What do you have on order or in the mail?

Be jealous..... -
That was my argument!! How can they deny my $2,000 1911, and still accept a $500 Glock??? My fall back plan was the FNP45, but they denied the FNH pistols... and the Springfield Armory XD's. Complete ignorance of quality.

Good thing those stubby PMAGs are cheap :o -
When gunaphobes run a department they fear the "cocked and locked" gun. I argue that there is no difference, but they are blind to their ignorance. Their argument, they only want DA/SA or DAO automatic pistols. Although Glocks are allowed?!? What is the difference between a Glock with a 5# trigger and a 1911 with a 5# trigger???

I guess "need" isn't the most appropriate word, but it's a lot easier to write than "really, really, REALLY, want"... My department rewrote their on-duty carry policy (after 15 years). Previously we were allowed to carry either Beretta 94's or Sig P226's, both in .40 cals. Now the list has expanded to Ruger, S&W, Glock, HK, and Colt... As long as it is NOT a 1911... That last part fucked me good. I'm not a Glock fan (nothing against Glock, just not for me), and based on the choices I'm thinking I'll stick with the Sig. Here's my thinking.... Then maybe a set of these G10 grips... Don't tempt me to try this too... ... with perhaps one of these... Oh no. My wallet is already starting to panic.

The wear and tear on their machines has got to be atrocious as well. SI Defense has an extensive history making titanium parts for the aviation industry, including the USAF and NASA. While I'm sure they no strangers to the complications of working with titanium... I guarantee 98Z5V is right, PAIN IN THE ASS is worth a lot of $$$

Uh oh, I might have to shoot that RCP when I come down. You'd better check my pockets before I leave too.

Newer model LR308 - The .308 RECON
Robocop1051 replied to Robocop1051's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
I posted this rifle as I am a big fan of its features. As fit upgrades?? Optics are a must. The ACOG is a tried and true option, albeit expensive. A BAD-ASS unit would definitely be in order, possibly an ambi mag release. I would have really liked to see a flip up tower sight on the gas block instead of a useless lo-pro that isn't even hidden. Otherwise lengthen the handguard another 2"-4" and cover that silly thing, it's wasted space... A modular rail would have beena nice option vs the heavier quad rail. -

I just ordered a 5rd "stubby" PMAG for my .308 and for my AR15. They're pricey, but that's the cost of custom. I picked the Ranger Plate option for the AR15 PMAG. I figure one each will get me through a hunting trip. Bought from www.MidwestPX.com -

Considering a Mega Machine AR and MA-TEN Group Buy offering
Robocop1051 replied to branson1369's topic in For Sale or Trade
This is an ongoing group buy. You may have missed the order date, but there will be another and another. If Dave doesn't PM you back soon, send him a PM/email through his profile page. Dave is a stellar guy, and many of us have bought from him... Some of us multiple times. -
I like the idea of the new Colt, call me a Koolaide drinker if you must. Although I don't think the concept of this rifle was designed for the average gun enthusiast. I believe this is 100% targeted towards the military, and even more so towards the Special Forces units. Picture this, a small unit of military SF guys has a mission. This mission requires them to move fast and light. Their individual roles are going to change as their mission develops. You can't enter a building with a standard rifle, you can't snipe with a short bbl rifle. Do you carry two complete weapons? So now picture this, the same team travels armed with assault rifles moves to their destination. Those that are committed to a dynamic entry can swap out to SBR configurations with just a swap of a 3-4 lbs upper. Now here's the bigger advantage, those that are going to assigned a long range sniper position only need to carry an upper designed for that purpose. He can change from a small mobile caliber to a much bigger, heavier caliber. Add one or two mags for the long range upper, and you are several pounds lighter and considerably more mobile than carrying an assault rifle and a sniper rifle. Just a theory.

Nope, YOU are still required to spend all your money. You have graduated from simple fascination to full blown addiction!! <lmao>

Robocop1051's 14.5" Dissipator 300 AAC Blackout
Robocop1051 replied to Robocop1051's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
Update: I have decided it is going to be easier (and possibly more reliable) to finish this build as a DI rather than the piston. It also will save me about $200 <thumbsup> I'm ordering a WMD NiB Full Auto BCG from Brownells in a few mins. Just gotta pick out a lo-pro GB first. -
My personal suggestion is to get the smaller format, AR15, chambered in an efficient hunting cartridge. I shot my last Muley in northern Colorado with a bolt .308. He was 225#'s and running up hill. I hit him in the shoulder from about 175-200 yards with a 175gr soft point. That was an overkill round. I lost the entire shoulder of the buck due to bone explosion. If you're taking suggestions. The 300Blackout caliber has a very respectful following now. I feel it has surpassed the "wyldecat" status. Some of the hand loaders are getting around 2,500 fps with a 125gr bullet. Plus you can plink for around $14-$15 a box. The hunting rounds vary from 110gr to 150gr... Plenty for any small to medium size game. If your hunting is going to take you beyond 300 yards, I suggest the larger format AR's. The AR15's can shoot further than 300 yards, but the big rifles do it better. That's where the .308 and .260 come into play. Either of those cartridges can be chambered into a decent hunting rig. For a lightweight hunting AR type rifle. Look at the Remington line of AR's. Very lightweight and built from a reputable company. They also make a .308 rifle.

:hunter: I was going to buy a bulk case of ammo, but I'm not familiar enough with this surplus stuff. I'm looking for some experience in surplus quality. This is going to be shot out of an AR format rifle. I am pretty set on the fact that I'd like to stick to the 122-125gr FMJ or HP. I has some issues chambering the 154gr SP. :auto: Thanks for the input guys <thumbsup>

Jeff is pretty knowledgeable and down to earth. I've had the pleasure of conversing with him a few times through this process. I'll probably call him next week for my latest update. I try to wait at least 4 weeks before I bother the guy.

Robocop1051's 14.5" Dissipator 300 AAC Blackout
Robocop1051 replied to Robocop1051's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
It overhangs a little. I have the billet lower, designed to match up with this upper. It doesn't look that bad at all. It does look a little funny when I put it on a standard forged lower. The lines don't match at all. I really don't see any reason for making it so thick. In fact, I wish it were as thin as a regular upper just to cut weight. Slick side uppers are still pretty unpopular. Not many options available out there. LOKI sells their fluted .300Blk barrels for $300. I was able to finagle a 5% discount over the phone (although I'm sure the fact that I called while at work helped a bit). The guy helping me was AWESOME and super helpful. He asked me to wait on the phone while he searched the stock room for this barrel. He came back and informed me it was THE LAST ONE... I tacked on a few more bucks with shipping/handling. We handled the whole transaction in a few minutes. He BS'd with me about random topics while we went through the ropes. In the end he promised me a confirmation for the shipping. I had the confirmation in my email within 24 hours. I really hope this barrel shoots as well as it looks. The melonite treated stainless barrel is so smooth. I feel dirty when I touch it. -

WTT: Battlecomp BABC Stainless for BABC Black
Robocop1051 replied to Robocop1051's topic in For Sale or Trade
It's a "compensator" which will allow faster follow-up shots. If that was your mission, then YES. I may make enemies here, but I actually think NO muzzle device is needed for a .308 long range rifle. A brake is nice, if your rifle is beating your shoulder to death. A flash hider is nice, if you are worried about someone seeing where you are firing from, or you shoot at night a lot. I don't think the BABC will hinder or diminish your long range accuracy at all. If anything, it will make it so you don't lose your sight picture in between shots. On the flip side, I don't believe it will add any additional accuracy to your bullet. Once a bullet passes the crown of the muzzle, a muzzle device has very little to no effect on the bullet itself. There are some that theorize that the expanding gases, passing the bullet from behind, can have a negative impact... Battlecomp issued a statement in the past that said (in summary) if you bought their compensator with the intention of improving your long range accuracy, they would like for you to return the product for a full return. They would rather not take your money, than instead receive negative reviews on their product for a use is was never designed for. All in all, brakes are more popular with the long range guys, and comp's are more popular with the competition guys.
