  2. Got it. Thanks. Sorry about the miss-info. Glad I got my lowers already!
  3. FaRKle!, are you certain? When ever I've purchased a over the past few years lower, it had to be registered. Or, am I confusing the documentation the FFL takes as something else?
  4. Jonas, You have to register all semi-auto guns in California now, and have had to for some time. I think you are confusing the new legislation that will take effect Jan 1 that will add ALL long guns to that list, including bolt actions, shotguns, etc. The bills that proposed further restrictions to semi autos were vetoed by Gov. Brown last month. Of course, that doesn't mean that they won't try to pass those bills again, but you may not be quite as 'up against the clock' as you think. Better to stock up on bolt actions and shotguns now, and get a few lowers for future builds. DRD
  5. Excellent find! Is that a 0 or 20 MOA cant?
  6. Great, thanks!
  7. Thanks, I just did. A little pricey, but I found one for about $135. I heard BO are some of the best when it comes to rings, bases and bolt action hardware.
  8. No worries. Thanks all
  9. Perfect - this is what I was looking for: http://www.egwguns.com/steel-mounts/steel-hd-remington-700-short-action-picatinny-rail-scope-mount/ Thanks!
  10. I'm looking for suggestions for a steel (not aluminum) scope base for a Remington 700 short action (.308) I do not want any MOA elevation. Any suggestions (best quality for the price)? Thanks, DRD
  11. Do you mean Nemo?

  15. Seems like a viable option since they still seem to claim no appreciable change in shorter range groups. If you can shoot both near and far with a tight twist & heavy round, all out of a shorter barrel, then why not? The discussion below the article is quite interesting...kinda debunking half the research, though.
  16. Awesome. These guys all seem to agree: http://www.accuracy1stdg.com/content/docs/Binder7.pdf http://www.tacticaloperations.com/SWATbarrel/ http://sniperschool.com/sniper-rifles-2/ Makes me wonder if these combos are actually better for longer distances with .308: 22" 1:11 20" 1:10 18" 1:9 16" 1:8 I even saw this in 1:7 http://www.rrarms.com/remington-700sps-tactical-308-win-16-5-ghille-green.html DRD

  18. Does that upper mate well with a SI-Defense billet lower?
  19. Good to hear!
  20. 5 builds: 1 Lightweight AR15 - half complete 2 .22lr Rifle based on Savage Mk II 3 .308 Bolt Action 4 AK47 5 .308AR The 308AR will spend a lot of time living on a boat, miles offshore in the ocean, and be in coastal areas, in the rain, where wet, salt air winds, etc. I'm not in a rush to complete any of these builds. I'd rather take my time and spend once if possible. DRD
  21. LOL. Got it. Maybe if I ask Santa, he can make me one...
  22. Thanks guys. Excuse my ignorance, but what does "OOS" stand for? What do you mean by unobtainium? I find it hard to believe that any one manufacturer has discovered some "special metal or 'super' treatment that no-one else in the metallurgic or scientific has heard of. If they are so great, why isn't everyone else using them? I'll contact Branson, thanks. DRD
  23. Anyone know anything about or have any experience with these: http://www.shop.superiorbarrels.com/product.sc?productId=136&categoryId=15 http://www.shop.superiorbarrels.com/product.sc?productId=118&categoryId=15 Thanks, DRD
  24. thanks
  25. Thanks. Looked great until I saw the barrel was 416SS. I don't know why they nitride SS unless to increase barrel life, because it's been proven that ferric nitricarborizing / meloniting stainless steel actually decreases the corrosion resistance. Here are the Brownell's reviews: By Finding Nemo from Michigan PROS CONS Poor Construction BEST USES Comments about NEMO BR-UH93L1-34 20" NITRIDE HBAR 308 BARR: At first glance the barrel looked great, but the excitement was short lived: 1. Nitriding salts were leaching out and dried up in the chamber area from the barrel extension threads. This would suggest the barrel was nitrided with the extension already installed (gas port hole was also showing no bare metal). Do your research on this point and decide accordingly. 2. Gas port hole appeared to be mis-clocked from receiver alignment pin. After setting the barrel up on my surface plate and v-blocks, the height gage confirmed it was off by about half the diameter (rotated CCW). Returned to Brownells and am searching for an alternative. Yes / No - You may also flag this review 5/23/2013 1.0 Expected more By Defiant from Ca PROS CONS BEST USES Comments about NEMO BR-UH93L1-34 20" NITRIDE HBAR 308 BARR: Got the barrel and it looks nice and well made but thats where the good ends. I put it on a DPMS LR308 and it fit fine, the first few rounds fired normally and then I started having problems. It started ripping the rims off of casings and leaving them in the chamber. When it didnt leave the casing in the chamber it would still really mess up the rim of the case and make it unreloadable. Then it started the shortstroking. I noticed the gas block was twisted on the barrel so I figured the gas tube was dragging in the key, causing the shortstroke. I tried to take off the block to see what was happening and when I went to take the compensator off the whole barrel started unscrewing from the extension, which I would guess is the source of all the problems. Total round count around 50. I tried calling Nemo and got no answer so I left a message and no one returned my call. I called Brownells and they gave me the usual great service and help in returning it. WAS THIS A GIFT?: No BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend
