Yes, and I have pretty much the same response as Sisco. In addition to serving as a passable red dot alternative at 1x w/the illumination on a scope with an etched reticle will also still be usable/useful for many use cases if the battery dies or the fancy electronics otherwise fail. I have a Primary Arms 1-6x ACSS Gen 3 scope on one of my .308 rifles and one of the imprtant reasons I bought it is because it has an illuminated reticle and 1x magnification option for close-quarter/fast shooting type application especially hunting in heavy cover.

Rifle Transport Bag/Ala Shooting Mat
EugeneStoner replied to Whiskeyfish's topic in Gear & Accessories
I have this two-in-one NcStar rifle case that folds out into a three-section/panel shooting mat and like it. It's inexpensive but decent quality and has some nice features including shoulder straps and a fair amount of storage for gear besides your rifle. I shopped around for a while and settled on it after coming across Sootch's review below. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003G32308/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&amp&psc=1&pldnSite=1 Sootch's Review -
Fortunately I'm not one of those poor shlubs as my wife told me to take the hoodie off so she could apply the iron-on.

I received my order for a Missouri Tactical A2 grip plug this week and it is very good (https://motacpro.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fa2-pistol-grip-plug-for-arm4). Its fit is secure and I am confident it will withstand an unlimited amount of recoil without falling out. I did need to lubricate it as per its instructions to secure it in my Armalite DEF10's A2 grip. While it is designed to store a CR123 battery and an Allen wrench I am using it to store an Otis .308 grip cleaning kit (https://www.armalite.com/product/fg-225-76-ar10-762-308-win-otis-pistol-grip-cleaning-kit/)*. I got this grip cleaning kit for quick field bore cleans including those unfortunate occasions when you drop your rifle muzzle-first into the snow or mud (e.g. while hunting Whitetail deer in Wisconsin) and need to clear the barrel. *Armalite has these kits on clearance and are listing them as an AR-10 grip kit. While they are 7.52x51/.308 Win kits caliber-wise the grip inserts are for the M40 and its relatives (please see the pics) so they don't work with an AR A2 grip. This is what led to the purchase of the Missouri Tactical A2 grip plug. The Otis grip kit's cable, brush, and obstruction clearing hardware all fit within the A2 grip with this plug. Also note that Armalite took nearly a month to ship my order for two of these kits (don't be surprised if your order takes this long too).

Here are the Brother ScanNCut files for the .308 iron-on transfer if anyone is interested. I do not know anything about this platform but was told that the .cwprj file is for the design tool which creates the .fcm file used by the ScanNCut hardware. I'm pretty sure these are proprietary formats but they could maybe be converted to other formats for use with other software/hardware platforms. 308.cwprj 308.fcm

Thanks, unfortunately I have to wait 48 hours to wear it as the iron-on transfer needs to set.

I'm sorry 98Z5V, would love to help you out but the boss said no ?. If it's any help Googling "Custom Iron-On" brings up results with some companies you can order from and this company offers a similar t-shirt: https://anztshirt.com/product/308-pistol-rifle-308-gun-shirt-ammo-round-size-tshirt-anz/#

Thanks, she "doesn't like guns" but did it anyway...I think the new SUV she got this week might have something to do with it. ?

Posting this here as I guess it is more or less qualifies as gear and/or an accessory (and I couldn't find a "Crafting" or "Fashion" category to put it under). My wife is a crafter and has one of those ScanNCut machines that makes custom vinyl iron-ons, decals, etc. She's been using it to make Christmas gifts for friends and family lately but I convinced her to take a break from the glitter "Live, Laugh, Love", cats, unicorns and that type of thing to customize a new hoodie I bought at Walmart yesterday.

?Congratulations! Nice deer!
-
? Congratulations, that's a nice buck. I think it's cool you used a (not necessarily conventional for Whitetail hunting) 7.62x39 rifle with a shorter barrel too.

Very cool rifle, I mean pistol JT. Thanks for the tip on that brace too. The point about how the actual difference(s) between a pistol and a rifle can be minimal to nil is well taken. My preference for a "regular rifle" is primarily because it seems like it may make things simpler when it comes to travelling with the weapon and staying in compliance with various locales' laws than it would with a pistol. -

Thanks for the replies 98Z5V and suzukiray. I did not mention it initially but the Armalite AR10TAC14 version I am most seriously considering does not require an NFA stamp as it has a 13.5" barrel extended to 16" via a pinned and welded brake. I'm not adverse to doing what's needed NFA-wise to purchase a "true" SBR and a suppressor (get the stamps, etc.) but based upon what I've read in some other threads here and heard from other SBR owners something like this rifle that does not require NFA compliance might make more sense for me. One reason for this is that I would regularly be travelling out of state to hunt with it and do not want to jump through the hoops required to transport it as is required with a "true" SBR. I am aware that a .308 pistol w/a brace could also get around all these hassles too and could be a smart choice but I would prefer having a regular rifle with a short(er) barrel. This particular model does not have Armalite's competition brake 98Z5V but does have one of their "Flash Suppressing Compensators" as pictured at the URL below. Do you (and everyone else that reads this...please share your opinion) think it will be about as good as the Armalite Competition Brake? https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10tac14-tactical-rifle/ -

Thanks for the reply jtallen83, I can now be sure that the concerns about SBRs typically being louder are legitimate. I'm going to give some serious thought to a .308 SBR build. I enjoy reading the .308 build threads here and get tempted to give it a try partly because I think pretty much anything that could go wrong has its solution/forewarning posted here somewhere. It would definitely be a good learning experience and as I only have Armalite rifles a DPMS pattern .308 SBR battle rifle might be cool. -

Narrator: "The ultimate Wal-Mart open carry pistol has arrived..." I predict Remington will sell millions of these here in Indiana alone. Kidding aside I really do like these pistols, especially the .308 but they are probably not something I would actually buy. They are a very cool spin on the good old Model 700 though. BTW are short(er) barreled unsuppressed .308s much louder than their 16" or 18" (or longer) barreled rifle counterparts? I'm seriously thinking about getting an Armalite AR10TAC14 w/open sights only for close range/heavy cover whitetail hunting but have some reservations about this that are related to hearing damage. I have heard from SBR owners and found multiple other pretty solid sources that rifle cartridges fired from short(er)-barreled rifles are usually much louder than their longer barreled counterparts. I have not found any hard data w/decibel measurements, etc. on this though and it's all been anecdotal (e.g. "shooting a .308 SBR is very unpleasant, felt like I got punched by an MMA fighter", etc.). Though I do not typically crank out alot of rounds while deer hunting w/out hearing protection my wife already complains enough about me having the TV too loud as it is. -
Very cool,. ?

?, nice.

I meant to say that California is closer to Mexico than Indiana so it seems like their ammo should be at least as easy and inexpensive to obtain in CA as it is here. I cannot lie...I like California and Aguila ammo including their subsonic Super Colibri .22lr. Anyway, here's an interesting article on Aguila: https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2016/7/14/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-aguila-ammunition/

I did not have a problem with it but it sounds like one potential KSG caveat for some is to avoid working the action like a girly man. I did not have any short-shucking/stroking problems with the gun's pump action but it sounds like some others may have.
-
The little short bastards are pretty much made for the KSG. I am well aware of the fact that Kel-Tec is a controversial "love/hate" brand but I am a fan and dare say you should maybe consider getting a KSG. You have probably already seen this but Nutnfancy's review is a good resource: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfsJPEUdERM

Yes sir, I am happy to provide a range report. I fired 20 rounds/one box of Aguila Minishell buckshot with my Kel-Tec KSG w/out any type of feed or other malfunction at all. This was followed by 25 rounds of Federal Multi-Purpose Field & Target 2 3/4" 7 1/2 shot which also produced no feed or other type of malfunction. I had alot more of the Federal birdshot on hand but running it with this lightweight shotgun was rough on my shoulder (and converted me to Aguila minishells as far as my KSG is concerned). As I guessed you already know about this ammo and have the OPSol adapter for your gangsta Mossberg 98ZbV.

Hi Robocop1051. With all respect I'm a little surprised by your response as it's readily available in quantity pretty much everywhere here in Indiana for $17-$20 a box (i.e. buckshot, slugs and birdshot). Seems like this Mexican ammo would/should be easier to get in CA than here in the Midwest.
