Looks better on your rifle than it did on mine. Sure would like a range report on how that brake works for you.

Looks like you got a big Cooley brake on that weapon. Or is it someone else's?

My dad hit the beach at Iwo Jima. He was not happy when the island was given back to Japan and they built a golf course there. Well okay, it was worse than "not happy".

Exactly. I've seen news articles about 12-gauge assault rifles and .22 caliber shotguns. Journalists are lazy people who work harder on 'spin' than on facts. We can probably be confident that "the teen" (which is another 'code-phrase') was not shot with an Airsoft quasi-weapon. Beyond that, who knows? We're prisoners of the media.

can't imagine a man doing that same thing twice.

Somebody should write an article like this, but comparing what stops a regular criminal, versus one crazed on PCP, angel dust, bath salts, meth, etc.

Probably finished the job in the Philippines like they finished the job in Iraq.

Looks like a non-secure holster -- or not?
gnatshooter replied to gnatshooter's topic in Concealed Carry
Turns out, the holster works as well as members here recommended. I carried all day long, cutting, pulling, loading and hauling brush. Tree branches. Five trailer loads. Even though the holster has no backstrap, the pistol stayed in place the whole time. What's more, the guy I was working with said, at the end of the day, he had no idea I was carrying. And he's gun-conscious. So thank you Bullard for making one truly excellent holster. Also I was wearing a sloppy t-shirt, which is now fashionable. Oh, and I should add, the holster is so comfortable that I forgot I was carrying whilst dragging tree branches and getting them on the trailer. Hmm... is that a bug, or a feature? Supposedly, a guy should always be aware of that shooting power on his hip. What it is for me, I don't notice carrying a pistol. I notice not carrying a pistol, like I notice not having house keys and a wallet. The feeling of something is missing. Don't know if that is good or bad, by common standards. -
Hmm. "Obviously, shot placement is the only realistic option for a law enforcement officer." "I have seen a .22 caliber bullet completely incapacitate someone and a .45 ACP fail to achieve that result." "The ultimate stopping power rests with your training with your weapon system."

Guess she musta just given birth to very hungry twins.

Do you have any advice on cleaning the barrel after using this?

I'm one of those seeking a soft-shooting .308, but not "the softest". I imagine it's possible to go to extremes, but I'm happy enough with Slash's heavy buffer. And some say it also improves function. You'll have to ask others about that though.

Hog farmers have a healthy respect for these murderous beasts. The videos make it look like pigs would rather attack a man than his dogs.

This level of preparedness suggests that scope failures are proportionately common. Are they?

Sounds like you might have had as much fun as with my son this latest Fathers Day. I wound up enjoying the DPMS LR-308T more than I had before, and he wound up thinking he wants that caliber in that format, and he was grinning big.

The razor-type thing would need a blade as long as the thickness of the foam. Not sure what thickness of the foam you're working with, but it's likely that a 'box-cutter' is not enough. Sure, it would do the job, but the job would look like you did it with a box-cutter. Any chance you could leave the foam 'as-is' and run that way?

Companies in a lot of industries, at least those with highly local labor markets, tend to know what's going on with each other. In many cases, this means that some employers are known 'in the industry' to let go the best employees due to nasty management. In a case like that, one employer's refusal to give a positive account of your abilities and performance will not hurt you, and may even work in your favor.

One thing I've noticed about sights on my DPMS LR-308T is that, with iron sights set 2.5" above the bore, cant has a tremendous effect on accuracy. I would imagine the same thing would happen with someone using a telescopic sight where the optical center is 3.5" above the bore. So, I would think that the ability to 'zero' the bipod to horizontal would be pretty critical. Are bipods generally built so that the shooter can easily orient the rifle to the horizon? From what I've seen, they generally are not. From what I've seen, only Elite Iron offers a bipod that easily deals with cant.

Hmm... it's starting to look like good things do happen to good people.

For a good reference on barrel harmonics and tuning, I've found a good source to be: http://www.geoffrey-kolbe.com/articles/rimfire_accuracy/tuning_a_barrel.htm

I've been to upholstery shops and what they recommend for consumers who want to upholster on their own is the 'turkey knife' which is electrically powered and uses two blades tight together that vibrate like what girls use when they're lonely. The upholsterers themselves use custom-made units consisting of an electric 'Skil' saw or 'jigsaw' that holds two hacksaw blades together, and the sucker vibrates -- okay, I don't need trouble from the moderators, but it's like that. The nice thing is, you can probably get that electric turkey cutter at thrift stores like Goodwill or St. Vincent DePaul, etc., for way, way cheap. You'll want something like that because foam on the retail market is not cheap, and the foam itself is not 'forgiving' of bad cutting. Basically, you have one chance to do the cutting right. P.S. What is a 'tomato knife'? Or is that some CIA thing?

At least he didn't post stuff about balut, we'd all have to bail into a bucket. But blood sausage is pretty good, my gramma used to make it from beef blood and diced bits of pork fat. The sausage casing is usually the bladder of a pig, which is pretty big when stuffed, and when the sausage is done, you cut off steak-sized slices and fry 'em up quick. It doesn't have much flavor by itself, so she added loads of black pepper. Another concoction that doesn't have much flavor is 'Hirn mit Ei' that they eat tons of in Austria. Basically it's chopped brains (from sheep, swine or cattle) mixed with scrambled eggs. With lots of brains, you don't get much of the flavor of eggs -- and, again, you gotta add plenty of salt and pepper. Pretty good stuff, though, and if you visit Austria, it's generally the cheapest thing on the menu. But balut, no way.

What's that green stuff on it? And is it any good? I've had blood sausage and it's not bad.
