This isn't a case of "purgery" or "identity theft". This is fraud. Lying while sitting at the campfire or at the bar is one thing. At worst you get an ass whopping, but more likely just called out and embarassed. Defrauding others is still a crime no matter how you look at it. If you are lying about your service to gain something not deserving to you, that's fraud. We nail guys all the time for talkin shit about places and events they were never part of. I especially love calling out guys who claim to be "Vets" but their age group denies them from being a part of anything more than polishing boots. I nailed a guy to the wall once for claiming to be Vietnam vet. When I pulled his ID, I saw he turned 18 two months after the war ended. Even with an early enlistment, he never would have made to the war. He tried to back pedal saying he was a veteran of the Vietnam "era". Sack of shit! At least I still get to drop the hammer on LE impersonators. I'll bet all the fake mil impersonators don't get off so easy in the past when they are caught. Lots of real mil guys let the law do the work for them, thinking these turds would get their just-desserts from the courts... I foresee random street justice for some dumb tools in the future.

I believe they are definitely "heat treated", but I don't know enough about metallurgy to know the difference between that and "case hardened".

There really isn't a "difference" so to say. The 300 Whisper started from the .221 Fireball. It only took a very short time for people to realize that the .223 was much more readily available (and cheaper). The whisper technically has a sharper shoulder, but not so much that it can't be loaded into a blackout. The whisper loads were designed to be shot from bolt guns and single shot pistols (Thompson Contenders). Due to this, the loads were not very AR15 friendly. AAC made the Blackout with SAAMI req's so that it would function properly in the AR15. If you trust the reloader, whisper can be shot from a blackout.

HD thanks for the heads up. Colt kind of pissed me off with this one. Why make a featureless pistol? Why DAO? Why not DA/SA? No Trijicon sights? Why the Government model only? If this were all steel, commander size, DA/SA with a rail... I'd be standing at the gun counter with cash (and Trijicon sights) in hand.
