  1. Now that is indeed impressive. You did a great job. My compliments.
  2. Hones for the upper receiver barrel but from Pacific Machine and Tool CQB carbine sling from DVOR A1 detachable carry handle rear sight
  3. Absolutely
  4. Great job to all those that took the time for the measurements.
  5. Appears to be good information and reading for those that reread the 7.62x39: http://rifleshooter.com/2017/04/reloading-the-7-62x39-mm-russian-load-development-with-125-and-150-gr-bullets/
  6. The new Armalite AR10 gas tubes just arrived from DSG. Lengths: Rifle: 15 1/2" Carbine: 12 1/16"
  7. Thanks gents ... now for the decision Currently and for the next few days DVOR is offering the following Criterion .308 barrels: http://www.dvor.com/criterion-barrels-ar-10-rifle-length-gas-system-barrel.html?promotion=criterion-barrels-54-2017-04-09 Unfortunately, the one SS and nitrided barrel they are NOT offering is this one: https://msrarms.com/collections/barrels/products/criterion-barrels-nitride-finish-stainless-steel-hybrid-contour-barrel-308-ar So I am wondering if there is any increased benefit to the SS barrel vs the nitrided SS barrel (or vice-versa), as per the increased cost? Too bad Fulton isn't offering a 16" Dissipator .308 barrel. It appears they've come up with a modified profile that appears to save some weight. I tripped the rule months ago so I'm going to make a purchase sooner or later I just cannot figure out how to win at the price game.
  8. So to make sure I understand you, your 16" rifle gas barrel is what caliber?
  9. How do you like the Criterion barrels? I've been eyeballing Criterion .308 16" barrels for a possible Dissipator build. They currently offer both a mid-length and full rifle length. I don't know which would work best for the Dissipator since there have been issues with the rifle length gas. They also offer stainless and nitrided, and stainless-nitrided which costs more. I don't know if the stainless nitrided would be worth the extra expense.
  10. COOL ... Maybe I can assist a little bit myself this time. I just took the following measurements with a tape measure: BCG Assembly overall lengths (all bolts pushed in): Factory Armalite AR10: 8 1/2" DPMS-based .308: 8 1/2 " Factory Colt AR15: 7 1/8" Measurements below of the gas tubes inside the upper receivers. Unfortunately I had to eyeball these with a mic as the mic was too big to fit inside the upper receiver. This is from the very inside edge of the upper receiver to the very tip of the gas tubes: DPMS AP4 .308 carbine barrel mounted to a Spikes Tactical forged upper with an AR15 carbine gas tube: .0725" Armalite model DEF-10 AR10 factory carbine upper (ALL factory parts): 1.1250 " Armalite model DEF-10 AR10 upper with a factory Armalite 20" rifle barrel mounted with an AR15 rifle-length gas tube: .0725" NOTE: I do not recall which make/model of BCG I'm using in the Spikes/DPMS carbine. It is a new BCG I bought off of a member selling it via this website way back when I first joined. If I recall, the seller did indicate that specific information in the as he posted so if a moderator can go back and find this we'll know who's BCG it is. There is no information at all engraved on this BCG. I can take other measurements if necessary just give me the specifics on what needs to be measured.
  11. You're very welcome. After reading all the issues identified in this thread (which again, I'm glad I caught this thread) from now on when I do a build I'm going to buy the barrel, BCG, gas tube, and most likely the buffer and spring from the same manufacturer (if possible) to at least start with. I checked Armalite's website and they are out of AR10 rifle length gas tubes however I found some with DSG: Armalite AR10 rifle length: https://dsgarms.com/arm10007010 Armalite AR10 "carbine": https://dsgarms.com/arm10007005
  12. Fulton Armory shows this for their .308 Titan, noting it is .325" longer and also works for Armalite AR10(s): http://www.fulton-armory.com/gastuberifle-1.aspx
  13. NOTE: This may factor in to what I was once told by a barrel-maker that you can use an LR-308 barrel in an Armalite upper IF you also use the LR-308 BCG, but you cannot mix and match. I guess this is where some of the differences and variations are between the 2 different manufacturers ... (???)
  14. As received this date from the "2nd. Amendment Insider": http://2ndamendmentinsider.com/atf-announces-nfa-branch-reorganization/ NOTE: Moderators if this is in the wrong place please move and/or consolidate as necessary. Thanks !!!
  15. Cap = hand guard end cap. The triangular or round metal piece that caps the opening of the front opening of the hand guard right behind the front sight gas block. It appears from the photos you have something on there.
  16. Did they offer a hand guard cap for the triangular or did you fab that, or what? I like it. Carbon fiber should be light as a hand guard can ever get. Too bad they don't offer one in OD green but the black will work for me. If I do a .308 dissy it's going to be heavy for sure. Might be the right part to help balance it all out.
  17. Thanks I got to look this one up. Very impressive hand guards. Looks right at home on that build.
  18. Who's hand guard is that? I don't recall ever seeing a "new" triangular. I'm considering a .308 dissy on the mid-length gas block concept with pinned FSGB. Got to find the right barrel as I want one as light as possible.
  19. That is one sweet weapon indeed. Very nice and inspirational.
  20. So then I wonder what the other manufacturers do to correct any of the issues? DPMS actually has an AR15 carbine length LR308 whereas Armalite's carbine is actually an AR15 mid-length setup. I'm wondering now if this 3/16" difference only applies to Armalite or if all the others are also all off that are using the AR15 tubes and have simply been speaking by?
  21. Makes sense to me. That ruler there shows the difference.
  22. I wonder what it takes to be a defense contractor; at minimum, to be the middle-man selling arms and ammo to the military and guvmint agencies? Got to know that whoever is doing that is making a large fortune. I'm sure this powder mill produced an enormous amount of ammo.
  23. Glad I acted fast enough.
  24. 1 LaRue trigger set with grip and block. 1 set of A1 triangular handguards 4 various weights of ammo 1 box each for .308 & .223 1 of the new Nikon Blackforce 1000 scopes (I have to wait a few weeks on this one - too new) 1 A1 front/rear sight combo tool 1 .308 buttstock cleaning kit
