The handguard arrived today, and it's a beautiful piece of work, but it doesn't fit. The upper handguard won't go into the handguard cup because it interferes with the barrel. The handguard cup on my AR-10BF is triangular, and I'm thinking this handguard needs a round cup. So I'm looking into it. Charlie

The Alostyr (whatever that means) foreend is going to be here Tursday. Yay! I'll post a pic when I get it installed. C

You're putting out the fire with gasoline. :-)

This thing. It's funny, but I don't own an AR-15 type rifle. Just the two AR-10s. The only .223 in the stable is a Steyr AUG NATO, and I like it, but it's a poster child for worst trigger ever! Charlie

How well I know! And I intend to do just that. I've been coveting an Armalite M153GN18, and my birthday is coming up! :-)

Looks good! I ended up ordering the Alostyr rail from Armalite. It's a pricey sucker, and overkill for what I want, but it's easy to install. And who knows, the other 12 feet of rail may come in useful. 😉

My buddy Ian is an AR guru, so I asked him. Voila! https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10-m15-alostyr-2-piece-mil-std-1913-handguard-assembly/?fbclid=IwAR0oW9Vx8KuHp5C5U0P6I3zkFSmjskYI6YfRPQfkhPWbsUFTzPhrsJwS0oQ

If the holes line up it would work. I can envision the backing nuts, but I don't have a lathe. Maybe I've got something in the junk box that would work. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Hi JT. My goodness, the gang's all here! Since I was last active I retired from my glamorous tech job, served a stint at Academy, and am now employed on-call at a craft beer store. I like the beer store, but Academy sucked, because I hate coming home at 2 in the morning and trying to please a supervisor who has never spent a single hour stocking or filling out 4473s!

Hey there. That would be outstanding! Thanks.

I'm looking for a short (7 to 9 slot) picatinny rail to attach to the forward end of the lower handguard of my AR-10BF (20" bbl) so that I can mount a bipod. So far I haven't found a thing! I even sent Armalite support an email requesting comment last Wednesday. It must be a tough question because so far no joy. Last resort would be to change the handguard for something with rails already on it, but I'm not sure what product to buy. Charles

Armalite AR-10 and M-15 bayonet lug. New in the package. $15.00. I have an Armalite AR-10 and M-15 gas block bayonet lug, Armalite Part No. 15806255KIT, new in the package. I bought it for my spare AR10-BNMF, but I downsized before I could install it. Armalite wants $28.78 for the bayonet lug , but I'll take $15.00 for this one, and I will ship the cheapest way that is guaranteed to get to you (probably 1st class mail). If you need more pics or details shoot me a message. The last pic is of an Armalite bayonet lug that I installed on my AR-10BF. The job is dirt simple. Turn the rifle upside down and rest it on its Picatinny rail. Use the appropriate size allen wrench to remove the two gas block screws, slot the lug and O-ring in, and reinstall the screws. Done!

I bought a Vortex Sparc II red dot for my MPX, mainly because it got good reviews (and I got a 20% discount on it. ;-). I liked it so much I picked up a Vortex Viper 2.5-10 X 44 with a 30mm tube for it as well. Both have exceeded my expectations for their price point.

Carrier interchangeability between AR10 and DPMS
Charlie replied to Gator Monroe's topic in General Discussion
Why are we beating the old Armalite vs anybody subject (again)? Are you guys unhappy with your choices? Don't take it out on me! Sheesh, Charlie -
My Armalites (AR-10BF and AR-10BNMF) would short stroke with anything less than 180gr ammo when they were new. They would cycle OK, but not hold open on the last round. The problem fixed itself after 100 rds or so. So lube the BC like crazy and try some heavier rounds before you go to the expense of major mods. Charlie

Welcome from Stonewall, Louisiana (out by scenic Hwy 171). I'm sure there's lots of folks around here that know better than me, so I'll just stand back and watch. :-) Charlie -
What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

Vortex Viper HS 2.5 - 10 x 44. 30mm tube, 2nd focal plane, and mucho superior optics. I don't think they're going to cause the Schmidt Bender guys to lose any sleep, but they're good scopes. Charlie -
Remington PFS-87 Folding stock. These are very nice, and were available on the 870P back in the '80s. You can carry the 18" 870 slung under your shoulder (and slicker) when running fences or feeding stock. It eliminates a lot of the worry about varmints (two legged and otherwise). Might be pricey, but sometimes available on ebay and GB. Make sure the attaching bolt is included, or it will be a full time job finding one. Charlie

I have a couple of Armalite B models, and it would be nice if there was a PMAG made for them, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I specifically bought Armalite because they are one of the premium manufacturers, and my AR-10BNMF is the cat's meow. Charlie

I have a couple of the cotton duck M-14 pouches and used them for HK-91 mags. Armalite 20rd "B" mags fit, and I don't see any reason why PMAG 20s wouldn't. I think they're still around here somewhere, but I went with MOLLE equipment back in 2010 and put all the ALICE stuff in a chest. The clips on the straps attach higher on the front of the "H" harness to keep the pouches from flopping around so much when you're running. Charlie

Stupid question time..So what exactly do you call this thing.
Charlie replied to beantown's topic in General Discussion
So when Colt got the government contract replacement parts became a low bidder thing (sort'a, kind'a public domain, but that's not the right terminology). Your analysis is exactly correct, and mine was not. Charlie -
Don't trespass in Louisiana. The sign means it. In Texas if you have a fence you don't even need a sign, because the fence is an implied no trespass sign. Land owners around here take that poop seriously. Charlie (in NWLA)
