  1. Anyone that calls what we do camping obviously never had to share a shelter half with anyone. At this point in my life, I'll take it! And how a bad azzed Marine ever ended up with small poodles, I'll never know! 😁😁
  2. Thank you! This is the third iteration of (glamping) camping set in two years. Finally found a solution that I can handle moving, driving and parking, Ann can drive it if the need arises. And the comforts fit her idea of, well, comfort. This does fit us to a tee. We need to be away from the general pubic, we really don't want to have to trust hotels and motels to be more germ and bacteria free than our own "home". We never have to worry about Sami the pooch, he can generally go where we go (he does that at home too). The apricot pooch is Bourbon, 7 pounds of toy poodle. We had him for about 9 years, he left us in October of '23, he was 14 - 16 years old. The silver pooch is Sami. He's a little over a year and a half old. 14 pounds of miniature poodle, 90 pounds of chaotic energy, wonder and love!
  3. This is us now. The 5er went to another family, replaced with a newer 5er, then that went away and was replaced with this, a 32' Jayco Greyhawk. Since it does not have the storage of the truck and 5er, the Jeep gets filled, and I mean filled! This is our two week pack out at the lake two hours away. We typically do this two to four times a year - well, we reserve for 4 times, with my health restrictions we've averaged twice this year and once last year. This coming year we are planning to go places we've not been to before.
  4. So the advantage of the ARC is to throw heavier 224 downrange faster. The ARC twist rate is normally 7:1? That sounds like th perfect varmint cartridge for varminters that like to stick to 22s. Bet it has a hell of a crack. I had a contender once that had a 14" 7:1 or 1:7 whatever, heavy, and It was great with 62gr on up. Stupidly sold it.
  5. Oh horse shyte! Now jumping? You kidding me? I'll repel down a mountain or tower, I'll climb a clif with a pack and rope, I will never again jump out of a chopper with a rope, notfuckinhappening. And that was then! Now I'm not doing any of that, I much prefer to ensconce myself in a nice hide and wait....
  6. I hate flying. ☚ī¸
  7. Yeah, I'd read it if I didn't have join something.
  8. Good to see things going the way they should. Too bad there has to be such a Phuckin' mess about it.
  9. Had to maintain some sort of "I'm a fair person" persona. 🙄
  10. Don't we wish all county sheriffs were like minded and stood up to the fed!
  11. Oh joy. At the very least local police should be totally ashamed the feds are able to walk in like that.
  12. I've known a couple of folks exactly like Hooper. It is so unfortunate folks like him burn so bright when the need is no longer. RIP brother.
  13. That little spot on the river looks like perfection! The big rig is home away from home My wife and I bought a new pop-up in 1999, bump out dinette - it was great, especially camping in tight spaces along rivers and creeks. I could always bull it around to face the way we wanted it to face so you KNOW we always walked outside facing the water!! One weekend in NJ (Memorial Day 2000 I think), the heat index was 115 and humid enough that we needed Draeger's; that was all it took for her to decide she wanted A/C and less outdoor take down. We ended up with a 33' Layton for a number of years - ducted A/C was a lifesaver at the time. Nowadays I like to sit in my OZTent Gekko chair, coffee and pooch and just watch the surface of the lake as everything begins their day or ends their night. Blue Herons are some outstanding hunters!
  14. I feel for ya having to put up with those eats! Thats real punishment! 🙄 Looks like a lot of fun! Gotta visit AZ (or where ever there is a friendly desert) one day...
  15. YES!!!!LOL! If only for a little while!
  16. Now this is us two weeks at "the lake" - Kerr Lake - huge, VA and NC. For the past 6 years or so, we have done two, two week pack outs to specific lake side sites, we tend to camp with two other couples, we trade cooking chores, always have dinner together, sometimes late breakfast together, Mickey and I usually go out on the water at @6am and fish(?) till 9. He fishes, I enjoy the peace.
  17. So here is our "four day get outta town" set. Quick deploy, maximum relaxation and quick takedown. Met a couple behind us, Robin and Wesley, good folks!
  18. Glamping - whatever you do and call it. Taking a four day trip up to Elkin, going to listen to a local band Saturday night (I hope they don't suck) and otherwise enjoy three full days of idle-ness. This is a down and dirty trip, just need to get away from the responsibilities of home and associated bullshyte. I'll post pictures of this quick trip, then maybe follow with past, full blown two week-at-the-lake setups.
  19. Gonna be SUCH a fun-filled informational week. 🙄
  20. I had the P238 - really really liked that pistol, and I would have another. Replaced for the same reason, but replaced with a Ruger LCP Max, I really wanted to keep the pocket carry option and the Max works.
  21. Nosey folks ought not gossip so much - have they nothing better to do? Damn I'm glad I got homey as hell as I matured! I was SO tired of my wife getting jealous of the attention I'd get from so many men. I think she may have felt a little insecure in her womanliness. 🙁
  22. They make those just a bit over an hour away from me...
  23. I so wish many more instructors would spend more time on the "why a revolver can be such a good choice". I also wish more new shooters would/could think about the theory/actuality of operation of revolvers vs semi autos. My wife is so taken with MAC 11s and Tec 9s, but her first reach at night is for her five shot S&W at her bedside.
  24. I have to say it's good to see that others are so like minded, my mindset is built on years and decades of my own do's and dont's, and consist of decocker/safety for CCW and a 1911 for car travel (condition 2) within half arms reach. Always a CCW or revolver at hand though. While I have been known to pocket an LCP Max when running out the door to get milk or something silly/quick, I stick by my safety/decockers and never appendix carry.
  25. Funny about the levergun home defense - I consider my 357Mag Henry as the perfect walking around home defense/checkthingsoutfrontatnight rifle - who the hell pays attention to the old man with the levergun? 357 Mag carbine in the neighborhood? more than enough to put an end to a stupid attack, y'know?
