Had a great time at the NRA Guns and Gear show this weekend. Needless to say there were tons of cool firearms, celebrities and other great merch. I'm always a fan of higher-end stuff (went all fanboy at the Knight's Armament booth) but also like less expensive guns if they are acceptably accurate and reliable. Diamondback's DB10PB13 .308 pistol seems like maybe it falls into this category and kind of grabbed me such that I'm considering buying one (https://diamondbackfirearms.com/portfolio/db10pb13/ and:) I've posted questions about short(er)-barreled .308s here before and understand that they will be louder than a more conventional .308 rifle with a 16"+ barrel. I am still however kind of thinking about buying one of these, especially since I do not think I'm ready to try a.308 pistol build yet. Does anyone own one of these or another DB .308 and/or have any other kind of insight into this company's .308s? Also, is a .308 pistol actually enjoyable to shoot and something you would take out for a fun day at the range or more of a "last resort/backup" type weapon? The video makes it look like it would be fun but I kind of wonder... I know their DB9 pistols have a bit of a checkered history (looks like they have a new Gen 4 version that may be an improvement) but have found some resources online that seem to indicate their that.308 rifles are pretty solid. I also know there are other .308 pistol options on the market that are better quality, including some Armalite .308 pistols that were manufactured a few years ago (and cost $2K+) but this about half the price or less and if it's decent I'll be happy.

Sounds like a great time. I initially floated a Red Ryder but Mom said she's not old enough yet and suggested a Nerf gun instead.

No worries, she has a couple sets of eye protection, one pair that I got to go with her first projectile weapon when she was three (a rubber band gun) and another set of safety glasses that came with a kid's science set my wife I got her last Christmas. Safety is heavily emphasized and fortunately there hasn't been any need for "guns are cool"-type indoctrination...she's a smart kid and has figured that out on her own.

I don't know anything about revolvers but consider this and increased capacity important factors. Thanks to a cousin that's a 1911 guy I understand the appeal of the .45 cartridge but never bought in due to higher ammo cost and other factors such as the 9mm being as capable for many (most) applications, etc.

Yes, I think it will be a hit. My sister-in-law's only concern was w/regard to getting something small enough for my niece to handle.
-
LOL...it's not only allowed it's encouraged. Should also be a good learning experience w/regard to the difference between magazines and clips as I noticed the Nerf folks confused the two.

Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Happy Easter 308AR! After getting her Mom's approval I sent my 4 year old niece a semi-auto weapon and "high capacity" magazine as gifts. They have Nerf gun shootouts at her daycare and, like any good Uncle I want her to well-armed. https://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Strike-Elite-Stryfe-Blaster/dp/B009T45XNM/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=nerf+stryfe&qid=1555711583&s=toys-and-games&sr=1-4 https://www.amazon.com/Official-Nerf-N-Strike-18-Dart-Reload/dp/B0083TXZCA/ref=pd_bxgy_21_img_2/136-7438771-9765943?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B018KLHQ4I&pd_rd_r=bbe874b4-62ef-11e9-bef6-397a2872612d&pd_rd_w=SCKqV&pd_rd_wg=2WP9Z&pf_rd_p=a2006322-0bc0-4db9-a08e-d168c18ce6f0&pf_rd_r=2RSPYGD7TG5442A6HC03&refRID=2RSPYGD7TG5442A6HC03&th=1

Very cool shooting irons Bubba, thanks for sharing. I need to give some more consideration to this Scout optic thing. I'm probably going to stick with the irons-only config on my new rifle as it has grown on me but should probably get another w/a Scout scope as it will be a proper traditional Scout rifle. Annual bonus time is coming up so I'll have some money burning a hole in my pocket and it's also important to abide by the "two is one, one is none" principal.

I wonder why they aren't more popular (or at least don't seem to be)...

Though they are definitely heavier I have gotten attached to my AR-10s for hunting Whitetails in WI but elevation is only around 1200' (I've been logging walking distances of approx. 8 miles a day w/my pedometer) . If weight becomes a concern for whatever reason though I would have no problem with making the MVP my primary hunting rifle. The bolt action may be a bit slower than a semi-auto for follow up shots but I don't consider this a major concern. My Dad has repeatedly used his (POS) .303 British while hunting over the decades to demonstrate that a bolt gun can be operated both accurately and quickly. He's like an old west gunfighter with it when it comes to bagging Whitetails.

Thanks for the reply Cliff, glad to hear some more positive feedback on this rifle.

It sounds like you owe it to yourself to get a new Scout rifle Robocop. FYI, there is a scoped model of the MVP Scout that comes with a forward-mounted Vortex 2-7x optic with long eye relief (https://www.mossberg.com/product/mvp-scout-rifle-scoped-combo-27793/). I went with irons-only model as I'm not sure I would like the forward mounted optic. I've also been wanting a lighter weight, stripped-down .308 with open sights only anyway. A local gun dealer did give me a good idea of what the Vortex Scout 2-7x would be like by demoing a pistol scope for me but I think I'm too accustomed to glass being mounted in the conventional rail position to adjust to anything different at this point.

Thanks!

Dang it...wrong URL, here's the correct one: https://www.mossberg.com/product/mvp-scout-rifle-27778/

16.25", it has an adjustable trigger too. Full specs are at https://www.nomadasaurus.com/7-days-pamir-highway-tajikistan-guide/.

Thanks for the replies gents. These rifles are inexpensive (I paid a little over $500 out the door) but do have decent reviews and the quality seems solid. I also like the fact that it's American.

Thanks and I will provide a range report when I can.

Just got it and I can't wait to get it to the range when it warms up a bit. It came with one Magpul 10 cap mag and a sling w/hardware that I'm going to install after I post this. I have not settled on optics yet. I kind of like it with just the irons it comes with but we'll see. I have a Primary Arms 1-6x w/ACSS reticle on one of my AR-10s and PA now has a 1-8x version of that optic that might be cool on this rifle. https://www.mossberg.com/category/series/mvp-series/mvp-scout/

"The department said Mark Jones was walking when the Hi Point 9 mm handgun he was carrying in his waistband without a holster began to slip. Jones reached down to adjust the gun and it discharged. The bullet entered just above his penis and exited his scrotum." https://wpta21.com/news/top-stories/2019/02/28/marion-police-respond-after-man-accidently-shoots-self-in-genitals/?fbclid=IwAR2ILgL1rbKG3DhgwvyAmhH03O0YzYNr77Yhm5l-Ls85vKiJiNnIGJ6G-9M&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_ABC21_WPTA
