No problem....it might be a while. Today I decided to change the upper to a flat top while I have it apart so now I have to wait for that to come in. If I am going to do all that I might as well Duracoat a few things, maybe change out the stock...Yes I know I have a problem.;D

A 13.8" rail on a 16" barrel should look sweet!

I should have this rail on Friday afternoon, but it may be Monday before I get it.  Either way, it'll get mounted up pretty quick.  If there's anything in specific that you need to know about mounting it up, I'll be able to tell you then.  Troy has a great vid on the installation of it, though:

The wife doesn't understand how I can take a fully functional gun a part but require boxes of parts to put it back together.  ;D

You are BLESSED, brother!  My chick is Army (medical), so I'm screwed.  She doesn't understand why I need more than one AR-based gun, let alone another BIGGER one that shoots more expensive rounds than the others (WTF are you needing an M-16 that shoots M-60 bullets?!).  The questions don't stop, and she doesn't understand the difference in them...  >:(

You're in a good place, man, trust me...  :D

True....never looked at it like that....I always tell her it is the same reason she needs 40+ pairs of shoes when she only has two feet.....

The more I think about it your may be right......My biggest fear is that when I'm dead and gone she will sell all my huntin' and fishin' stuff for what I told her I paid for it.

Ok. Got it all back together....took a while....but we moved in the process and I just got my workshop unpacked.  Here it is I ended up changing out the upper, new rail and stock. Duracoated the upper, lower, barrel and supressor. Got some FDE magpuls and a FDE grip on the way. Can't wait to get it to the range.

Yeah....I didn't realize they had made a "change" until I was putting it together... >:(

When your that far along what r u going to do?? I'm not a fan of the DPMS quad rail. Trying to figure out a way to make it a little less noticeable..If anyone has any suggestions I'm listening.

This will be my first and last DPMS build...great way to get repeat business!

Fulton Armory, brother.  <thumbsup>  DPMS makes Fulton's uppers and lowers, but makes the uppers to Fulton's specs.  You can pick up a stripped upper from them that will match your rail height.  Call first and confirm (you'd need to talk to Clint), but last word was that they were NOT going to change their uppers even though DPMS did.  Arm yourself with this information prior to calling - have it handy:

Info straight from DPMS:

Our AR15 receivers are all the same height except the High Rider and Tri-Mount.

The LR308 Platform has two heights, the A3 and Lo-Pro Raised Rail. The A3 was changed recently to better accommodate our other components. I guess in reality, with the number sold before the change, there are now 3 heights.

To find out if you have a newer model or older run, the easiest way to measure is with a caliper from the bottom surface that mates to the lower to the top of the rail. The new versions measure 2.003 and the old versions are 2.063.

Any larger receiver rail to handguard rail height difference would be due to the lack of an industry standard in the large frame AR style rifles. Everybody is still pretty much making their own thing and some measurements just don't line up between manufacturers.
