  1. Ordered two things this morning. 1) The Primary Arms 3-18x50mm FFP Rifle Scope - Illuminated Athena BPR MIL Reticle ( https://www.opticsplanet.com/primary-arms-3-18x50mm-ffp-rifle-scope-illuminated-athena-bpr-mil-reticle.html?_iv_code=29R-RS-PA13-PA3-18X50FFP-ATHENA-BPR-MIL ) It wont ship for another 1 to 3 months! 😥 The web sites photo of the reticle is awful. It looks like this: Well, that's not much better. Its the same as their top of the line scope. The top line manual is here https://www.primaryarms.com/pa-platinum-series-6-30x56mm-ffp-rifle-scope-with-illuminated-athena-bpr-mil-reticle 2) The Magpul Industries Bipod with Picatinny rail mount.
  2. So Lane, are you thinking along the lines of a side charging handle to move the bolt carrier to unlock the bolt? If you made the handle long enough, you could get a lot of leverage on it. Or, is that cute brain of yours envisioning something similar to a pump action? Nope. You’ll come up with something unique, patent that sucker, make a fortune and move out of that anti-liberty state you currently call home Whatever it is, I can’t wait to see it.
  3. I’ve got it. Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the report but I have to ask... what did you have to mod and do you have any pics?
  5. That up there ^^^ explains so much for me. I have gathered from some Wise Builders on this site not to mix uppers and lowers from different manufacturers, but I truly didn’t understand why. Some stated there may be functional issues, but I didn’t understand what those might be. Some stated the lines wouldn’t match up. I thought they ment it would be aesthetically unpleasant. That might be true, but “lines” could also mean just what you are talking about. I’m seriously considering abandoning building a 243 and 260 with 80% lowers. Thanks for clicking on the light bulb in my head.
  6. It may be an optical illusion, but the Palmetto extractor claw seems to be a smaller radius than the Fulton. Will a 5.56 extractor fit in a .308 bolt?

    Hello

Welcome from South Mississippi. What cha’ buildin’?
  8. Leave the barrel as is. It just disappears. I love it. It’s beautiful.
  9. Is this the ugliest gun ever? I swore it was an Airsoft when I first saw it. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/03/12/disgusting-gun/
  10. Pneumonia. Wow. Please take care, and I’ll pray for you. ?
  11. You be da man! Carry on ?
  12. Another thought. If that radar can detect a bullet but not it’s speed (even though it is a Doppler) you could use 2 to replace the optical sensors in a home made chrono.
  13. That X Band radar is pretty darn cool. What would your pulse width and pulse repitition rate be? Any idea what your beam width or receiver gain needs to be to detect a bullet? >$100 for a horn antenna is nuts. They’re not that hard to make. Are you an EE or just really handy with hardware and software? Sorry for all the questions. Let’s make it easy. Just send in an application, resume and $50 processing fee to me. ? I haven’t read your links yet but I will ASAP. My shooting range has a “short” lane for up to 300 yards, 600 yard mid and 1k long. I’ve had no problems from the Labradar detecting my rounds because of scatter. However, I can see it having trouble getting a reading if your target was stapled to a heavy tree line at 50 or 60 yards. That’s well within it detection range and I could see the heavy reflection from the trees causing the receiver to loose track. Just a guess.
  14. I don’t have anyway to check the accuracy myself. However, The Firearm Blog had an article that compared it to an expensive commercial unit. It averaged about +- 2fps of the big boy. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/06/30/labradar-vs-professional-weibel-doppler-radar-benchmark-test/amp/ I think that’s pretty darn good for something that the average Joe can afford. At 2000 FPS, that’s what...0.1% error.
  15. I got the Labradar for Christmas. With that being able to intergrate with the software... and the gauges so cheep... maybe ??? Nope. I really need to get a new scope and bipod first. But, I will put this on my to get list.
  16. The software is only $100. That’s a really nice setup. You are going to have so much fun.
  17. That was my hope when I posted the link. I can’t remember if you ever stated that you had the Quick Load program he referenced. I have it and would be happy to crunch numbers for you.
  18. I never understood how resonance alone could be responsible for shot dispersion. Take 175 gr FGMM for example. It's shot in so many different 308 guns and preforms remarkably in all of them. I ran across a theory developed by Christopher Long that I think nails the explanation. If his theory is correct, I'm not sure one could ever prove what barrel length is optimum. http://www.the-long-family.com/shock wave theory summary explanation.pdf
  19. That brass looks great. I can't wait to learn something new. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
  20. LOL. I hope so my man. I’ve seen what you can do with a hunk of steel. That bipod adaptor you made was awesome. I can work wood, but nowhere near as well as you work metal. Very nice job. I forgot to say I have a Mad Dog Weapons System hybrid muzzle device. It keeps the muzzle rise down but it’s not much for recoil reduction. But it does what I want it to do, so for now, I’m keeping it.
  21. When a get a spare $1k, I want a suppressor. Sometime, in the future, wait, wait wait. I really should have waited until after I have a suppressor to see if I needed one, but when I get to ordering online, that mouse just clicks itself.
  22. ? sorry, I’m easily distracted. So, I buy 3 80% lowers when whoever has a sale again. I build that 260 for her, using some lame excuse like,” it’s not as heavy as that 308 and it kicks a lot less. You’ll love it” When she picks it up, it will be too heavy but she’ll like the lighter recoil. I’ll say, “ ok, I have 2 more lowers, I’ll make you a 243 that you like with a thin barrel that will weigh next to nothing”. I get 2 more rifles that I like, she gets one she’s happy with. And I have one more lower. Win, win. I mean, what could possibly go wrong ?
  23. Thanks everyone. I have the Standard A4. I’ve added the Tro FF Rail, SLR low profile adjustable GB. I still have the A2 stock. I’m still running the M1000 scope. It’s developed 3 flat spots in the cam section of the scope. I “NEED” to replace it. I almost purchased the PA 4-14 with the MOA reticle today. Then I noticed they are bringing back the R-Grid in Meal-Dots. Now I have to make a decision. I have a cheepo Caldwell Tripod. That’s going to get upgraded to a Magpul. After that, we’ll its funny everyone mentioned that I could use a newer, sexier playmate. I remember reading about ARTroopers 260 Rem build and thinking, “What the hell is that?” Then I read bfoosh006’s PSA build. That was inspirational. If he had a problem, he just fixed it. Then I read 98Z5V’s 260 Rem build. Light bulbs are going off. My wife has a POS Rossi single shot combo for 243/22 LR/20 Ga. I hate it, she loves it. What can I do? I load 243 for her, 308 for me. Instead of that 6.5 C that caught my eye, why not a 260 Rem? I have tons of brass I could use. So, I’ll get the LAR-8 up to speed, than that 260’s goin’ happen.
  24. Thanks, y'll. I love the RRA, however, the little lady could stand to go on a diet. She tips the scales around 14.5 lbs. (I think. Its been awhile since I weighed her). I've only put one box of 168 gr thru her. I've just started reloading and I've put about 50 165 gr Hornady SST's thru her too. She likes those. I haven't tried the 175's yet but its on the list. Mrs. Santa brought me a LabRadar for christmas. I love that girl. I'm planning to load a lot of differant stuff this spring and summer. I've shot up all the 147 stuff just to figure out what I'm doing. Getting better. Now is the time to up my game.
  25. May I suggest Long Range Shooting Simulation (https://www.shooterready.com/) This is Not a video game. There are no missions to complete. It is a computer simulation that teaches one how to range a target of known size using the scopes reticle in either mildot or MOA. It's the best $50 educational tool I've used.
