I pack a sig 1911 govt length myself. :-D I never understood the weight problem with an edc sidearm, but my 308 is a little different story! That being said, I am blessed to have had the opportunity to set up a light little rifle!

I got your pm, and I look forward to working with you!

Dang, sucks to see gii issues! My primers come out fine, and my cases look like an angel guided them onto a pillow in a nice stack at my 3:00. I believe I read an article about the company who makes dpms barrels being in Montana...

Hey guys, I have been gone for far too long. I am moving, and I have a lot of irons in the fire. Not to mention that I don't really have a computer to use... But once I get my computer, I will be on the forum every day, and soon I will bring my presence back here with some giveaways and information. Sorry for being gone!

I meant the 1/4" width, thanks! So many Khukuris made now are 3/16". Lol very awesome.
-
Crimson, I love that last Khukuri that you posted. What is the width on that thing?
-
The sr762 got me attracted to the Ar308 scene, but the GII grabbed and held me. Lol If anyone asks for advice on an awesome budget di ar, I point them to the gii That being said, lets see a direct comparison between the Ruger and the Sig!

It would be nice to bring it out this summer! Idk how realistic that is though... we will have to wait and see. :-)
-
Albright, so a little update. 98, your mk- ar is awesome, but we can see above, I was offered a deal on an adm mount that I couldn't pass up.... but it is 30mm as opposed to 1". So the mk-Ar wasn't an option. So, using the leupold military discount, I just picked up the Vx-R Patrol 1.25-4 Hey, buy once cry once right? This might be a cheap scope to some of the heavy hitters here, but it will be my first quality scope. Can't wait to post pics!

Abused is what I want to hear. It was my pleasure :-)

I have the fourth horse on my outer left forarm, and on the inside of my left forarm I have psalm 144:1 in pashtu:-)

My wife painted this by my request, and it is currently for sale, but she also does custom stuff. I figured everyone can appreciate some patriot art around the house, and I amthinking of having her paint the 308ar logo, and maybe my personal 308ar as well. :-) Thanks for looking! (Ps) its a win win! Just tell your wife that this time you spent money on the 308ar forum and came home with some home decoration! Lol

Great write up! And you know what!? Your loop idea is an excellent one! Thank you! I am sorry for the ugliness. It was a prototype... and it got what I had at the time. Which was ugly. But you dont have to give it away, you won it, you like it, and i am happy! You are correct also about the webbing. It is thin, and the edge can be rough. I hope to always have padding where I want it, but without padding, I definitely agree, I wouldn't want it rubbing on my neck. It does have some benefits though. This webbing is thinner and less soft, but it is much stronger for its weight than others. Its a bit of give and take. I may look in to other slings, bit so far, I am pretty happy with this stuff, although I think that it takes some getting used to. I crappy appreciate your review. Your sling is a bit different than my current model now, but it is very close. I hope that it serves a for a lifetime of trustworthy, ugly use. :-)

I'm not sure about the width... I'm assuming 3/16th or 1/4". Those were the options of steels that they gave me. I was speaking to the makers wife. I asked which steel he was most comfortable with, has the most experience with, and what he likes working with. She asked, and he said 5160. I said ill take it :-) I read that 5160 is a great steal for a mediocre knife. What they meant is that it is hard to really screw it up, but equally hard to do it perfectly. So a person with little skill will get decent results. Thanks for the advice!

Crimson, I would appreciate your advice. I am ordering a custom tracker style knife, and I was given the option of 1095, 1075, or 5160. For a tracker sized knife meant for some chopping etc, I thought that 5160 might be the way to go, bit I had no idea about 1075. I ignorantly assumed that for most all applications, 1095 was the best 10## series steel, and everything else was simply cheaper. But then I read that 1075 is tougher and easier to sharpen, but edge retention isn't as good, and it wont get as hard. It is a lot to ask, and i dont know if my question is out of place, but what do you think the strengths and weaknesses of these three steels would be in a tracker with a blade of about... 5.5"

Wow! I am all over a giveaway! Lol Kabar lists the history of 1095 crovan steel. I love talk to uncle Ethan though! Lol I love looking into basic metallurgy stuff too! I am not educated enough to really appreciate the complexities of it, but it makes for good reading. I like 5160 as well! That is what the "Khukuri House" advertises their Khukuri as being made of. I know 5169 is a leaf spring steel... Anyways, I like it. :-) Man... I am getting all excited! Talking about custom knives!

Crimson Falcon, I love your first Khuk there! Do you have a Facebook page, website, or store front? Or do you just do it as a hobby for yourself? Blue, no my old recon is made of carbon v steel in the us of a. In case anyone is wondering, carbon v is actually 1095 crovan, which is actually 170-6 sheridan. Camilus, kabar, and case all use 170-6 Sheridan under their own name. When camilus went under in 2005, food steel left America. (Camilus was sharing the steel, and possibly the factory... idk) I respect cold steels Japanese stuff, but i personally strongly dislike anything that says China, Taiwan, or Pakistan. I am bias

I have a 90s American made CS Recon tanto that a friend is reprofiling for me. My dad busted the tip when he was in the marine corps doing some counter drug op on the boarder, and since I was like 5 I asked why he never got it fixed... I asked him recently, and he said if you fix it, you can have it lol It is currently being reprofiled to be similar to a Becker Bk15/ Bk5

I asked my wife to do this one, and it turned out excellent. The perfect patriotic touch to a wall that needs a little something. $50+ s&h Ask about customer work! I plan on getting her to do my ar, and maybe the 308 ar forum logo soon!
