  1. Both those primers look flattened, and cratered. Take it back out with different ammo. I haven't seen ZQI cause a problem before, and haven't run across any that's been loaded hot, so something else in your rifle might be causing pressure issues. But, different ammo is the first step.

  3. Eh, no thanks necessary, brother. I'll be playing this venue all week, so enjoy the show. Kick back, have a few drinks, and remember to tip your server...
  4. If I'd ever sell face-to-face, it wouldn't be to a stranger. That's just me, but I'd never sell one of my guns to an "unknown." Lucky for me, my mantra is "Buy, Don't Sell..."
  5. Doesn't need retracted, man, and it's certainly not "non-accepted." Just letting you know about the information that you provided, that's all. These aren't .45s, and we're pretty well versed on them. Oh, and there's no way I'd try to build a 1911, on my own...
  6. Eye opening, brother. I've never heard of this. I've never heard of anybody inside a gun show, that sold firearms, and was not an FFL. Non FFLs I've seen could sell parts - but they couldn't sell guns. That's pretty damn scary, that you've seen that... Scary...
  7. ^^^ One thing I noticed in that video, when she was comparing US gun laws to CA gun laws, that was WILDLY innaccurate was: "No background checks at gun shows or online in 31 States..." You can't buy a firearm online in the US without it being shipped to an FFL - directly. No other way. You buy online, it ships to the FFL of your choice - once your FFL sends them their license. You fill out the ATF Form 4473 to obtain said firearm from your FFL. Same thing at gun shows - all vendors that are selling firearms will process your 4473 right there. You either get to buy it at the gun show, or not (if you're denied, delayed). The only thing you can do without a 4473 is face-to-face private sales, in many states. That doesn't require the 4473 at a dealer. Some of that might happen AT a gun show location - in the parking lot - but it never happens inside the gun shows. All states. Never happens...
  8. I found this, Brother Gaucho - it's from 2016. Still pretty accurate?
  9. Fuckin' TRUE!!!
  10. We've been through this alot. Doesn't matter what the barrel material is, you drill slow, and use very light pressure - let the bit do the work, and don't force it. Put a 1/4" wooden dowel down the barrel so you don't go through and hit the other side. Fractional bits don't get it for recommendations, so the use of fractional bits as guidance is pretty much worthless. Always use numbered bits for gasport sizing - as you did further in your post. It's worth a trip to Ace Hardware for proper numbered bits in a very select size range, over using fractional bits from your drill index in the garage... Just so you know, there are some barrel combinations that will require a 0.100" gas port for a .308 Win round, so advising 0.093" as a last resort won't always be the case.
  11. I found the gentleman that does the POF Patriot drawings... JoonHo "JK" Kim. He lives close, in Sahuarita, AZ. https://tacticaldrawings.com/ I'll be buying some of his drawings, and I'll try to go pick them up, so I can meet him. This one, for sure, I'm getting...
  12. ^^^ I hear ya. Girls trypically don't get the "H" - they don't get the hyperactivity. ADD for girls. That's not set in stone, but I don't know what the percentages age. Boys are the hyper ones...
  13. WOW!!! That needs drilled up, and I'd start at 0.080." Hit our gas port thread of info, and check out common, operating sizes...
  14. Let this sink in a little...
  15. My son was initially diagnosed as AD/HD by a school nurse, in California, in Kindergarten. I was deployed to the PI, and he was with his mom there. SCHOOL NURSE. He was already on meds (Ritalin) when she was notified of this diagnosis. I lost my shiit... but there wasn't anything I could do about it in the Philippines. I got back 8 months later... His mom couldn't handle him, and my sister stepped in, flew to Cali and took him back to Ohio. He stayed with her, and was a handful. Once I got back, and got him back, first thing was an appointment with the very best Behavioral Pediatrician in the US Army. Just happened by dumb luck, but she was stationed at Fort Lewis, and I was lucky... My son was diagnosed as Severely AD/HD. Of three main testing protocols they go off of (checklists and observances, basically), the three are all somewhat different. He hit every single item on all three lists... All of them. The Doc bluntly told me that he would have to find behavioral ways to deal with this, but he would also probably need mediciation assistance with it, for the rest of his life. Boy was she right. So, we started Ritalin. 5mg and 10mg tabs. His metabolism would burn through a dosage that should last all day, before lunch. We eventually switched to Adderall XR (extended release). Nightmare. It lasted a little longer, but the emotional let down when it wore off was absolutely wild. That shiit was a nightmare. We went to Concerta XR due to the after effects of Adderall. But the time he was 11, we had him on the max dose of Conterta that he was allowed to take. And it still wasn't doing much for him. We changed that up a little, cut the Concerta dosage down in order to combine it with Focalin XR. The results were alright, but far from the answer. By the time I moved back to Phoenix, in 2013, he was 16. He had some issues, and I found a neuro-behavioral institute that offered "brain mapping." He was hooked up to sensors and patches all over, given a battery of tests, and they measured things I didn't know they could measure. In the end of it, literally, I had a picture of his brain, with different colored areas on the graphics, and all kinds of data listed. It showed functional areas of the brain, the different colors meant different things, and it showed his propensity for certain conditions (depression, etc.). Also listed were all the drugs that would NOT work on him. Guess what? Ritalin, Adderall, Concerta, Focalin... We listed as probably having no affect on him. Damn... They were right! We switched to Vyvanse, which was about the only drug that WOULD have an effect on him - and it worked. Well, better than anything else before did, that's for sure. So, moral of the story - before the technology caught up, this was a guessing game, no kidding. Give him this, observe... How's his behavior? Okay, let's up the dosage a little and we'll see you in 45 days... So, how's his behavior? Oh, really? Let's change to this med... See you in 45 days... I've lived this. It sucks.
  16. I highly recommend Chris Reideman/Live Free Armory. I have an initial-run Matrix 762 set, that was directly identical to the Ruger SR762 hardware, minus Ruger markings. Got the rail, in the same purchase. I turned this into a .338 Federal AR, and it's been flawless. Customer service from Chris is outstanding, but I doubt you'll need to use his customer service for an issue resolution. He has since changed the 308 sets up a little, and they're a direct DPMS-based pattern now, which will make life a little easier in reference to building it and sourcing parts. Here's some background on how we, collectively, feel about Live Free Armory - in short, Awesome.
  17. I'm on my own out here in the vast wasteland. I'll defend myself to the end. Come pick up the pieces... You'll have to sift through the rubble, determine what's still useful, and wade through a MOUNTAIN of brass...
  18. If I disappear after this post, as of right now, the only people on my trust are my parents, and @Matt.Cross. Good luck fighting him, you fuckers.
  19. I'll talk about what I went through with my kid, for whatever it takes, too. I'll let it out. Just ask away.
  20. The Marketing of Madness; The truth About Psychotropic Drugs. I mentioned this in another thread here, but this deserves it's own attention. I'm warning you now, this is a 3 hour video. Take the time over several days to watch it through. I've lived this. Not myself, but through my own severely AD/HD son. I've been through all this. It wasn't until I paid up about a grand to get his "brain mapped" that I could shortcut the "drug experimental" shiit I was always going through. Once I went through the brain mapping, I realized that he was "immune" to almost every AD/HD drug that I had him on for the previous 13 years. This is worth watching. Even if it takes days. It explains alot on what we're facing daily, right here, in the US.
  21. No reason not to - MagPul has been kicking ass in that arena for more than 10 years now. Faults would have shown up. Go hit the Intro Section and tell us about yourself.

They were my go-to for that .338 Fed barrel, too, until you had your issues with them. I'm so damn glad I dropped that Wilson Combat .338 Fed Match barrel on mine! I didn't use an adjustable gas block, either...
  23. Here's the deal with adjustable gas blocks. If your rifle doesn't function, you max out the adjustble gas block. WFO, like a 2-stroke dirtbike. Wide Fuckin' Open. If it doesn't function THEN, your gas port in your barrel is too small. Drill it up. That is the only way you're gonna find that out. Max it. Always start with it maxed out. Or, don't use one from the get-go, and just use a standard gas block. You move to an adjustable when you need to... I hate complicated shiit... These rifles weren't designed around it/them, and they don't need it to function correctly...

Them saying it was "proprietary, and that information isn't given out" means that they didn't know, guessed WAY undersized, then left the customer to figure it out in the long run. That's cool. I think..... Better than making it WAY OVER SIZED, and forcing customers to buy adjustble gas blocks to fix their shiitty guesses...
  25. Back to my mantra. Don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit. Never start a new rifle build with complicated shiit. Never. New rifles need this many "adjustable" anything on them... ZERO. Build a functioning rifle first, then modify it to suit your needs.
