Nothing to report yet, but I'll try to load up some 6.5Grendel this weekend. I need to develop a load for the Sierra 130 Game Kings. Finally found the Sierra load data for them, and they're listing Alliant Power Pro Varmint as the better powder. Closest thing I have to that is AA2520, which is my preferred powder for the Grendel anyway. It works pretty damn well in the Hornady 123 ELD-Ms that I've been using. We'll see what I can come up with, and test out. I still need to shoot the test loads for that damn Win Mag, too. I've got 9 loads of 5ea that need to be shot, and determine what that gun likes best. Maybe I can get them both out there on Sunday morning.

Someone else just went through this - or is still going through it. Talk about another "proprietary, arbitrary" dimension. OP, try to grab a measurement, so we can confirm. I think the common numbers will see will be a rear tang thickness of 0.160" 0.150" on the DPMS Low, and 0.210" on the DPMS High. I'm pretty sure this guy got a measurement of 0.195". No need to go that extreme, it's already been done and documented. Be brave, my brother. Dive straight in - right in - to the Anderson Manufacturing thing we're starting to see now. Get into that, my brother. This is so much proof it's not even funny. PSA makes so much high-quality, badass AR15 stuff- because the TDP is out there, and it's a template to follow, and any monkey manufacturer can find the prints and make it. Anderson Manufacturing is the same way, and many times, even cheaper than PSA, in all regards. Anderson kills it with AR15 parts, if you're building your own... BOTH of these manufacturers can't figure out large-frame AR shiit, and one of these manufacturers has even been offered and GIVEN A MAP to get their shiit straight - but it doesn't happen. They don't listen. The other manufacturer in this conversation doesn't even know about this place, and all these fixes, and won't even know that their shiit is all jacked. Clueless. And yet...no matter what... those manufacturers don't have to deal with the problems that they create, in house, in their own manufacturing facilities. They either don't listen, or they DO listen and don't care. It can be nothing else but those two things. It just can't. They BOTH have no clue that people have serious issues with the functionality of their large-frame weapons, and those people DON'T call the manufacturer - THOSE PEOPLE hop online, to this message board (that they find), and proceed to give us hell about the weapon that they bought. Somehow, more often than not, they tell US that we're the bad guys for telling them they need to spend more money to fix the shiit they were sold. WE are the bad guys. Know where that comes from, PSA and Anderson? YOU sold the cheapest platform that you could, and it's jacked, and the mentality comes out. "I spent SO much money on this, and it doesn't WORK!!! IT SHOULD WORK FOR WHAT I SPENT!!!" I really want to tell them this, right here, and I'm not kidding... IF YOU WANTED IT TO WORK, OUT OF THE BOX, THEN BUY A FUCKING LaRue!!! Mark LaRue doesn't send shiit rifles out of his place of business. What's really fucked up is this - If I went out and bought a 100% DPMS LR-308 rifle, from individual parts, from DPMS - each part - and I build that thing... it WILL work. Armalite is zero questions, it'll work. I can't say that if I buy all the parts from PSA, and now Anderson. I can't say that. It won't fucking work. So, PSA, you been doing this for quite awhile, and I actually respect your ambitions. Fix your shiit. Not for me - I won't ever own one. Fix it for your future customers, and fix it for the real, no-shiit lifetime guarantee that you offer. Fix it for YOU, and your bottom line. You mean well, and you're doing well - and your Lifetime Guarantee will bite you right in your a$s of you don't fix the problems you have in your recoil system, and your gas system - they're linked, directly, in case that hasn't been figured out yet. I'll clue you in - THEY'RE DIRECTLY LINKED. Now, for Anderson Manufacturing - get out of the large-frame AR business. Just leave. You crush AR15-platform shiit - you kill it, and you're good at it. Jumping into large-frame AR shiit is over your head. WAY over your head. You have done zero research on this, you have never seen the problems inherent in this platform, and you don't even care. Just fucking go, and stop trying. Or, wake up, realize what the issues are (it's gonna take you years to figure this out, and MUCH research), and fix it... That's my opinion, and you can suck it if you think I'm wrong. I'm living your world, and living your shiit products (both you companies), and people don't research your problems before they buy your cheapass platforms. Then they come here, and get all beligerent about the problems they have when we tell them that we're tired of seeing it. We get blamed for the shiit that you can't figure out. PSA, you've already been given the map to success. You ignored it. Anderson - figure it out quick, and fix it, or remain lumped into this category. Tom-Ass out.

Stop, already. Quit being pus$ys and start cutting some guns up - know what they do, what they're supposed to do, and fix the problems. This will help PSA and Anderson owners, right away. I meant that, just as it sounded. Caught that right away. I would think that's a barrel-manufacturing problem, before I'd think it's an Aero-has-issues-making-M5-uppers problem. That's just based on my personal history with Aero Precision products, which is about 4 x 308 guns and probably 15 x small-frame ARs. I seriously need to count these things.

Which spring... and make sure it's the H3 AR15 buffer or the real Armalite AR-10 Carbine buffer, at 5.4oz. Don't mix/match parts once you move to the VLTOR or AR-10 Carbine receiver extension. Make sure that VLTOR extension is the A5 extension, too.

It never will - in a 7" internal depth receiver extension, you have to run the short 2.5" buffer, on a .308AR or Large-Frame AR build. You try an AR15 buffer that's 3.250" long, in a Big AR, which has a longer BCG than the AR15, - and you can't cycle it functionally (ammo fired) or lock the BCG back. It's 3/4" too long.

That's my point, exactly. He lost it when his design was criticized, and he went to false accusations, saying the guy was a pedo for disagreeing with him. WAY overboard. If the divers had to take their tanks off their backs to contort through one of those narrow passages, then that submarine wasn't gonna fit through that spot and get the job done. He couldn't take that criticism... and went full pedo-insult... What a douche.

There's something out of spec in that lower, or the BCG body is too short. End/ It's gotta be one of those two things that causes the chewed buffer. Only. That truly is a chewed buffer, from hitting the buffer retainer during operation. The buffer face should never, ever touch the buffer retainer, even under recoil, when those receivers are closed and pinned. Ever.

Those are long out of circulation, my man. Aero stopped making those long ago - when you couldn't even order from Aero, and they didn't even have a website. It's been that long ago. You have an anomoly, in your Aero AR-10B pattered lower, and it's rare as hen's teeth. Running model numbers of Aero 308 lowers isn't something that people need to be worried about, and hardly anyone on the planet has what you have. Personally, I think you're lucky, and the piece you have is quite the item. Not something that hardly anyone needs to worry about, though. Aero never made an AR-10A patterned lower. They dropped the B pattern, and went straight DPMS pattern.

The buffer retainer hole is supposed to be drilled at a slight angle (forward), so if yours is straight up and down, that's the reason you're chewing the buffer face. Check it close. Only other thing I can think of to check is the BCG body overall length, to the 16" inch, if you can get that. If that check out to the length of a DPMS-based BCG, then I'd have to look at the lower being an 80% as the issue. Rule out what you can rule out. I'll get pics up this weekend of what I'm talking about, on that buffer retainer hole angle. I'd get rid of that recoil spring, in a 7" receiver extension, and 2.5" buffer, and run the Armalite EA1095 spring. You have enough weight in the buffer, close enough. 5.4oz would be the target, and you're at 5.1oz, so it shouldn't be a huge deal. That's FAR better than a 3.0oz or 3.8oz buffer, that the 2.5"-buffer-crowd manufacturers likes to give you. Run it WET. It's not a new gun, based on your posts last April, unless you haven't shot it since then. Is it broken in yet, with good factory ammo (no cheap ammo for break-in). Full-powered ammo. Can't think of anything else right now...

The Barnes bullets are so different than others, based on the solid copper construction, so I bought the manual a long time ago. Here's the .308 Win Data on that weight class. One thing to really note, here, though - your velocities aren't gonna be what's in this book, because the test barrel they used was a 24" Kreiger with a 1:12" twist (wtf on their chosen twist...). Max load on the 168TSX using Varget is 45.5 grains, at a case capacity of 101%. Very, slightly, compressed. Perfectly fine, and safe. I'm betting you can make a set of loads going up another 0.2 gr per until you hit 45.5gr, and you'll hit another accuracy node on the way up. You'll get that speed up, and keep the accuracy when you hit that next node (if your brass will still look okay/be okay). I'd watch that brass and primers close, though - the Barnes manual has higher max charges than the Hornady 10 manual. You're pretty close to maxing it out now, with a good load.

Pictures of all this stuff is REALLY gonna help you along, too. Complete gun, problem parts/areas, etc. DETAILS! List the entire build, every single part. Every. It helps more than you know, so we don't have to get frustrated asking you for more info - that should have been provided. You wouldn't call a guy on the phone, and say, "My car is running funny. What is it?" "uuummmm, what kind of car do you have sir?" "It's red." See where I'm going here?

What kind of upper receiver did you put on this? Aero, right? What kind of lower? If you're chewing up the buffer face on the buffer retainer, that only comes from out-of-spec receivers. I won't say never, but I wouldn't think it's the Aero upper.

Recoil system details needed. Big time. What is the internal depth of that receiver extension? Internal Depth. How long is that buffer? Common tape measure will get close enough on those necessary measurement.

Too soft. Wouldn't even use bronze, either. Tungsten is your answer. Fill your buffer body with tungsten.
