    NEW BUILD

Yea thats what im worried about but more worried about burning the barrel up. I dont plan on doing back to back mag dumps out of it nor is that accurate shooting.
  3. Seekins uses MIM process in there bolt catch. Im using a AR 15 bolt catch in my LR308 build. Its much stronger then billet or the mil spec one you can buy.

98 you think pencil barrel might not get rid of heat with extended shooting? If so you think a slim profile with some fluting might be better?

Might have the whole inside of upper and BCG treated with R85 or micro slick.

So im thinking with 223 wylde chamber. Not sure if i should go mid length gas system or carbine gas system. I want to run from 55 grain up to 77 grain ammo. I know some will shoot better then other in my build but want to leave some options.

Ha lol. Well we will see what the wallet can afford.I will definitely have some pictures as the build come along. I think 98 gave me a really nice option to start with. I might go with standard upper/ lower but Cerakoted. Im thinking of doing majority of the gun in OD green.

I agree with you 98. I want it to be light is #2 . #1 is it must be reliable or its useless.

If i can build a 5.5lb with standard 6061 or 7075 receivers ill go that route. Carbon fiber might be out of the budget

    NEW BUILD

So guys starting a new AR 15 build. I know this is about 308 here but i value the opinions or abuse here LOL. Im building a 16" carbine with it needing to be very light. Has to be 5lbs something without optics. I want 16" barrel with the flexibility of shooting 0-300 yards being max. Leaning towards another BHW barrel cause they build any profile with fluting done and cerakote finish, but open to any suggestions. It will have a fixed magnification light weight scope or a red dot sight. Will have back up flip up sights. The barrel will be fluted. The stock im looking for light weight but also some comfort, so willing to sacrifice a little here . Definitely going Giessele for my FCG. Thinking of SLR adjustable gas block. Like that they have a locking detent. This is going to be my SHTF gun. So any thoughts and ideas on this matter?
  12. Ok that was funny as hell!

  14. Just ordered mine
  15. sounds like me telling my buddy all the time that he is big wallet
  16. Also Pmags are not the best option. I have some Pmags for my AR15 and one will not feed unless i hold up on it. Only with this one pmag.
  17. I had a similar problem but my rifle is not a factory built gun. I had a fitment issue between receivers. I ended up installing seekins precision AR15 enhanced bolt catch. It goes a little higher when empty mag is installed plus the way its made makes it stronger.
  18. Yea i seen that you can send your parts that you want the coating to be done on. Also reviews seem to be very beneficial once done on every aspect of the BCG and Upper.
  19. So been doing some reading on different coatings. Im interested in the coatings cause it can help with the cleanings and no worrying about needing enough oil in gun. Does anyone know if Micro Slick is the same as DSL like the army is using? If so is there s DIY kit to buy?
  20. I would love to get the opportunity to do that one day but, the longest range i know of in my area is 600 yards. My local range i belong to goes out to 300 yards.
  21. Thanks for the info 98z5v. Buddy is trying to build 308 caliber gas gun to go out to 1000 plus yards. Which is all well and fine but there is no range that i know of close to me that even goes that far. Tried to explain that adding a 20" build will be adding some weight. Ill be happy when i can start shooting 600 yards good
  22. LOL yea me to. Its nice to dream or i could just put it on the plastic. But regardless I think the wife would
  23. If there is no replacement for displacement should go right to the Norren bad news 338 lapua http://onlylongrange.com/bad-news-338-lapua-magnum/
