  1. North of Munday. My lease is off of FM 2534. I have no good reason to get out there from the end of Turkey season until September when it's time to get the feeders going again. Just about everything there either stings, sticks or bites you.
  2. Doc, My lease is actually less than 10 miles east of Rhineland on the Brazos. I don't think anybody drives through there without a purpose. Robo, I'll have to remember the sauce next time. Never tried rattlesnake before.
  3. Welcome from another North Texan. Great lookin' rifle you got there.
  4. Their definitely harder. The Mech Armor trigger would sometimes work on the second try but a few never ignited.
  5. Shooting Wolf WPA steel case.
  6. It was the group buy trigger. It was too light for those hard primers. But it works beautifully in my .300 SBR
  7. I've put about 120 through it at this point. Only time it didn't go boom was when I tried the Mech Armor trigger in it. Running an ALG ACT right now with no issues. Eventually I plan on trying a Hiperfire in it.
  8. Primary Arms has a pretty sale going. 20% of BCM Gunfighter charging handles and more
  9. I bought half a dozen krylon colors and could never get close to the Aervoe colors. I finally found the Urban Gray at http://armysurpluswarehouse.com. They had the Foliage Green also. Had to go Amazon for the Desert Sand
  10. Thanks for the compliments. I thought it turned our pretty well. Primary Arms has a great Digicam stencil. It is made of silicone so it is very flexible. They go on sale every so often for about $12. Paint was Aervoe Desert Sand, Urban Gray, and Foliage Green. I think they have quit making Urban Gray. It is not on their website anymore and I had a hard time finding it. Gun shoots great, eats the cheap stuff all day long.
  11. God bless him and God speed.
  12. Finished up my AR 7.62X39. Also decided to paint it. Still need to paint the mags though.
  13. You might check Gunbroker for FFL's. There are a lot of private guys that get on their list. That's where I found the guy I use.
  14. That does sound like a sweet setup. I tried to build mine on the cheap. Magtech Lower Carbine Buffer and Magpul CTR Stock Blem Upper Carbine gas system with Magpul MOE Fore end ARD 16" Barrel Tactical Ambush 7.62x39 Bolt and Enhanced Firing Pin Prime Weaponry Bolt Carrier NiB (These folks have great customer service and good prices) ALG ACT Trigger (it works but I don't like the trigger pull weight or travel) Do you think the Titanium Firing pin makes that much difference?
  15. I tried the new MechArmor trigger. It doesn't hit hard enough. Out of about 20 rounds, only one fired on the first strike. Works great on my 300BLK though. How about a Hyperfire?
  16. She's sexy alright.
  17. Speaking of triggers, any recommendations for a light trigger pull hard hitting trigger group for my 7.62x39 AR? The GI trigger I have in it now is terrible.
  18. Hodgden shows 41.5 gns @ 2500 fps as the starting load and 45.6 compressed @ 2728 fps as the high end for 175 gn. bullets. If you haven't seen any signs of pressure, which you shouldn't at 41.7, you may want to go up on the powder charge. Do you have a different powder you could try to eliminate the powder question? Any 4895?
  19. Great job. You should be a proud Pappa. <thumbsup>
  20. This story fits right in with the ones above: Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." replied the agent. Mr. Whiting said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it". "Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gar the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchman to show a passport to." You could have heard a pin drop. To those who have served in the military or law enforcement, I am forever grateful.
  21. A U.S. Navy admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian, and French navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French Admiral suddenly complained that, "whereas Europeans learn several languages, Americans learn only English". He then asked,"Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French"? Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arrainged it so you wouldn't have to speak German". You could have heard a pin drop.
  22. There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?" A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly:"Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency power to the shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day; They can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day; and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships, how many does France have?" You could have heard a pin drop.
  23. I meant to post these yesterday but left them at the office last week. When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of "empire building" by George Bush. He answered by saying,"Over the years, the United States has sent many of it's fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return". You could have heard a pin drop.
  24. Great looking rifle there! I cringe every time something gets shipped USPS. I order a bolt carrier that was shipped USPS, should have gotten it in two days, a week and a half later, I received an empty box. To their credit, they paid the insurance claim quickly. Thankfully, the place I bought the carrier, shipped me another one as soon as I told them the first one didn't make it.
  25. Great way to spend time with the family.
