I gotta tell this - memories... One of the funniest moments as a 203 Gunner... Ranger School, Desert Phase. I went in 1990, when Desert was still there (it ended up getting removed from the course, which I think is a mistake). Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah, high-plains desert. We're almost done with the course, and one of the graded patrols is a Raid on a bunker system, to recover PC, "precious cargo." I was in the fire support role, not one of the raid members that went through the bunkers, looking for the PC. Something happened downrange, and the Ranger Instructors called an Admin halt. That hardly EVER happens, so it wasn't good. It's dark as fuk out, middle of the night raid with no moon, and nobody knew what was going on, just it wasn't good. It was an immediate cease fire, find out what's wrong kinda moment. I didn't even hesitate after they yelled "ADMIN!!! ADMIN!!! CEASE FIRE!!! CEASE FIRE!!! WHAT THE FUK!!!"... Zero hesitation... I plunked a white illum in that thing and fired it up and to the left, then had another one out right away, up with to the right. Fucking RI's went nuts on me... "WHO THE FUK IS FIRING WHAT THE FUK ARE YOU DOING YOU'RE OUTTA HERE MOTHERFUCKER!!!!" They got all that out, and three of them descended upon me, ready to deliver great fury and a wild a$s-kicking - before those illum rounds burst in the sky. They were FAST! As soon as those damn things lit up the sky, they stopped their advance upon my a$s, right in their tracks - it was light out, in the middle of the night. They didn't say anything to me after that, and we found out that one of the other students fucked himself up charging into the bunker, went face-down, and busted a few teeth. Bled like crazy. Serious, but not too serious, if you know what I mean. You can get "demerits" on graded patrols. Minor Minus is a small demerit, but still bad. Major Minus is pretty damn bad, and equals 3 Minors. You're fucked with a Major. You can also get positives. At the end of that patrol, I got a Major Plus for that 203 illum round shiit I pulled...

YES!!! I spent many, many years as a 203-Gunner, brother, so that just made my damn day, completely!!!
  3. I think people confused "overgassed" with that weakass recoil system, brother, honestly. Fuk me, that recoil spring I got from Gopher isn't even fit for duty in an AR15, let alone a .308 Win-powered load. The buffer is too damn light (my saying of "not enough a$s to control the mass"), and the receiver extension has too much internal depth, so your BCG crashed into the ears on your lower receiver. What a goatfuck of a recoil system. On that peening, I can't say from pictures. I need to get that upper in my hands, and Gopher and I will work that out. I'm gonna fix this upper assembly, and he's gonna have a fully functional rifle. I will find out what the hell is going on with this thing, and I will fix it. I don't think there's a gas leak anywhere - that takes care of itself after about a dozen rounds. Nothing is ever air-tight when you first build it, gas escapes from the gas block and the gas tube (into the gas block). Carbon fouling seals that up pretty quick. I think he's got a gas port issue, and it's too small. Possibly some other issues. If I find some machining issues with that upper, I will be posting it here, letting PSA know about it, and getting Josiah/Jamin involved.
  4. Knocked out the zero this morning on the gun. Functionally, it ran like a champ, with zero functional issues whatsoever. The first few rounds got kinda scratched up brass, but that smoothed out in the next 10 or so rounds. Sharp edges on the barrel extension? Probably was, until it got beat on a little. Since the dope chart above works out to 0.2" low at 300 yards, with a 25-yard zero, I set the MaTech rear sight at 300 yards to dothis 25-yard zero. It adjusts from 200 to 600 in 100-steps, and it's got a 350 step in there, too. I know if I don't touch anything, I'm 5.2" high from point of aim at 100 yards, 6.6" high at 150 yards, and 6.3" high at 200 yards. I have the option to drop that sight back to the 200-yard setting, and it'll get better. I didn't do that today, and check what kind of an effect it had, because I only set out targets at 25 yards (for zero) and 100 yards to see how it does on steel. At the 25 yard target, it was only paper zero target. I came up with this for a zero, on a clean target, and I gave it one more click right after this group, then cluttered the target all up with another mag. I'll take it. At 25 yards, I would have liked to see them all touching, but I was literally a combination of hungover, jacked on coffee this morning, shooting iron sights on a table with a front bag and no rear support. I'm uploading the video now, so I'll throw it in here once it's done. 8" round steel swinger at 100 yards. Smashing it when it would swing back towards me.
  5. Same here - it would be a riot, for sure... In reference to the stuff I bolded above - your guns are only running because everything else is "right enough." As soon as you toss a gas port in there that's too small, no bueno. Everything turns to shiit. As soon as you throw a stronger (correct) recoil system in there, again, no bueno. Lack of gas pressure is fighting a proper (and not weak) recoil system. It's exactly why I said this, in that other linked thread:
  6. Good lookin' setup, brother. Nice!
  7. Right on, Dion!
  8. I believe that you were the one that bestowed that initial joke upon me, indeed... My, how the world turns...
  9. It's a gift, that many don't understand, brother. Initially, many think that "you're cursed," and that you're short-tempered. They blame YOU... Psssshhh. Has nothing to do with that. Doesn't have anything to do with anyone's temper. And nothing to do with YOU. It's a gift of bulshiit... and sensing bulshiit. Once you acquire it, it's on you. ON you. You can't shake it, get rid of it, or ignore it. You have to live your life and deal with that gift. It's at that point, right there, that you accept it, that you change. Others realize it before you do, and think you're just a dick. One day, they'll wake up, too. LTC Dave Grossman wrote about it. It's called "the gift of aggression."
  10. I told you. My shiit is beyond calibrated. Beyond.
  11. No it doesn't. I've done that to you guys before, too. You got played, by a player. You're just having a hard time admitting that Doc is now a serious player... And he proved it.
  12. You don't know what I'm talking about. Go look at your 5.56 guns, and see where the gas tube ends in the cam pin cut-out. The gas tube ends directly in the middle of the cam pin cut-out on your 5.56 guns. You know why? There's a standard, for the 5.56 guns. Seriously, go look - because I know you replied, and you didn't look. I wrote a pretty detailed post about this bullshiit, on short gas tubes. And why short gas tubes are really a big deal - not the small deal that others make them out to be. You should search for that post I made on it.
  13. Hehehehehe... I laugh at this, because I know better... On a deeply personally level. Of my own accord, I've commenced to issuing some SERIOUS ass-beatings around here, way back in the day when I was an Administrator here. I just told it how it was, and let fukbags exactly know that they were fukbags, and I didn't mince any words in doing that. There are many people that cry about that, whine, whatever, and I didn't stop. I gave that job up - seriously quit it. Wasn't worth the headache, or what it did to shorten my life. It got to the point that the whiners (that were too sensitive) outnumbered the real people here, that give a shiit, and ... ...something had to be done. What was done was what I linked above - and that wasn't a post that I made. You need to know this, right now, and I'm defending you - you won't get banned because someone on some supervisory position got pissed off at you - that will never happen here. You will never get banned for being a freedom loving son of a bitch. Never. About the only thing that people get banned for here is this - being a complete a$shole, not listening when others are trying to correct them back on course, and continuing on their rant - at which point they start slamming EVERYONE that tries to reply to them. BOOM. Hey, we tried to tell you, then you just got more engaged/enraged, and ... Bye. We try to keep people on track, as far as attitude goes, but it gets to that point (quickly, here) where everyone washes their hands of it. If they continue down that path, and won't slow down, then we'll just grease the skids to get them shot out the door that much faster.
  14. Shooting first, and asking questions later... That just gets your a$s kicked here. Usually. Just letting you know. We are pretty lighthearted - and fool-hardy - here. Once people start to get super serious, lose their shiit, and go ballistic... it's pretty short after that. What everyone needs to know it this, though:
  15. You need to work around it. It's a fun game. Once you get it, you'll roll with it.
  16. YES!!! WELL PLAYED!!!
  17. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!! LAST ONE!!! On this gun, I'm trying out a new recoil system. I'll give up some details once I get this buffer in my hands, and weigh that thing.

It'll be better that way, man - hate to stop you from shooting tomorrow, but we'll be the ones here trying to figure out what's going on when all doesn't go well. It's honestly for the better to wait on the 5.4oz H3 buffer. You'll have a solid recoil system, and if there are issues after that, we know that's not something that we need to look at. You GOTTA get pics of that SP1 up here!...
  19. You did it right, for using a crow's foot. That's the right way to do it. The spec is the same as an AR15, no matter what any manufacturer tells you, and it's a wide range: 30~80lb/ft. If a manufacturer (of a rail system) ever tells you lower than 80lb/ft, you better abide, but it's never gonna be lower than 30lb/ft.

You're the first dude here running an Anderson Manufacturing .308AR, man. It looks like Anderson has the Large-Frame AR recoil system figured out about as much as PSA does. Sharpie those slam marks pretty good, or use a Birchwood-Casey Super Black pen on them, if you have one. Cover them up, so you can see what's going on with the new recoil system. A 3oz buffer doesn't have enough a$s to control the mass. It's not enough buffer weight to control the mass of the .308AR BCG weight, and the .308 Win cartridge pressures/power. A 3oz buffer is a waste of your time on this platform. Just warning you now, but your gun is gonna operate like it's over-gassed, because your recoil system isn't gonna do the job it needs to do. Heads up...
  21. Found it by searching "AP Freedom5" online, but can't find it through the website menus... Damnit... https://aeroprecisionusa.com/m5-receiver-set-freedom-anodized.html

It's not a chance. It WILL. Your BCG will smash into the ears on the lower receiver, hard. Don't run the 2.500" buffer with the longer carbine extension and the EA1095 spring
  23. That was my lightweight, Doc, and that was the BAD Sabertube on it. What you're showing will work, well.
  24. Yeah, yeah, yeah... It's not done yet, but it's gotta be done by the Fall, that's certain. Major hurdle though, right here. (P.S. Matt, this means I'm not just re-barrelling another gun for the Fall, brother... ). So, Aero Precision. These weren't talked about much, just as Special Edition receiver sets. Not full on "Builders Sets,", but they were out there. I've never seen the M5 version for sale on their website, but my Gun Pusher found them. He didn't even ask me - he just ordered two sets. One for him, one for me. Bastard... https://aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-freedom-receiver-set.html This will be the backbone for the .260 Remington.
