  1. Yes, to that. Now, keep in mind that my information is 10 years old, at this point. Larger installations - Fort Ord had a range open to civilians, Fort Lewis as well. Fort Huachuca, to a limited degree, allowed civilians on a few select ranges. That was the deal though - not full access to any range; there were only one or two ranges that Civs COULD shoot on. The best was Quantico, and access to the 1000-yard ranges. The process to go through was crazy for a Civ. There was no Mil limit on applying for the Rod & Gun Club membership. There was a limit for Civs, and I think it was 2 Mil per 1 Civ. It was a ratio thing, and almost like a lottery/waiting list from hell. On all the mil installations that I've seen Civs allowed on, you had to have your weapons registered with the Provost Marshall's Office. You couldn't just show up and shoot. You can to check in when you were arriving, show proof of being registered with PMO, get a visitor's pass, before you were allowed access to the installation. In a nutshell - check with the post PMO and find out what's required, brother.
  2. I'll run Long Range and High Angle.
  3. You might need a heavier buffer, to slow that down a little bit. You're running a bit fast. Hornady brass is good brass, and it shouldn't be ripping off rims. Post up the specs on that rifle, if you don't mind - recoil system as well.
  4. Welcome, Mark. Look around a little, check things out. Anything comes up, ask away.
  5. I love the H110 for BLK loading. It got scarce for a minute, and I tried Accurate 1680, which is great as well. I go for whichever one now.
  6. 110gr or 130gr Barnes TSX, brother. That 110 would be a zinger, for sure. Here's some load data from them. I'll see if I can find more in the Barnes book, and get it in here. http://www.barnesbullets.com/files/2016/03/300AACBlackoutV6ForWeb.pdf
  7. @sketch
  8. DAAAAAMN!!! You're going WAY old-skool, brother! Like this!
  9. I'm thinkin' that everyone has better than 6 months to figure their schedules out... If they can't get that done, then...
  10. Oh no he didn't!@
  11. I know you guys like pictures - and crayon drawings and shiit... - so here's a graphic of the illum percentages by date, for Oct18.
  12. Night Shoots have become a regular, mandatory activity on the last two shoots. Yeah, bring a pistol light and a carbine light (or one light that works on both), so we can shoot some short-course stuff at night. Check. Got it. We shoot distance at night. Distances at the Fall Shoot 2017 were 200 yards and 450 yards, at night. Long gun. For Spring Shoot 2018, we shot 375 yards. One thing we discovered between those two shoots... We had a full moon at FS17, and NO MOON at SS18. Didn't hinder us, in the spring... but MAN, WAS IT BADASS LAST FALL!!! We didn't need to artificially light the target that night. You shot with zero shooting aids (small lights on white-painted steel silhouettes). It's amazingly easy to shoot at night, when there's SOME kind of ambient light available. That full-moon-night showed how easy it really is, and we were smacking down some 450-yard steel. So, on that note, here's the illum schedule/calendar for fall '18. Here's the full moon dates: October 24th, November 22nd, December 22nd. We already discussed this at the Spring Shoot - MAN, was it nice having that full moon last fall!!! - when we were out there in NO ILLUM this spring... " Let's plan the next Fall Shoot around a full moon!!!" It's on. We already discussed the dates, too - November 22nd is pretty damn close to some family-time Thanksgiving. December 22nd is pretty damn close to some family-time Christmas. That leaves us with the weekend around October 24th, ladies and gents. 24 Oct 18 is a Wednesday. Pick the weekend before, or the weekend after, attendees. We'll have good illum both weekends. THAT will be the dates planned for Fall Shoot 2018. Let's hear what ya got.
  13. Speaking of updates... Fall Shoot last year - we did the night shoot at 450 yards, and had a small light to illuminate the target face. We shot that thing, did some "target frame repair" after a misaligned firing incident (or seven), and kept shooting it. That was on the last night. The next day, people were breaking down their camps and rolling out, at various times. We were nursing some GREG from the night prior, and generally just plinking rounds at closer targets. We broke down, went downrange and pulled the 450 and 660 yard targets - and I forgot to get the light. I've been out there a few more times since - but it sucks getting out there to the 450 in the damn daylight - let alone at night, when Matt got attacked. So, this Spring Shoot, I made it a mission to go get that damn light. I had a hard time finding the thing, and I swear I was looking RIGHT AT the location it was at - I saw the holes in the ground where the target was!!! DAMNIT!!! I walked uphill, and looked back, and I saw it right away - the green power putton and yellow LED screen... Here's why I couldn't find it,when looking uphill at the target area - the AZ sun bleached that black annodized light right out... Top light is a new one, bottom light is the one I left out there... With the great skill and precision exhibited by some of our members, and their demonstrated proficiency at hitting a 1" wide T-Post at 450 yards in the middle of the night... It's no wonder that they grazed this small light, as well...
  14. I've got 3 profiles loaded into the Kestrel (12.5 Gren, 18 Gren, 308 178HPBT), and 6 profiles built in the computer program... It's on. I'm on the EuroOptic mailing list for when the rest of the Kestrel components come into stock - weathervane kit in FDE, IR data hard cable, computer BlueTooth adapter... The ONLY way to load profiles directly from the computer to Kestrel is the IR cable. We can use the computer to BlueTooth the shooting data onto, from the Kestrel. I'll probably have an IPad by then anyway... the way this shiit is going...
  15. We need to make the Fall Shoot longer this time. By a couple days. One Long Range Day. Only. One Long Range High Angle Day. Up in the rocks, targets on the valley floor. Another 2 days dedicated to shenanigans, short and midrange rifle/pistol, night shoots, etc. It's gotta happen...
  16. I need to go get more cans, don't I...
  17. @Matt.Cross, you're already stacked for the Fall Shoot, brother. They're all FULL...
  18. ALL the .45 shiit is coming back up now!!!
  19. Damn, I saw the other thread first, and pimped you in this direction...
  20. YES!!!!!! Go hit up some of that KeepShooting as a source for Grease Gun mags, brother... Lemme help you out a a little... https://www.keepshooting.com/
  21. Same, but you need to know if it's mil-spec diameter (1.14") or commercial diameter (1.17").
  22. That turned out very well!
  23. Where did you pick up the rifle, and when? I know you say you got it yesterday.... do you know when it was made? I'm thinking it might have come from one of two sources - a gunshop built the rifle up, or it came from Live Free Armory. LFA is the only place I know of that offered complete Matrix M-762 rifles - even Matrix doesn't offer the 308 as a complete. Matrix does for the 5.56 guns, but not the 308s. LFA transitioned to their own uppers and lowers some time ago, so they don't have complete Matrix-branded 308s anymore.
