking at WM might only buy a day's worth of Marlboro and Jack Daniel's. It would be a life-style.
-
Hm. Gotta wonder if there are gun people in other countries who will only buy US stuff on account of it's the best.
-
Hm. I'm thinking you should have gotten that Cooley brake I had. Still, it looks like this brake is legal for competition that sticks to the 1" x 3" rule.

It's interesting that stores are underselling the 'street' price. Maybe the thing is that stores sell bricks for ~$23 when they have it, whereas they're always available on the street -- at least here in Iowa -- for $55. But if you go Gunbot.net and look at cost per round for .22lr, you'll find some tremendous scalping is happening online. $23 per 500 rounds is 4.6 cents per round. Lots of online prices are triple that. The prices would go down if people refused to pay that much. But people are still buying at that rate.

Looks like a non-secure holster -- or not?
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in Concealed Carry
Actually, I started buying ammo with both hands right after Newtown, so my inventory is good. -
Pictures can't tell the whole story, but how comfortable is this rig?

The virtues of 'shooting straight' cannot be underestimated. If you follow the news, most rounds from handguns 'go astray'. This disappoints criminals all the time, and embarrasses law enforcement as well. Even so, lots of rounds from handguns hit their target. But if you follow the news, you've noticed that guns are not a reliable tool for killing people. At least, not in big cities, where emergency health care is not far away. If handguns are not reliable tools for killing, what's their value? Maybe their value is in persuading someone to stop what they are doing. That can be done with various calibers, with various results. I've done quite a few experiments with .22lr and have found that the round is far worse than stabbing someone. And, since .22lr is a cheap round, I do a lot more practice with it, making 'stray rounds' far less likely. There is also a tradeoff between how much of a weapon you carry, and how likely it is that you'll need to use it. A police officer will more likely need a big-bore pistol and will be more likely to put up with the weight all day (or all night) long. An LEO will be unlikely to carry a .50 all day long, even though everyone loves the largest caliber for any situation. Me? I'll be taking the kids (another post) to museums and nature parks and similar summertime things and events. If it becomes my responsibility to perforate the lungs of an @$$|-|0L# I think I can do that with a .22lr. Without hurting bystanders. I am confident that these remarks will draw a $|-|!+$+0r^^ of controversy, but it will be a long time before I don't need to learn anymore. -
Makes sense. Gotta wonder what flipped the switch on the Las Vegas "police ambush" shooters, and maybe what flipped for them was being kicked out of the Bundy Ranch. It will be interesting to see how the liberal/progressive press tries to spin this element -- if they even try.

You're exactly on point there. In the statist/collectivist/liberal/progressive hive mind, mental illness is caused by other people. These are parents, neighbors, teachers, Gun Rights Advocates... And the Government promises to control all of these, so that they will not cause Mental Illness in poor unfortunate victims. They oughta start teaching Victimology at universities. In the US alone, successful victims likely reap a couple Billion$ annually. And from the looks of things, victimhood is a growth industry. And victims vote for Democrats.

The ammo in question is also known as 7.62 NATO and .308 Win (Win being short for Winchester). There is some debate, though, on whether these are truly interchangeable rounds -- especially among older rifles. This is a great place to find expertise on that particular point.
